A look back at Windows Phone for musicians (FL Studio mobile on a Lumia 950XL)

Published on Apr 15, 2020 Floyd Steinberg

Funny intro. When support ends are the apps gone or do they remain on your phone?

"Here's a short look at what the now-very-dead Windows Phone could do for electronic music enthusiasts. I decided to show off FL Studio Mobile 'cause that's available for Android and IOS, too."

GrainBastard - Lockdown Vid 3

Published on Apr 10, 2020 Chris Gilkes

"Warning - The video contains flashing images.

My 3rd video of the lockdown and after seeing all the cool looking synth videos that are all dark with coloured lights blinking away, I thought i would try my own.... it didn’t look that lit due to being a battery powered setup that I’m trialling for use in my campervan, so i put a laser on. It’s still hard to see but it done now.

Anyway, it’s a noisy mix of :-
OP-1
PO-12 thru Korg Monotron
Ipad - Audiobus, Borderlands thru Eventide Blackhole
Korg Volca Sample - Pajen OS
Belkin headphone/passive mixer thing...

Need to get a better mixer solution, might look at the Volca Mix šŸ¤”"

The most human RICHARD DEVINE Interview on machines | Gamechanger Audio

Published on Apr 15, 2020 Gamechanger Audio

Some history with Native Instruments in this one.

"An interview with sound designer @Richard Devine from when he visited Riga, Latvia in October 2019. This seems to be one of the few interviews where we get to know the human side of Richard - his journey to the world of sound design. But don't fret, there's gear talk included!

Richard Devine is definitely a deep-sea creature. For the looks of it, this man embodies sunshine and his voice could easily soothe all your troubles away, but put him in front of the right gear and a whole new world arises. From techno beats, rave sets and frequencies that scratch the most inner parts of your brain to useful sound design of everyday tools - Richard lives a life where every knock, beep and screech is a part of a bigger picture. He’s known for his enthusiasm towards gear and companies that help him shake that picture into cosmic rays. That’s why we had to sit him down and see how that kind of brain developed into what it is. Turns out, it’s not as mysterious as we thought, but it’s definitely a life that sounds a lot different than we could imagine."

"The Thingamagoop was created by Bleep Labs because they felt that 'there are not nearly enough beeping, zapping, bixxerfouping, anthropomorphic synthesizer monsters in the world'. You can think of it as one of those baby toys that makes random noises with flashing lights, but designed for adults. While it looks like a robot, it’s actually an analog type synthesizer that’s controlled by a photocell, a couple of switches and a knob, instead of a keyboard. Varying levels and different types of light will produce different beeping tones, while the frequency can be adjusted by using the knob on the front of the device."

"Gorgeous, original vintage Juno 106 in excellent condition, no issues, sounds awesome. This is the OG Japanese version, 100v, with attached ac cable. You won’t find a cleaner, better playing example of THE definitive analog polysynth."

"This legendary bassline synth doesn't really need an introduction, instant '80's sound. It's been used but in great condition. It comes with a non-original power adapter."
