The Generator - A Modular Live Performance

video upload by The 5th Volt

"I had prepared and practiced this performance to play live at a music festival nearby. Unfortunately the gig got cancelled due to bad weather, so I decided to perform it in my home office instead so that at least I would get a video out of it. I hope you like it."

"All sounds from the AE Modular from tangible waves and Synthstrom Deluge recorded using the Zoom H6 recorder and processed in Davinci Resolve."

"If you're interested how this all works, then watch my other video where I'm explaining everything about this setup:"

Modular Synth Live Performance - The Setup

video upload by The 5th Volt

"Here I'm explaining the complete setup which I prepared for a live performance which unfortunately got cancelled at the last minute. It was still a lot of fun to rise to the challenge of preparing a 40 minute live set, which I have never done before."

4 quick sound patches for Craig Barnes new synth

video upload by Craig Barnes

"Sound design is one of the hardest parts of building a synth. So as this design contains similar elements to the P5 with polymod, I just added some sounds from the patch book. They are not exact of course."

Analogue Solutions TC5000 Synthesizer: "Pulse Diver" Sequence No. 416

video upload by Analogue Solutions

"Here’s a new single sequence, "Pulse Diver" from the Analogue Solutions #TC5000 Patch Pin Matrix Synthesizer—recorded with no external instrumentation, FX, or processing. It demonstrates how you could build a track from a single analogue sequence, if desired.

An #arp2600 kick was used live and clocked from the TC5000. Every other sound in this video is TC5000 live."

"With the TC5000’s vast sonic range, no single video can fully showcase its capabilities. We’ll share more sequences to highlight different aspects of its sound design potential.

About the Patch:

The TC5000's pin matrix provides extensive routing options for highly intricate and dynamic patches. A single pin can introduce subtle nuances or completely transform the sound.

In fact, the complexity of just one patch could warrant an entire essay!

In this sequence:

You'll need speakers with bass 🔊

This is a faster tempo sequence with percussive elements. The envelopes are very tight, giving the synth a characteristic sound.

-The MIDI to CV Converter module 5088 was utilised for connectivity to a Keystep keyboard. The Note Loop Sequencer on this module was used for the basic pattern of the repeating bass sound.

-A simple sequence from the 5054 Sequencer modulates pitch for Oscillator 2 (VCO Module 5004) and is supplemented by waveforms from the other 2 Oscillator modules.

-Oscillator 3 features a separate sequence from the 5054. Both are manually faded in during the performance.

-Dual filters—the VCF-Multi (5047, SEM-style) and VCF-LP-CEM (5012, low-pass)—are actively modulated by the sequencer’s preset voltages.

-White noise is introduced via the Dual Noise / Random module 5032.

-Modulation variations are done in real-time via the vast pin matrix on the TC5000. One pin can dramatically alter a sequence.

-An ARP 2600 kick sound can be heard running alongside the TC5000. This was clocked via the TC's Convenience jack. The Convenience jack is not wired to the module's circuits. It is an independent jack input that allows you to take signals in or out of the matrix panel.

More sequences will follow, exploring different possibilities with the TC5000."

Introducing Behringer 2-XM - Oberheim SEM / TVS in Desktop Eurorack Format

video upload by Behringer

"It’s the synth that started it all and the legendary secret sauce of all the 70s’ greats – It’s the Behringer 2-XM!

2-XM is a classic polyphonic analog synthesizer with 4 VCOs, 2 multi-mode VCFs, 2 LFOs and 4 envelopes in a Eurorack format."

"Classic Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer with 4 VCOs, 2 Multi-Mode VCFs, 2 LFOs and 4 Envelopes in Eurorack Format

2-XM
It’s the polyphonic synth that started it all and one that’s sure to jumpstart your legendary synthesizer adventure! The Behringer 2-XM is a classic polyphonic analog synthesizer inspired by iconic '70s designs used by the greats such as Vince Clarke, Jan Hammer, and Vangelis.

Faithful Recreation and More
The original design consisted of two single-voice modules coupled together. With its 37-note keyboard, it was a considerable size but introduced a feature no other synth was capable of at the time: polyphony. The 2-XM combines all the features of the original with all the awesome stuff that we’ve all come to love in modern synths, such as MIDI and USB implementation, stereo, as well as a ton of CV and GATE ins and outs that’ll allow you to transform and shape sounds any way you want!

Double Everything!
The 2-XM comes with 4 VCOs, 4 envelope generators, 2 LFOs, and 2 multi-mode VCFs across two synthesizer expander modules. These two voices can be combined for some sweet two-voice polyphony, split, or have the 4 oscillators in unison for some truly intricate layering and rich, vintage analog tones!

Starting Your Sonic Sculpture
Each VCO can be shaped in many different and exciting ways with their adjustable frequency, modulation and pulse width controls. And when you want a spicy lead sound, the oscillators can be synced to add even more nuance to your waveforms.

Just the Right Frequency
Of course, the 2-XM doesn’t stop there. The VCFs provide another slew of adjustable settings! Aside from the Frequency, Modulation and Resonance controls, each VCF comes with an amazing multi-mode filter; turning the knob all the way to the left selects the low-pass filter, turning it the other way selects the high-pass filter and setting it at 12 o’clock selects the notch filter. You can even set the VCF to band-pass mode with the flip of a switch.

Quadruple Envelopment!
Along with all the controls at your fingertips the 2-XM also includes a total of four envelope generators to help further craft your sound and introduce subtle nuance or percussiveness with the included Attack, Decay and Sustain controls. In addition, the VCA switch allows you to toggle between envelope control or VCA which overrides ENV 1. You can even plug in an external VCA control to really dial it in.

2-Channel Mixer
Speaking of dialing it in, we’ve also included a 2-channel mixer section where you can control level and pan controls for each module. They even feature a portamento function for some cool pitch gliding effects. Extensive Modulation
With all the 2-XMs extensive controls, we just couldn’t help but add more, and we mean a lot more! Each module comes with a huge amount of CV and GATE Ins and Outs as well as extensive modulation capabilities from both internal and external sources. And because the 2-XM is so compact, you can easily integrate it into your existing setup, patching in your favorite modules to create some awesome waveforms! Eurorack Ready
Designed to handle the rigors of life on the road or in the studio, your 2-XM can easily be transferred into a standard Eurorack case for the perfect integration into your existing system."
