"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. For me, an Ableton Live user since version 2, Ableton can’t do no wrong - not that their products are so great but my deep-fried meme video brain has just become too used to hand-drawing midi notes in an Excel style grid while clipping the master and conjuring CPU peaks with a janky Max4Live patch.

Today we are going to talk about Ableton Move. While previous Bad Gear-worthy Ableton hardware didn’t really tickle my fancy, this brand-new 2022 ableton move leak incarnate, unholy lovechild of the iOS app ableton note and ableton Push 3 sawed in half and “Mom, can we have Novation Circuit - there is novation Circuit tracks at home” hipster toy and groovebox with akai MPC pads was an instabuy for me.

'Today I'll show you some stuff with the new module by Schlappi Engineering, the BTFLD! It's the new member of the 4-Bit logic family by Schlappi Engineering but this one is the most audio oriented as it's main use are wavefolding, fuzz and distortion. It's small but hell it sounds BIG. It can also make weird things to CV and gates, and even be used to convert any signal into 4-Bit so you can use it to modulate / feed your other 4-Bit modules (Nibbler / BTMX)."

BTFLD (Bit Fold) is a distortion, wavefolder, and four bit asynchronous analog to digital converter. The folding output at audio rate provides a hard sync like timbre in a unique sawtooth wavefolder circuit.

The stepped output is a type of bit crushed effect and the square wave outputs provide different frequency multiplications or distortions.

Rhythms can also be generated by putting envelopes or LFOs into the input and using the bit outputs as gates.

It can also be paired with the rest of our four bit binary system (Nibbler, BTMX) for experiments in four bit computing and unusual logic based patching.

These kits are specially designed for use in modern dance music such as Techno, Electro, Hip Hop, IDM, Minimal etc. The kits are designed in such a way that the kick, snare, clap etc. are always in the same place. This way you can easily try out kits with the same drum pattern without having to adjust them.

Most kits also use the built-in FX to give them even more punch and/or grit but can easily be turned off or adjusted to taste. We have designed the widest possible palette of sounds that are actually usable. So we don't have crazy FX sounds that you will never use. Eurorack standard 3U 6HP size

Power supply: 10mA (±12V), 20mA (5V)

2-oscillator digital VCO using Seeed XIAO RA4M1.

Supports V/oct, and the waveform can be selected from 16 types of wavetable.

The frequencies of OSC1 and OSC2 are always in a relative position relationship, and detune and overtones can be added by shifting the frequency of OSC2.

OSC1 FREQ POT: Adjusts the reference frequency of OSC1 and OSC2
OSC2 FREQ POT: Adjusts the frequency of OSC2 relative to OSC1. Can be set from 0 oct to 2 octs above.
OSC2 volume POT: Adjusts the volume of OSC2
OSC2 volume CV in: CV input for adjusting the volume of OSC2
Wave push SW: Selects the wavetable. 16 types in total.
V/oct IN: V/oct input, range is 0~5V.
