"Doepfer Dark Energy MK I, the first model with the legendary and since discontinued Curtis chips. It was based on the Doepfer MS-404 which was a TB 303 adjacent synth with its own character. Suffice to say it can do some blistering acid leads, but this thing is extremely versatile, check the posted videos for what I mean.
This is a a compact and powerful monophonic analog synthesizer. Known for its robust build, intuitive interface, and rich sound, the Dark Energy is an excellent tool for both studio musicians and live performers. Its semi-modular design allows for vast sound shaping possibilities without the need for patch cables, but it also provides a myriad of patch points for modular connectivity.
This thing has a HUGE sound. The first time I performed with this on a big system I was blown away but its density within the soundstage.

Pure Analog Signal Path: VCO, VCF, VCA, LFO, and envelope generator are all 100% analog for a rich and organic sound.

"This Akai AX-80 came to me with the dreaded membrane buttons not working. I had my synth tech go thru it with a fine toothed comb. He re-flowed all the solder on all the circuit boards for the buttons, recapped the power supply, & upgraded the EPROM with the latest OS/Firmware that allows you to upload individual SYSEX files via MIDI, and replaced the battery. I also made some new custom end cheeks from 50 year old cedar that I had on hand, clear coated with poly. Original cheeks included. Plays great, although it is a vintage (40 year old) unit and has it’s quirks. Factory banks loaded as well as User A & B loaded with custom patches (a few sound like Yazoo and Depeche Mode patches!) This is is a fantastic old synth and especially sounds great through some reverb and delay! You won’t find a fully functioning one this nice very easily."
