Teenage Engineering OP-Z demo (Aquifex)
Published on Dec 2, 2019 SynthAddict
"I finally got around to making some sort of simple Teenage Engineering OP-Z demo, all programmed/sequenced on the OP-Z (internal FX added to each track) and mixed down live to a stereo recorder and replacing the camera's crappy audio track - no mastering, and some mistakes. :-)
The video shows a tiny bit of the amazing power of this little gray "chocolate bar" gadget.
Here I'm using mute groups to add and remove sequencer parts and realtime performance FX (like the Pocket Operators) like a sort of DJ approach.
More fun stuff to come...
Features not used: step components (the real secret weapon), internal FX tracks or the mastering track, tape FX (like the OP-1), pitch bender, or the installed OPLab connectivity module (in photo - syncs pocket operators, MIDI gear, and modular CV/gate).
This little guy does a lot!
A few extra crazy features of the OP-Z involve running DMX lights and Unity engine graphics from the sequencer (both have their own channels). DMX runs over USB and the Unity channel controls Unity graphics/animation or photos/FX via Bluetooth with files on an iPhone/iPad which can be hooked to a projector for live performance. A true all-in-one solution for some people.
Enjoy!"
And a MATRIXSYNTH card in the pic. :)

SN 214 via this auction

"May be the unique chance to purchase one of the first VCS3's made back in 1969 ! EMS VCS3 + DK2 + original documents / fully serviced/ many invisible and reversible mods added (see below!)
Serial # 214 VCS3
Fully serviced in 2014 by a reputed tech in Belgium.
Huge and quite expensive work !
VCS3 + DK2 have been fully calibrated according to the EMS service manual procedure.
Many invisible modification using matrix and push pull pots, no extra holes drilled in the panel :
1- OSC 2 and OSC 3 SHAPE CV via the reverb mix column - pull the SHAPE knob will connect it to the reverb mix column
2 - Audio/LFO RANGE fo each OSC - pull the SINE or SQUARE knob changes the range
3- SYNC of osc 1 slaved to osc 2 and/or osc 3 when their triangle know is pulled.
Os1 ramp knob selects 2 sync depths
4 – OSC 1 and 2 stabilisation (LM394H)
5 – Temperature compensation (TYCO tempco)
6 – Filter 4 or 5 pole selector (pull the frequency knob for 5 pole)
7 – Filter Response control (pull the response knob for voltage control via the meter column)
8 - filter slew/unslew - Pull up the « level » knob makes the filter receptive to audio range CV and allow nice FM and percussive sounds - excellent !
9 – Envelope ATTACK and DECAY times x10 + ON and OFF times x10 (both
mods together can produce cycles longer than 5 minutes !)
10 – TRAPEZOID polarity control - pulling the knob inverts the trapezoid
11 – Gate input modification on a control output jack socket
12 - 2 x 1V/oct precalibrated CV input on the HIGH LEVEL jack inputs, to have 1V/oct, set the corresponding input level pot to 10. Tracks ok on 5 octaves with the frequency dial in central position.
Buffers keep the CV stable regardless of the number of pins . new vernier dials firmly mounted to metal standoffs instead of the terrible rubber strip used on the very early units
13 - new caps in the PSU
14 - new trimmers"

New Synthesizers.com Q158 VCA2++ Dual VCA

"The Q158 VCA++ module combines two VCAs along with innovative connectivity to provide a panner, fader, 3-channel mixer and ring modulator functions - all in a single-wide module.
You can never have enough VCAs in a modular system and the Q158 addresses this by providing two full-featured VCAs complete with invertable attenuators and bipolar gain controls.
The signal input and CV input for VCA #1 are normalized to VCA #2, in other words, they are automatically connected to VCA #2 unless plugs are inserted into VCA #2 jacks. This makes patching easy to create a 2-channel panner (one input panning between two outputs) and a fader (two inputs fading to one output).
Automatic connection between the two VCA channels also provides an easy way to do ring modulation (4-quadrant multiplier). Multiplying 2 audio signals produces frequencies that are the sum and differences of the originals resulting in inharmonic bell-like tones, a classic synthesizer function.
VCA channels #1 and #2 are mixed together along with a third un-attenuated channel in the center section. This gives you a 3-channel mixer with 2 of the channels having attenuators. The INVERT switch inverts the polarity of VCA #2's contribution to the mixer and is used to produce ring modulation.
Both VCAs have manual gain controls and VCA #2's invert switch provides simple signal processing functions."

Yamaha SS-30 String Synthesiser
Published on Dec 2, 2019 JMPSynth
"Quick demo of the Yamaha SS-30 String Synthesiser, one of two stringers favoured by Ultravox in the 1980's due to its lush sound.
Please forgive the picture quality from phone, the audio has been over-dubbed which is the important thing."
