a-ha - Take On Me VST ! - OP-X PRO-II
video upload by virtualoberheim
"A more analog sounding cover of this iconic track. The used sounds can be downladed as bank on this site: https://www.sonicprojects.ch/opxpro2/...
In the original track the bass came from a DX-7 and the lead was a PPG Wave layered with a Juno-60.
In this cover video all sounds except for the choir (Steinberg Halion One) are coming from OP-X PRO-II and so sound a bit warmer and fuller.

Tons of pics of the inside below.
"So far it's been recapped, chips reseated in sockets and rewired connections where needed. One CEM3340 oscillator changed with a new original Curtis CEM3340 rev G. I will add another one as a spare part. We have also replaced touch dial pad with a new one. New old stock Burr Brown DAC.
Things to do:
One filter needs replacement.
Synths plays but it's out of tune and sometimes panel controls stop responding.
There is obviously more to service after all of the things we did so far."

"New OM-1 Cassette Synthesizer (with batteries)
Pitch Controller
OM-1 Sound Tape 01 - Vox / Flute
OM-1 Sound Tape 02 - Mello Strings / Juno 106
OM-1 Sound Tape 03 - Worn Out Tape / Guitar Feedback
OM-1 Sound Tape 04 - Granular Piano / OB6
3V center positive wall adapter
Extra cassette player!
The OM-1 Cassette Synthesizer is an analog musical instrument built around the concept that when a continuous tone/note is recorded to tape, its pitch will change as the tape's playback speed is increased or decreased. Individual notes are playable via the 8 buttons (keys), each with a tuning knob directly above it. The volume of the notes can be articulated by using the pressure sensitive volume control - the harder its pressed, the louder the note. A three position switch controls attack/release response of the audio output - Short, Medium, and Long. CV/Gate inputs allow control over the cassette's pitch and volume from a linear (non-quantized) voltage sequencer.
While loosely inspired by instruments like the Mellotron® and Ondes Martenot, the OM-1 has a sound all its own. Because it uses a standard cassette tape as its audio source, the sound creation possibilities are endless. The OM-1 is engineered for experimentation."

"Live performance up Goodwood with just enough warmth to play without gloves on! I had tried to get this one right at a couple of different spots for a weeks or so but I knew when heading up the hill this time that I was going to get a first take :) After grabbing all the footage I went on to the Pillbox in Graffham woods to just dodge the rain and record my next one."
