Novation & AudioThing Offer SR-88 Plug-In for Free Through April 24

via @WeAreNovation

"For those able to stay home during these challenging times, we want to help make it as easy as possible for you to stay creative. For a Sound Collective special, we’ve partnered up with @audiothing to bring you the SR-88 plug-in for free until 27.04.20 >>> bit.ly/SC-AudioThing"

"Stay safe and stay creative: free analogue drum machine plug-in for Novation Sound Collective members
For those who are in the position to be staying at home during these challenging times, we want to help make it as easy as possible for you to stay creative. So, for a one-off Sound Collective special, we’ve partnered up with AudioThing to bring you the SR-88 plug-in for free as a limited-time giveaway for all members.

AudioThing’s SR-88 is a sample-based plug-in emulation of the Sound Master Memory Rhythm SR-88, a rare analogue drum machine from the ’80s. The instrument features five classic analogue sounds: kick, snare, hi hat 1, hi hat 2, and cymbal, which can be pitched, panned or mixed independently. You can shape the sound with the low-pass filter (zero delay feedback), overdrive, compressor and reverb.

The sequencer lets you easily build patterns, then flip each track’s sequence using the ‘random’ function. The result is limitless combinations and unusual patterns, which bring new creative aspects to your songs. Sequences can be dragged and dropped to your DAW/host, making it easy to build ideas quickly. AudioThing SR-88 is compatible with Mac and PC, in AU, VST2, VST3 and 64-bit AAX formats.

To join Sound Collective, simply register any Novation hardware product, then look out for a new offer every couple of months. No one else works with software manufacturers like we do to bring you inspirational tools for your next production. Find out more here.

The AudioThing SR-88 offer expires on April 27th 2020, and is running in addition to the Serato Sample LE plug-in already available as part of Sound Collective."

Novation // SL MkIII v1.3 - Unquantised Recording

Uploaded on Mar 27, 2020 NovationTV

"In this video, Enrique demonstrates the new feature of our firmware update for the SL MkIII. In firmware v1.3 is unquantised recording, which brings new flexibility and musicality to the built-in sequencer.

In the previous firmware version, we introduced micro-step editing, allowing users to position notes off the grid for subtle timing variations. With unquantised recording, users have the ability to record into these micro-steps. This means that the organic, human quality of performances and punched-in beats can be captured in all their wonky glory.

"From wonky beats and quick-fire fills to authentic-sounding strums and beyond, unquantised recording takes SL MkIII’s sequencer to new musical places.
We’re excited to bring an important new feature to the SL MkIII range of MIDI keyboard controllers. New in firmware v1.3 is unquantised recording, which brings new flexibility and musicality to the built-in sequencer.

In the previous firmware version, we introduced micro-step editing, allowing users to position notes off the grid for subtle timing variations. This means that the organic, human quality of performances and punched-in beats can be captured in all their wonky glory.

The ability to record off the grid in the SL MkIII sequencer has been one of the most requested features from users. Now, even the most rhythmically complex ideas can be captured without losing the vibe.

Buchla Cosmic Drone - Session 14 - Modular Drone Music Performance

Published on Mar 26, 2020 The Galaxy Electric

"Thanks for listening! Come on a musical voyage with us where we'll send you a new song every day, a cosmic story, and a chance to earn space treasure:

https://thegalaxyelectric.lpages.co/5...

Relax and tune into our live weekly improvised Drone Sessions. This fourteenth session involves a drone featuring two independent Buchla style complex and modulation oscillators starting in tune a couple octaves apart. As the oscillator frequencies drift apart by way of manual control, beating ensues. Listening to droning oscillators can serve as mindfulness sounds as there is no sudden changes in sound. Just smooth drifts in pitch and the resulting beat frequencies. Drones can also serve as an ambient track to have on while doing tasks that require intense focus. Drones are also great for a Sci-fi film soundtrack. The slow yet progressive nature of a drone performance can help one focus on tasks without distraction. The fact that we are manipulating these oscillators live and in collaboration helps the drone meander ever so smoothly in an evolving fashion as we are always reacting to one another's subtle movements. These movements are improvised so there is an unrehearsed and reactive ebb and flow to the tones generated. Engage in the practice deep listening with us.

The electronic music instruments used in this performance of modular drone music are the Buchla Music Easel, and a small system involving a Buchla clone model 259 Programmable Complex Waveform Generator, Buchla 292h Dual Lowpass Gate, and 281h Dual Function Generator in the Buchla LEM Powered 3 Boat.

Quick Jam with Softube Modular, Unfiltered Audio Byome and Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2

Published on Mar 26, 2020 Miltos Schimatariotis

"Just a quick jam while experimenting with Softube Modular and the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol keyboard. Since I haven't uploaded for a while I decided to capture this as a warm up for more videos to come soon.

Here I have a rather simple patch with two Doepfer oscillators and the Korgasmatron filter. One oscillator has a constant pitch while the other changes from the keyboard. Korgasmatron is used for some stereo filtering with the use of FM also.
Byome is used to create this background harmony by using a Resonator Bank with source the sound of the Modular itself. This Byome's patch can be found in the beautiful Carmen Bank by Simon Stockhausen."
