"ARP Odyssey Mk. II, 2813 model. It has the 4075 VCF. I just had it serviced and it sounds great. Here is what was done:

* The keyboard was refurbished. All the bushings were replaced and the key contacts were cleaned.

* All tantalum caps were replaced with more stable caps, including the power supply and 4075 VCF.

* The VCF cutoff frequency was enhanced, so it goes way above 11 K Hertz now.

* The octave selector switch was cleaned.

* VCO 1 & 2 volts/octave trimmer was replaced and scaling was recalibrated.

* VCO 1 S&H switch and VCO2 Mixer switch were disassembled and cleaned.

* New LED slider kit installed."

"I am honored to be invited to compose the music for "Der Einsiedler," a science fiction written by the Chinese novelist Liu Yang. The novel was translated into German and published in the magazine "Kapsel" (Time Capsule). A cassette tape was launched simultaneously, with German reading on side A and music on side B, which I composed with the Wing Pinger, Wingie2 & Magneto, the further experimentation of Wing Pinger + resonators in a feedback loop. I named this piece of music Novel Back.

In this story, a successful businessman encloses himself in a deep underground bunker. Disconnected from the world starts a journey leading him to the universe's end and beyond. "We spoke to Giovanni from Frap Tools at Superbooth 2023 about their new Cunsa quadruple analog multimode resonant filter. This filter has a unique open architecture with semi-normalizations that can be used in different ways such as double stereo, single quadruple, or quadruple mono, and is designed to not lose bass at high Q resonance settings. The Cunsa's character knob can tame distortion and imparts a different character to the sound depending on how it is rotated. Combining these parameters, Cunsa can produce a wide variety of effects, and the filter has a ping circuit, turning it into a sound source with a natural and organic decay.

Superbooth 2023: Bastl - BASIL

"At Superbooth 2023, we caught up with Vaclav from Bastl Instruments, who was showcasing the company's new delay module BASIL. BASIL is a compact, modulatable 8HP stereo delay with stereo input and output. Modulation can achieve chorus and flanger effects and also modulates well with ramps for pitch shifting, reversing and more. It has a dry/wet fader, feedback which is bipolar, and when modulated with bipolar CVs, it can get narrow or wide feedback. It also has a time knob with a button that allows users to flip stereo detune between left and right channel. Additionally, BASIL has a space section with various features including blur for diffusion, filter, and multi-taps. The space section also has a compressor in the feedback path, so it never gets out of control when feedback is cranked. BASIL is available now for €267 without tax, and Bastl Instruments is shipping in three weeks from early June.

Superbooth 2023: Neuzeit - Warp

"Thomas from Neuzeit showed us Warp, a new monophonic synthesizer voice that features wavetable and additive synthesis. When connected to an expander, the Warp can also become a four-voice polyphonic unit. The oscillator has an XY grid that allows for intuitive drawing of frequency spectra and wavetables, with different locations creating different sounds, and the ability to create and save custom wavetables for use on other synths. The Warp has the standard features of detune, oscillator, and sync, and can create a range of sounds from glassy to grungy.

The Warp's most impressive feature is the intuitive and fun-to-use editor, where users can draw their own frequency spectra and wavetables onto the XY grid using various algorithms. The user can alter the transition and position of the sounds on the grid to achieve their desired sound, and the editor allows the user to load various wavetable files from an SD card. The Warp can also export the whole XY grid as a wavetable in different formats.
