PWM Mantis // It's not a synth.. it's a time machine // Review and Demo

video upload by Starsky Carr

"PWM's Mantis has done it again, given us a very unique and characterful synth full of vibe. Its a mono/duo/quad hybrid, with digital oscillators (16 in total), 2 analog filters and a whole host of really interesting bits and pieces.

Following in the Malevolent's footsteps it continues PWMs affordable ethos, while hammering home a tonne of vintage tones. Thenraw sound of this is gorgeous and they've not smoothed the rough edges too much which gives us some Microwave, Prophet VS, PPG digital sheen."

"Very Rare.

Serviced by Vintage Synth & Co in Paris.

Everything works perfectly.

The Pentaphonic is a five-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer released in 1982. It was designed by brothers Al and Bob Gleeman and featured three DCOs for a stable and juicy analog sound. The Pentaphonic was in the running against such classics as the Sequential Prophet-5, Moog Minimoog and Polymoog, and the Oberheim 4-Voice. But the Gleeman Pentaphonic (and the Pentaphonic Clear) are extremely rare! Only about 30 Pentaphonics and 20 Pentaphonic Clears were ever made."

"ARP - Model 2600 Synthesizer - Early 70s USA Synthesizer w/ 3620 Keyboard - x0962 - VINTAGE

The ARP 2600, introduced in the early 1970s, is a semi-modular analog synthesizer that became a cornerstone in the world of electronic music. Designed by Alan R. Pearlman and his team at ARP Instruments, this synthesizer was renowned for its versatility and rich sound. Unlike fully modular systems, the ARP 2600 came pre-wired, allowing musicians to play it straight out of the box while still offering the flexibility to reconfigure its signal path using patch cables. This made it accessible to both beginners and seasoned synthesists. Its robust build and portability also contributed to its popularity, making it a favorite for live performances and studio work alike.

One of the standout features of the ARP 2600 is its built-in spring reverb, which adds a distinctive depth and character to its sound. The synthesizer includes three voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), a voltage-controlled filter (VCF), and a voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA), providing a wide range of sonic possibilities. The ARP 2600’s ability to produce everything from deep basses to soaring leads and complex sound effects made it a go-to instrument for many iconic artists and sound designers. Its influence can be heard in numerous classic tracks and film scores, cementing its legacy as one of the most important synthesizers in music history."

"Excellent condition 1998 Yamaha DD-5 Digital Drums. Tested and working great.

Comes with original power wall wart adapter.

This set has Midi-Out, but not Midi-In. This means you can use this drumset to control other devices over midi, but you cannot send a pattern into the DD-5 to have it controlled by something else."

"A brilliant machine on which you can experiment basically endlessly. It is based on a chip that was mounted in Sound Blaster- sound cards from the early nineties.
Amazing possibilities for twisting the sound."

at Hus Aren

Hus Aren, also known as Arnheim Castle, formerly known as Arnhem, is located southeast of the Bückeburg district of Nordholz. Archaeological findings indicate that the fortifications were built in the 12th century. According to historical sources, the castle was inhabited by the Lords of Arnheim, a regional noble family. After they were displaced by the Counts of Schaumburg, the castle was demolished in 1302.

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #139: Hartmann Neuron VS - Song 3

video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the third recording with the Neuron VS. It's the software (VST) version of the Hartmann Neuron, a novel hardware synthesizer introduced in 2001 based on artificial neural networks used for sound synthesis. The software version of the instrument, was released in 2005.

I still have a Windows XP computer, which I use like a hardware synthesizer. Using the built-in M-Audio Audiophil 2496 sound card, I can control the "old" VST plug-ins via MIDI from my Cubase 13 and record them via the analog stereo audio output.

I used for the recording the following FX pedals:
Pigtronix Echolution² Deluxe, GFI System Specular Reverb², OTO Boum.
Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated. The FX from the Neuron VS are always deactivated.

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. On some tracks Compressor and EQ where added in Cubase 13. The final song was then mastered using iZotope Ozone."
