DSP-99 Multi-FX Digital Reverb & Delay - DIY Module Build & Demo - Eurorack Modular Synth DIY - #9

video upload by M0THM4N

Audio demo at 3:35.

"In today's episode, I build and demo a DSP-99 based eurorack module I found through a Modwiggler forum. Let me know what modules I should build next!

Check out the DSP-99 Modwiggler forum project here:

"DSP-99 is based on Wavefront AL3201 DSP chip, Cirrus Logic CS4220 audio codec and Atmega8AU for control and display.

It has 100 programs, although many of them differ little. Nonetheless it's quite good investment for this money.

As DSP has rather low signal level tolerance (compared to eurorack levels), clipping indicator was included. Signal indicator was also added for convenience."

Roland Jupiter 6 lamentations

video upload by MIDERA

"Exploring the bandpass filter. I actually wrote this immediately prior to 'ambient arpeggiations' but didn't like this as much, so I posted it afterwards (now, that is).

I don't have much else to say. I'm still working through the junkyard that is my 'studio', wondering 'do I even need this piece of junk?' (not in reference to the Jupiter 6. I just have so much stuff that I got back in 2014 when I thought I would be some great big photographer or musician, hahahaha. I laugh - because it was silly. I don't really care about any of those things, I'd have had to sacrifice being with my kids, and they just mean more to me than the success I could have had. But that's just what I like to tell my unmotivated self.

Also - somehow my JP6 got out of tune while I was playing. I pressed the TUNE button and it all went back to good, but sorry about that. Whoops.

Strymon Volante and Eventide Blackhole VST used for FX."

Abstrakt Avalon Filter Cartridge Demo: R:OTA, 2044, and SEM filters.

video upload by manmade madman

"This is a quick demonstration of 3 of the available filter cartridges you can purchase and plug into an Avalon. These work alongside the internal 303 filter via a toggle switch. With this button pushed, it engages the filter cartridge. It expands upon the original TB-303 design and allows more tonal range and effects.

R:OTA = the Roland JP and SH series filters
2044 = The SSM filters from classic synths like the Prophet and Polysix
SEM = Oberheim SEM multimode filter

Ladder filter = based on the Moog filter (not shown) is also available

Lastly in the video, I show the FR button which toggles between a 6db filter at 70Hz and 30Hz."

"Only effects are a bit of stereo reverb. Probably not exact but it sounds close enough for me."

FEEDBACK by Ultraviolet Light

This one is in via Todd Barton who co-curated the release.

"Cassette label Ultraviolet Light is ecstatic to announce Feedback, a compilation of new works from Todd Barton, Dan Deacon, Dani Dobkin, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Doug Lynner, Toshimaru Nakamura, Sarah Belle Reid, Ryan Gaston, Jimmy Joe Roche, and Keith Fullerton Whitman. Each track utilizes some form of acoustic feedback, no-input mixing or recursive patching techniques as the central compositional principle.

Closed circuit and acoustic feedback have been prominent features within experimental electronic compositions for well over 50 years. In 1968 Steve Reich made extensive use of audio Feedback in his work “Pendulum Music”. David Tudor and Alvin Lucier incorporated feedback systems in many iconic compositions. Much of John Cage's interest and questions of noise and its relation to music could be seen as an extension of concepts explored when artists introduce feedback into their performances and recording. Arguably the most prolific and influential artist who integrated feedback into her compositions is the French composer Éliane Radigue.

Feedback is released as a 300-copy limited edition cassette with 4-color risograph printed artwork by Never Brush my Teeth. A digital download card is included with each cassette. 60% of the digital sales of the album will be donated to Earth Justice annually.

Curated by Todd Barton and Jimmy Joe Roche.
