ONO-SENDAI New Firmware 1.5 Quick and dirty demo

video upload by SPHERICAL SOUND SOCIETY

"This is a quck and dirty demo of the new firmware. Please excuse the poor lightning and some parts where the audio distorts. It sounds way better live but it's Ok to grasp the new functionalities:

-Now it load presets
-Redesigned Graphic Interface
-Clearer sound (no glitches)
-Coarse pot plays in chromatic scale (always in tune, you still can detune with fine pot)
-Easier/more logic interface (recorded parameter locks are implemented as you release the REC button, no need to turn another pot/key)

Some more demos will come soon.

All new ONO-SENDAIs ship with the new firmware. Previous customers can download the update here:

Siluria, playable drone synth, first patch

video upload by Gechologic

"Siluria combines a few sound engines and effects, one of the voices is playable by a 12-tone touch keyboard. The main drone frequency is directly controllable by one of the knobs, additional harmonics can be added by precisely tuning fractional delays and reverbs. There are pre-defined scales, with base note following the main frequency in a quantized manner (this can be configured differently in another patch). It is a completely digital synth but the analog potentiometers are used for precise, high resolution control. Their smooth feel, instant response and the synergy that emerges from the seemingly infinite combinations of their positions, makes playing with Siluria a very pleasant and addictive experience :)

What you hear is an unprocessed and unedited output. Everything is recorded to the SD card, in perfect quality, so nothing is lost. Sound from the camera was mixed in as well, so you can hear the button click."

Siluria, mangling the radio in real time

video upload by Gechologic

"Siluria has a stereophonic line input and a built-in FM radio, so you can mangle the external sound beyond recognition! Randomly caught clips from the radio can add very interesting textures to your drones. In addition to this, you can import WAV files on the SD card for further processing.

A few effects can be applied, such as filter, reverb, delay and flanger (in another patch, you can get a different set of effects associated to the knobs).

Their smooth feel, instant response and the synergy that emerges from the seemingly infinite combinations of their positions, makes playing with Siluria a very pleasant and addictive experience :)

Donner MEDO synthesizer editor walkthrough

video upload by Floyd Steinberg

"In the last video I said I'd post an update on the MEDO once the apps are working properly, which happened to be two days later. My apologies, this video is a bit improvised but I think you should get an impression what's possible here. Original video is here: • Donner MEDO review: a well-thought ou...

Loscha Plays - Artec "Octave Drive" SE-OCT OTA Boss OC-2 style circuit with added DIRTY DRIVE mode.

video upload by Edward Jones

Wait for it.

"I forgot to adjust the tiny trimmer inside the unit! D'Oh!
Upon reflection, it is probably a drive control, as the knob on front panel just adds in the volume of the distorted sound, not the quality of the distortion."

Sakata DPM-48 (aka Multivox) DEMOS

"Sakata DPM-48 drum machine aka Mulitvox or Jugg Box

I was getting swarmed by mosquitoes during my short demo/photoshoot so it's a bit hectic and the camera mic does not do the sound justice. TOMS 3 and 4 do not distort as it seems in the clip. They are deep and raucous, outdoing even the BASS 1/2/3. OTOH TOMS 1 and 2 are very faint. I don't know if a slider cleaning can fix this or if it needs a tech but I am selling as is and what you see and hear is what you get. The sequencer also works and you can vary the tempo via sync or the tempo knob which has a loose cover. Maybe some tinfoil of paper would get it to stay put. I switched out the video to reflect this. The original one remains on Youtube as well.

The RAM cart works because you can't program the machine without it. I pulled it out and the machine won't go into RUM mode, I put it back in and it played again.

What makes the DPM-48 interesting for contemporary production use is that there is a company in Germany that offers a MIDI cart and expanded ROM sounds kit for this machine which you can find on Youtube. The MIDI cart uses the RAM cart slot, so no alterations to the machine are needed. This allows integration into a multi-machine recording environment and the additional sounds also pass though the circuitry of the DPM-48. You sync the standard DPM-48 via the included DIN sync port in the back, if you prefer to program the machine old skool using the cart."
