Belgian Magazine Article Featuring Mario Mathy
This one is in via Jos who had the following to say followed by an English translation of the article.
"Years ago, I sent you information about Mario Mathy (I think 2019). You published it on your blog. [you can find it in previous posts featuring Mario Mathy here] Afterward, Mario Mathy's 'Jumping Dance' went viral and achieved cult status.
Since your blog has become the most comprehensive and important documented synthesizer resource online, the attached article should also be saved for future history. It would be cool if you could share it with the rest of the synthesizer community. I translated it from Dutch to English using Google Translate.
Notice in the picture below the article that the photo was taken during the period when Mario endorsed Korg.
All I can see in the picture is Korg equipment. The song 'Love Dreams' is from his first album.
I expect most of the songs from his first album ‘Hello This is Mario Mathy’ were created using Korg synthesizers (in contrary to what you would expect from the album cover showing only casio).
After his first album, the single 'Jumping Dance' was released in Belgium. 'Jumping Dance' was from his second album, 'Music-Land'.
On his second album, you can hear a noticeable difference in his sound.
This likely resulted from switching from Korg to Casio synthesizers.
Mario was my piano teacher when I was about 15 years old."
You can check out Mario Mathy's releases on Discogs here.

CS-80 in Sen in E + SSB SUPERNOVA FX + SYSTEM FLOW Performance
video upload by Synthesizer Studio Berlin
"SUPERNOVA is a morphing FX processor for evolving soundscapes with a reverb at its heart.
Get it here for 29,99€:
https://www.synthesizerstudioberlin.c...
We took the Reverb Diffusion Network from our well received SYSTEM FLOW Drone Synth and brought it to the next level with a modulated feedback drive + Notch filter.
We also added a grain cloud, 6 LFOs and two Bit crushers. And a lot of presets
You can use it as a simple Grain Cloud/Reverb/Pitch Shifter/Bit-Crusher or make huge transitions by morphing between two presets.
The combination of all these FX modules and the possibility to randomize/morph all parameters gives you endless combinations for lush to freaky sounds.
Use the 'BIG' MORPH knob to make HUGE transitions.
Feedback Drive is gain compensated so you don’t blow your speakers but you can still go berserk on your sound.
For lots of modulation and evolving sounds:
Draw your own waveforms for 6 different LFOs and use them to:.
1. Automate your Sample Rate / Mix of the Bit-crushers
2. Automate Feedback Distortion
3. Automate the Notch Filter in the Feedback path.
Full REAKTOR 6.5 required.
You get:
2 Ensembles:
SSB SUPERNOVA FX.ens
SSB SUPERNOVA FX Soltau Edition.ens (less randomization/morphing) Manual
145 Presets"
Intellijel Rainmaker: The final batch
video upload by Intellijel
"This will be our final run of the Rainmaker, so here's a little reminder of what it can do. 🌧️
Rainmaker is a 16-tap Stereo Spectral Rhythm Delay & Comb Resonator. The Rhythm Delay allows individual control of any or all 16 taps—set timing, level, pan, filter type, cutoff and Q on each tap. The Comb Delay opens up further possibilities for complex comb filtering, along with resonator or reverb effects. Bring some light showers or something more torrential to your rack."

"SYNTH JAM" with Michael Whalen #05 (Prophet jam with seq in A)
video upload by Michael Whalen
"Alright, alright—I hear you loud and clear! You’ve been telling me to make more jam videos and show the Prophet some extra love, so here we are. This one was recorded with sub-zero temps outside and my “winter beard” in full effect. ❄️ I kicked it off with a fun arpeggiator part to set the mood, leaving plenty of space for a solo (because, of course, I couldn’t resist). Enjoy this funky little fusion track—and yes, the Prophet and I are still very much in a committed relationship. 🎹🔥"
"SYNTH JAM" with Michael Whalen #06 (Famous Synth Jam Yamaha GX-1 and Keith Emerson's Moog Modular)
video upload by Michael Whalen
""Here’s a little slice of my 2022 live streaming concert at EMEAPP, just outside Philly! My synth rig that night? A modest setup of only 13 vintage, historically iconic synthesizers, pianos, and organs. No big deal. This clip, though, highlights just two of the heavyweights: Keith Emerson’s colossal Moog Modular synth (dubbed 'The World’s Most Dangerous Synth,' because why not?)—the same beast he hauled around with Emerson, Lake & Palmer for 30+ years—and the massive Yamaha GX-1, which is basically an organ on steroids with a touch of Yamaha CS-80 DNA. If you’re ready for more sonic madness, the full concert is up on YouTube. Check it out and marvel at how I avoided toppling over under all that synth weight!"

Walrus Qi Etherealizer - exploration w/ hardware synths (SH-101, Prophet Rev2, 303, Nymphes, OP-XY)
video upload by Jay Hosking
"Trying out Walrus's new multi-effect with some hardware synthesizers.
Full disclosure: Walrus sent this pedal along for me to try for free. I'm a big fan of their Slöer pedal and also really like the Meraki (both of which I bought with my own money), so I was happy to give the Qi a spin. Happy to report that I am super impressed with this one. You can think of the Qi as kind of complementary to the Hologram Chroma Console: if the Chroma Console gives everything grit, colour, and texture, the Qi gives everything space, width, and ambience.
Here, I use it with a few synths I love and found myself lost for my entire Sunday exploring what the Qi could create with the right synthesizers. In fact, one of the improvisations (not in the final video here) has turned into a full song, which I'll put up as soon as I have time to record a performance. It's a really inspiring pedal and works very well with hardware synths.

Session w/ Rhodes MKII, Prophet-10, OP-1 field | Footprints 2025-01-22
video upload by atnr
"A jam session featuring the Rhodes MK2, Prophet-10, OP-1 field, bass, and drums.
It centers on the harmonies of the Rhodes, with synth melodies from the Prophet-10 and OP-1 field layered on top. The drum and bass parts were performed and recorded separately."
Creating and Transferring Wavetables - Novation Peak
video upload by Mad Robot
Anaheim, CA – January 22, 2025: Native Instruments is making it easier than ever for music producers to explore new sounds on their favorite controllers by launching its Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) Hardware Partner Program, announced today at NAMM 2025. Industry leaders Akai Professional, Novation, Nektar, Korg, and M-Audio are adopting the NKS ecosystem to power seamless integration with Native Instruments software. This connects music makers to over 2,000 NKS-compatible instruments and effects from more than 250 brands.
“This expansion highlights the impact of collaboration,” says Simon Cross, Chief Product Officer at Native Instruments. “It marks an important milestone in our mission to provide musicians with an open, connected platform, making professional-grade tools, instruments, and technology more accessible to creators everywhere.”
Native Kontrol Stand"Wavetables are a fantastic tool to expand your sonic horizons.
But sometimes the ones built in the Peak aren't enough.
And how cool would it be to 'bake' one of your favorite VST's patch down to a wavetable that you can then play around with inside the Peak ?
This video is based off knowledge shared by @StarskyCarr in a super well made tutorial [see here, and here]. I decided to make my own specifically for the Peak/Summit since the workflow is a bit tricky.
Although the video is 25 minutes long it takes only 4-5 minutes to transfer a new wavetable when you're used to it.
Here are the steps to reproduce :
1- Find a patch in any VST that you'd like to create a wavetable for.
2- Automate parameters over a few seconds of this patch playing using a midi clip and a linear envelope(s)
3- The note playing needs to be an F2 detuned by -23ct. This is how we're gonna get the right amount of samples (256) per cycle
4- Record the note and automation using an audio track listening to the VST's track output
5- Send the recorded audio to Audacity
6- Change Audacity's sample rate to 44100 and its time display units to "samples" (bottom left corner)
7- Copy / paste on a new track a small portion of the beginning, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and end of the recording.
8- Analyze how one shape might morph into the next, and use that knowledge to determine the starting position of the waveform selections.
Ideally the selection starts when the waveform crosses the 0dB line.
8.1- Manually enter "256" in the audacity selection box to have exactly the right amount of samples. Ctrl+c to copy, then delete the sample crop, and paste it back in the track to have only your 256 samples selection.
9- Do that for the 5 samples and make sure they're one after another without space in between. Delete the first track.
10- Select the 5 samples by clicking on the first one and manually typing "1280" in the selection length.
11- Go to File - Export - Export Selected Audio , and export as a .wav
12- In Novation Components, after selecting "Manage Peak", in the wavetable editor, create wavetable and then "import" - "Audio File" - select the wav you just created - Import as Wavetable
13- Save your wavetable and send it to a free slot. That's it !"
