MUSON SYNTHESIZER Custom Knob Hack

We Hacked A $500 VINTAGE TOY SYNTHESIZER Simon The Magpie

"With some help from my good buddy JW OTTO I finally hacked the MUSON SYNTHESIZER! No bending = super safe diy. It’sstill a pain to use.. but a cooler pain now (insertcoolemoji)"

So that's how the Muson works. Interesting hack. The colored "switches" or rather patch points have different levels of resistance to alter the pitch and sequence. So why not make replacement switches with knobs/potentiometers to attenuate the connection?

Model:Cycles and Roland SE-02 session at Patchwerks!

"In this video Matthew Piecora (aka EZBOT) jams with the Elektron Model:Cycles and the Roland SE-02. The Model:Cyles is the source for all the percussion, leads, and chords while the SE-02 is the proud supplier of the bassline. The idea behind this video was to a digital drum machine/groovebox with a fully analog synthesizer. The Model:Cycles is unable to hide its digital quality and I would have it no other way, that goes for the SE-02 and it's warm analog sound.

From Roland: "A collaborative effort from Roland and Studio Electronics, the SE-02 is the debut product of the new Roland Boutique Designer Series. The SE-02 uses authentic discrete analog circuitry to create a synthesizer with a distinctly vintage sound and vast programming options. With an array of high-quality knobs and switches and a uniquely creative onboard sequencer, the SE-02 delivers massive tone and texture with expressive hands-on control."

From Elektron: "Scale angles dense and jagged, glide over plains vast and fluid, or sink into mists of dissonance. To model is to shape the formless. Model:Cycles is a six track FM based groovebox that brings exploring into the heart of sound sculpting. With six unique Machines in one lightweight unit you can effortlessly mold rhythm and melody across the digital spectrum using instant, tactile controls. Exploration made attainable."

The world of MicroTuning // Novation Live

NovationTV

"In this livestream -CALC- explores the vast world of MicroTuning - looking at what MicroTuning actually means, how to use it musically and how you can create your own MicroTuning tables from scratch and using existing resources. In this live -CALC- uses the Novation Summit alongside the Peak and Bass Station II, which have very powerful MicroTuning systems.

SOMA Lab ORNAMENT-8 Organismic Sequencer

ORNAMENT-8 organismic sequencer. Demo (SOMA Lab)

Vlad Kreimer

"An experimental analog modular sequencer based on a completely new principle of synthesis of behaviour."

ORNAMENT-8 self developing composition (demo by SOMA Lab)

"Example of generative self-developing composition"

ORNAMENT-8 example of performance. (demo by SOMA laboratory)

via SOMA Lab

"ORNAMENT can be controlled via Eurorack-compatible Control Voltage. The output of ORNAMENT is also standard CV signals that can control LYRA-8, PULSAR-23, Eurorack systems and any equipment that can receive CV, including non-audio ones such as lighting setups or electromechanical installations. For controlling LYRA-8 we developed a special adapter for easy connection to the LYRA sensors while also preserving the ability to play it normally with your fingers.

The adapter attaches to LYRA’s surface using magnets which make installation easy and safe. ORNAMENT, as an organismic sequencer, complements LYRA’s organismic synthesis nature, making them a perfect pair.

ORNAMENT-8 is based on a completely new principle of synthesis of behaviour. Instead of a vertical structure with a tempo generator on top and some memory for storing sequenced events, we have a dynamic equilibrium inside a horizontal structure without any memory, just an infinite “now” that generates the next moment of behaviour. In certain key aspects, it resembles a neural network where there is no difference between “processor” and “memory”, where functions are blurred and all structures are very flexible. Because the ORNAMENT is fully modular, you can connect any number of ORNAMENTs into a single network, creating very complex multi-dimensional structures with the same complex behaviour. For those with philosophical inclinations, ORNAMENT is a playground the size of a box of chocolates where you can study fundamental laws of life and society, going beyond linear logical thinking.

ORNAMENT-8 was designed by Vadim Minkin, the new creative mind who recently joined SOMA laboratory. ORNAMENT is intended to be the first in a line of SOMA sequencers developing new principles of behaviour generation and control."

MajorOSC - Mercury for Argon8 - Arriving September

Major OSC

https://www.majorosc.com

"Mercury is a full patch bank in development for the Argon8, containing some of the most expressive and original sounding presets ever heard from MajorOSC.

By a happy mistake, the Big Sky reverb return track was left on enabled in OBS on the first recording. But it wouldn't be right not to share the results!

The re-record without the Big Sky reverb begins at around 11:30"

MAKEN0ISE SYNC and FOLLOW with DPO

MAKEN0ISE

"Let’s talk about the DPO a little bit, and specifically the way the two oscillators affect each other to create hybrid timbres. Aside from the obvious FM and Mod Bus cross modulation available in the DPO, the two oscillators are also connected by the Follow and Sync circuits, which are very useful when developing complex sounds.

Scrotum Lab SL25 PLAYER-REVERB Prototype

batchas

Some info via batchas:

'The module will be available in 4U for Serge and Buchla. It might take a while until ready as I just ordered new proto boards, reducing the functionality I had in mind which turned out not to be the best solution. It will also take a while until the buchla brushed silkscreen panels are ready.

The top part of the module is based on open source Radio Music by Tom Whitwell (Music Thing).
The bottom part is based on open source Spring Reverb MK2, also by Tom, who kindly gave me green light to make these projects. It’s open source, but still I asked for his permission.

I actually already made an adaptation of the Radio Music for the BugBrand system."

circuitbenders.co.uk drumBs x3 demo2

circuitbenders.co.uk

"Based on a tweaked E&MM syntom II percussion synth circuit, the drumBs PCB can be built as a standalone percussion box or as a Eurorack module.

Its driven by standard analogue trigger pulses and has controls for:
Decay
Bend (Oscillator frequency & noise filter cutoff)
Pitch (Oscillator)
Cutoff (noise filter)
Resonance (noise filter)
Mix (between oscillator and noise)
Pulse (the attack pulse on the front of the sound)
Roll (the speed of the drum roll function triggered by a gate signal on a eurorack build, or a switch on a standalone build)

On this video the black module is doing the hats, the green one provides the bass drum, and the the red one is producing the clap/snare noise sounds."

How to draw your own Wavetables with the Graphic VCO from Erica Synths

Dziam Bass

"Hey All!

You want to DRAW your own Wavetables in a module - Here You go!

The Graphic VCO from Erica Synths is a wavetable module with a lot of functions, I looked through a bit with drawing and a look at some effects.🔥

Mainly I wanted to show you a wide range that you can draw your own wavetables yourself, you can save them later also use them and combine them with others also yours or others provided in Graphic VCO.

A little o the same module .... Erica Synths Graphic VCO allows you to draw your own waveforms, arrange them in wavetables and wavetable banks, morph between two selected waves and alter the resulting wave in advanced ways (FXes) - apply FM, phase distortion , ring modulation, wavefold / wavewrap, bitcrush.

I really like Morphing between two selected waves, Wavetable matrix design and other great features, but that's what I'll show in the second part.

as I mentioned here drawing and adding a few effects as modulators."
