GEMINI 2412 User Guide Part 2: The Mix Bus (Dual Output, Audio, Frequency & CV control of filters)

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"Part 2 of 3. The AJH Synth Gemini 2412 Dual Multi-mode SEM-based VCF explained. The 3-part User Guide will cover this very complex and fully-featured, yet simple to use analogue filter. This part will explain the central mixing bus section of the filter, and how it can be used to control the audio and CV balance, and cutoff frequency of both VCF's simultaneously, and how the dual filter (parallel) and cascaded filter (in series) modes work. Part 1 concentrated on the individual filters and their functions: [posted here] Part 3 will cover using the both filters together with the mixing bus, and how this element enables both VCF's to function together as a single, huge filter, either in series or parallel, along with patch examples, including using the Gemini as a stereo filter.

DX5 Playing The Human League "Empire State Human"

video upload by DX5

"One of the most interesting synth song from 1979 (early synth days, when bands started to experiment using those machines only).

Gear used:
Roland Promars MRS-2 (Jupiter 4 little brother)
Roland JP8000
Revox B77 MkII

Backtrack previously recorded on Pro Tools, then dumped to tape at 15 Inch Per Second, using the Promars for nearly all the sounds except kick drum and hi hat. Access Virus TI Snow also used.

Original song composed by Martyn Ware, Ian Craig Marsh and Philip Oakey.

Performed here by DX5 Jose María Bará"

For lovers of the melancholic Mellotron sounds it is the song at all.
The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin from the year 1967.
One of my parents favorite songs.
Of course I don't have a huge, old Mellotron from the 60s. I use my Roland M-VS1 'Vintage Synth' module for this, which has wonderful Mellotron samples. In the song I use the sounds: MelloFlute, MelloStrings (3Violins) and two parts of the MelloChoir. The module is controlled by my Oberheim OB-Xk master keyboard controller via MIDI. The other sounds (drums, bass, guitar) come from the E-MU Emax sampling synthesizer

Empress Zoia Euroburo // Design your own synth

video upload by Starsky Carr

"A review and demo of the Empress Zoia showing how I've found I've been using it for the past 6 months. The Zoia Euroburo is both simply stunning and creatively complex, but it's up to you how deep you want to go. From using it as a pure effects unit to wizard level modular programming it can become a completely immersive experience.

I have been using it in 4 situations:
1. As a complex single modular system in one unit
2. Using the preset FX and those from patchstorage - simple but stunning
3. Integrating with your system using its Utilities and functions
4. As a mini modular synth.. design your own Synth. ITS FUN!"

Dreadbox Nymphes: 49 Mono Presets: Lead, Bass, Pluck, Chord

video upload by Anton Anru

"'Monophonics' is a collection of 49 monophonic presets for Dreadbox Nymphes. It includes: 14 Basses (Banks A and B), 14 Leads (C and D), 14 Plucks (E and F), 7 Chords (G).

The soundset is suitable for many genres: ambient, electronica, IDM, trip-hop, lounge, downtempo, chill out, new age, cinematic, trance, deep, progressive, techno, industrial, breakbeat, breaks, jungle, drum and bass, dub and others.
➡️ Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/dreadbox/

All presets are Velocity-sensitive and have ModWheel modulations. The presets are dry, I didn't use Nymphes built-in reverb. But you may add any portion of reverb according to your situation, or use third-party effects.

Make sure you are using the latest Nymphes firmware (2.0.1 or higher).

The soundset is in a SYSEX format. It can be sent to the device via regular SYSEX apps, like SysEx Librarian (Mac) or MIDI-OX (Win).

Before sending the presets, make sure you've made a backup. After uploading the new bank, all previous user presets will be erased.

Connect Nymphes to the computer via USB.
Open SysEx app and choose Nymphes in MIDI port settings.
Add .syx file to the app. Drag & Drop or File Open/Add.
Choose this file in the list.
Push Play/Send in the app.
Sending process takes about a minute.
Have fun.

Minilogue XD - TWICE! // Layering the XD for a full track!

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"Still loving the Minilogue XD. An awesome little synth. This track uses just two layers of it, one a plucky arp with a hint of noise for grittiness, and the other a thick, warm pad to round out the sound. Both are running through Soundtoys Decapitator for extra goodness!!"

"This is a Roland MKS-70, produced in 1986. It's the rack mount version of the Roland JX-10, which is itself essentially two JX-8P synths. It's a beautiful analog synth, renowned for its lush pad sounds, as can be heard on many Aphex Twin records, including Syro.

I'm including the original manual, two cartridges, and the PG-800, which is absolutely essential for editing sounds... I don't recommend purchasing one of these without it."
