"Superb example of the Neuron, one of the absolute pinnacles of Axel Hartmann's original sound engine concepts and design flair. There is really nothing anywhere near like this in the synth world. You could argue that it is really just a couple of 90s computers inside a box - but then you listen to the sounds that flow out of it, and use the pretty much unbeatable control surface, and you have to acknowledge it as a masterpiece. Many of these machines packed up over the years, but that was more often than not down to a hard drive failure. That has been solved on this machine by replacement with a modern SATA solid state drive. It's in beautiful cosmetic condition as well as full working order, and comes with its manual, a UK IEC lead, and actually the old hard disk in case that has uses in future. This is not the easiest synth to pack safely (overhanging keys and those potentially damaged little mushroom controllers) - but we will make an excellent custom carton: 30GBP."

The Yamaha VL1-m is a pressure and velocity sensitive 3U rack (2 voice) Virtual Acoustic modelling synthesizer, featuring up to 2 elements, 3 effects processors, MIDI, disk drive, and 128 presets. Each element features a modelled instrument and associated controllers/modifiers. Element controllers include pressure (with preset ADSR envelope), embouchure/pitch (with IHD envelope), vibrato, tonguing, amplitude (with AADSR envelope shared with filter), scream, breath noise, growl, throat formant, dynamic filter (high, low, or band pass or band reject), harmonic enhancer (FM), damping, and absorption. "Newly restored Roland CR-5000

Knobs have been cleaner though and the case has been cleaned and refinished to get rid of yellowing. The original switches have been replaced with linear & silent keyboard switches and 3D printed keycaps.

The new switches are awesome and will easily last 40 more years. The case is missing some screws but is sturdy. The case has a stain shown on the right side of the drum machine. Everything works on this drum machine and it’s ready for a new home. Thanks!"

Sonicware Ambient Ø Sample Manipulation Experiement - Speak Clearly....

"I had a an hour or so free time this afternoon to do something experimental, messing with the Ambient 0's Noise layer for the purposes of sample manipulation.

I found the tape deck shown, a Genexxa CTR-96, in a charity shop recently and bought it immediately as it had a tape inside. That's always in 'insta-buy' scenario for me and it paid off. On the tape is the phrase you hear, 'You should speak clearly to get the best recognition accuracy, full stop'. The lady repeats this 3 time on the 3 getting slower and sounding more frustrated. There seem to be children making noise in the background so my best guess is she was a teacher and was trying out some 90s speech to text which wasn't working well (it didn't back then), but I'm not sure. The rest of the tape is full of unintelligible voices of children in the presumed classroom. The tape deck has multiple playback speeds so I used High in order to be able to record the whole phrase in the sample time allowed on the Amb0, then pitched it back down afterwards.

So that's sampled into the Amb0 and then I use it's LFOs to mostly control pitch. In hindsight I should have also routed the level and cutoff, maybe in the future. It can do some interesting things with the stepped LFO shapes to pitch as they contain sections that stop moving so the speech is still recognisable. Also the reverse delay is very good for glitching things as you can hear at the end."
