But if you want to have ago yourself, this is the second easiest way.. just follow these 10 easy steps. It's a simple enough tone to recreate, but to get it as close as possible you'll need 3 LFOs. "Today I'm going to talk to you about my Intellijel system. It's been with me for a loooong time this one. I don't change it much because I find it very well laid out and powerfull as it is. When the Cascadia came out it gave a GAS crisis but I realized I had somewhat of the same thing in an interface I designed myself with this set of modules.
This is why I'm going to show you it can be a Roland SH-101 as well as a Buchla 'Music Easel' (actually more a 208 'Stored Program Sound Source" module).
It's also kind of a love letter to Intellijel in general for being awesome. No sponsor of any kind here as I bought all the Intellijel modules and case myself and they did not asked me to a video on this either.

"I made a send out of my joystick (it has built in vcas) so I could route new sounds through the looper. Additionally I have a manual gate routed through the Herzlich Labs OMEN lpg to create a soft envelope that modulates the filter frequency for my main sound (in a way acting as a vca as well).
The bulk of the looping is done with the VENO-ECHO. Phonogene is used as an 'on the side looper' set at a shorter time. I had monitoring on for both VCOs that I used (which I didn't record) - otherwise it would be impossible to stay somewhat in tune."

It brings the specifics of 'CZ' style phase distortion (PD) synthesis into Eurorack with the inclusion of primary and secondary oscillator layering and detuning (with up to 8 voice chord generation), extended morphable PD wave generation algorithms, unique resonance wave generation, plus specific 'end of chain' ring modulation and noise modes that are key to the CZ sound.

The voices also feature built in VCAs and various modulation controls and inputs, a cv-able chord mode, tracking ability, triggered mode switching and can be output independently or mixed with stereo widening.

"ALM / Busy Circuits invited artists Satoshi and Makoto, renowned Casio CZ synthesists, to the Clockface Modular shop and studio in Tokyo, Japan to try out the new ALM CIZZLE module. This short film documents the visit and provides a translated interview.

Satoshi and Makoto are a twin duo that received international acclaim in 2017 with the release of their debut album 'CZ-5000 Sounds and Sequences' on Safe Trip. In 2020, their follow up album "CZ-5000 Sounds and Sequences Vol. II” was released, solidifying their dedication to the Casio CZ synthesizer.

Cizzle: a killer Casio CZ-style voice from ALM / Busy Circuits

"Cizzle is a Eurorack synth voice from ALM Busy Circuits based around Phase Distortion synthesis, which Casio pioneered in their CZ series back in the 1980s.

It contains two digital oscillators that would typically be combined and used as one voice, but you can also use them independently. Each oscillator can produce four-note chords and has its own VCA, so all you need is an envelope or two to start using this as a complete voice.

Mystic Explorations by The Animals at Night

"'Mystic Explorations' is a collection of songs written and recorded around the Mystic desktop synthesizer, which I designed for Recovery Effects. Each track was recorded in the early evenings of February, 2024, where I would start by going for a walk with my dog, Jackson, looking for inspiration. These cold, night-time walks centered around a cemetary in our neighborhood, known as a home and hunting spot for coyotes. I would record audio from these walks and use it as the backdrop for each track as I worked on it.

The Mystic is used as the main sound source for these songs, while accompanied by drum machines such as the MPC One, Syncussion SY-1 (built by myself), Roland T-8, and Roland Drumatix TR-06. I used modulation sources from my Eurorack synthesizer, MPC One, and Korg SQ-1. I used effects devices such as the Vongon Polyphrase, Chase Bliss Habit, and Strymon Magneto. All of these effects were synced via MIDI and / or CV and used in tandem with the CV controls on the Mystic to further modulate and enhance the compositions. I recorded bass guitar on the opening track, 'Dream or Memory'.

This was an exciting project to showcase the many sounds the Mystic can achieve, as well as challenging myself to create an entire record with one primary sound source. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun making it.
