"synth_nyc has launched a new website where visitors can experience 24bit 96kHz synthesizers demos of custom patches, with continuous audio playback while navigating on the site.
This could be the first site to offer such user experience.
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec)
The audio content on the Internet is usually using lossy audio codecs (AAC, Vorbis, etc…) with about 100Kb/s, and may not necessarily showcase the full sonic quality of the synthesizers we are getting today. synth_nyc site is featuring a lossless audio codec; FLAC.
You will be getting 3Mb/s audio streams.
How does it work? The principle is simple, audio demos masters (24bit 96kHz PCM / WAV) are FLAC compressed (encoded) on the web server; and decompressed (decoded) ‘real-time’ by your Internet browser client while streamed. There is also a network of web servers distributed worldwide so the content is always close to your location.
Continuous Audio Playback
The principle is simple also: as soon as you press Play on any page on the site, a ’sticky’ player will also show-up on the page footer
Then you can, if you want navigate to another page.
And the track will continue playing with no disruption.
You may also - at any moment - click the 4 horizontal bars on the sticky player to display the track list / playlist currently selected"

Rare Elex Excelsior EK4 Strings & Brass Synth SN 6937

"Extremely rare italian string machine, built by Elex (ELettronica EXcelsior), also sold by Hohner at some point.
Very close in sound to the Crumar Performer or Elka Rhapsody.
It offers Strings and Brass section, with independent volume for each instruments, a very nice filter in the brass section, as well as vibrato, and the string section has long crescendo and sustain settings.
Unit was serviced and is in very good working order except for the attack in the Brass section that doesn't work. This synth use a very rare SSM2050 chipset as the enveloppe generator on the brass section. This is the same chip used in the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 and the RSF Kobol for instance. It simply can't be found anywhere. But if you are lucky to own one you can most probably fix the attack on the brass section ;-) Apart from that everything is working. Capacitor in the power supply were replaced and synth was calibrated. It uses the typical "ensemble" effect based on a triple BBD chorus, with the same TCA350 chipsets you have in the Eminent Solina, Crumar Performer, Logan String Melody and so many more classic string synths.
Cosmetic wise the synth is in good condition, especially considering the rather cheap build quality. But of course it has some scuffs here and there."

"Like nearly all the high end vintage analog synths we sell, this item has been METICULOUSLY disassembled, cleaned inside and out, FULLY serviced by professionals who’ve been servicing and selling vintage synths for more than the last 3 decades, and systematically tested multiple times over a long period to ensure it’s working exactly as it should. No BS. No ebay surprises. We’re perfectionists and don’t cut corners. Although this instrument came to us in relatively good shape, we want our items to be better than the rest and invested *many* hours of tech time plus parts costs to fully overhaul this unit so it would be clean, working like new again and as reliable as possible for its next owner. This was a serious investment of time, love, and money, and was definitely worth the effort and is of course reflected in the higher than usual price. If you’re looking for a great sounding example of this model that works just like it should without needing to invest hundreds or thousands of dollars in tech fees and waiting from weeks to years, this one should make you very happy.
We paid our tech for 10 hours of work to refurbish this unit so it would be better than others on the market. He did the following work to it:
Replaced all LEDs.
Cleaned unit inside and out, including removing the typical moog foam that turns to tar
Replaced power supply electrolytic capacitors for longevity
Cleaned and lubed key contacts
Removed and remounted AC cable
Recalibrated VCOs, checked VCF and VCA"

48 high-resolution custom wavetables with 64 waves per table.. a total of 64 high-resolution user wavetables.. 7 high-resolution modeled analog waveforms (including continuously variable color noise)..
