Beepboop Electronics Introduces the CTRL+ 4hp Touch Controller Module

video upload by Beepboop Electronics

"A short demo overview of the new CTRL+ 4hp touch controller module.

Includes pressure CV, Velocity CV and gate outputs!"

via Beepboop Electronics

"Control your eurorack system with just a touch. Generate control voltages and gates from the capacitive touch pads and route them to play your system.

Some things just can’t be sequenced……

The module has two touchpads, one to generate CV outputs and the other for gates. There are separate outputs for the pressure CV, velocity CV and Gate.

The pressure touchpad has been designed to be expressive. The pressure CV is proportional to how hard you press the panel, contact surface area and position.

The increasing separation of lines in the pressure touchpad result in an inverse relationship to its response so that depending upon where you touch you will get a sensitivity.

The top of the touchpad is more sensitive. The sensitivity decreases going down the panel.

Using just the tip of your finger the output CV can be controlled by slide it up and down the panel.

The RGB LED in the top left displays the level of each output.

Green = Pressure
Blue = Velocity
Red = Gate
The pressure CV output ranges from 0-6V

The module has been fitted with an offset null trimmer which can be adjusted when the module is mounted in your rack to set the Pressure CV back to exactly 0V.

The offset null can be adjusted through the panel with a small flat head screw driver.

Include power cable and mounting screws."

Brussels School Diaries, Day 4: "Needle Galaxy" | original electronic music jam

video upload by No Lake

"Trying to forge a movement, a style, and stay true to the original plan is not easy. The more I work on it, the better I understand it. The more I'm around it, the more I appreciate it. Next year's album is slowly taking shape, note by note. Emotion after emotion. Improvised jam after improvised jam.

Beginner's Guide to Sound Design, Feat. Sonicware Liven Evoke | LFOs, Filters, & Amp Envelopes

video upload by Sonic Cartography

"A tutorial on the basics of sound design, featuring the Sonicware Liven Evoke, focusing on LFOs, filters, and amplitude envelopes, and providing an overview of attack, release, cutoff, resonance, and LFO assignment, shape, rate, depth, trigger, and delay settings. This is part 3 of a series I'm doing on the Evoke (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list..., but it can be watched independently of the other parts and doesn't require that you have an Evoke to get something out of it, I think/hope.

This video is meant to be as beginner-friendly as possible, so at the beginning of sections, I go over basics that may "go without saying" for more experienced people. This is intentional. I remember back when I was just getting started with synths, all the videos I watched seemed to assume too much was "obvious" or already known, and I've consciously tried to avoid that here and make the sort of video I wish I had back then."

Introducing Stem Ripper - 8 Channel Audio Recorder

video upload by ALM TV

Check with dealers on the right for availability.

Chapters:
0:00 - Intro
0:52 - Setting up a Multitrack Recording
3:28 - Recording
5:09 - Transferring Stems to a Computer
7:07 - Mixing and Editing
7:38 - Final Mix
8:01 - Outro

"The 'Stem Ripper' is a compact 8 channel audio recorder designed for immediate full patch recording without the need for external hardware. Capture all audio stems of a patch with ease.

In this video we multitrack a basic patch using the Stem Ripper then copy the stems to a computer for basic mixing and editing in Logic Pro.

Patch stems are recorded directly to a micro SD card which can then be easily transferred to a computer to mix, edit or archive patches. Each input is recorded as an individual track in a 16bit 44.1kHz multichannel date stamped WAV file. Record time is limited only by SD Card size. Two additional tracks within the output WAV contain a configurable stereo mix down of the inputs. The module has large 20Vpp per input headroom with LED clip indication if exceeded.

An optional 2HP 'Thru' output expander duplicates the 8 inputs to a row of unbuffered outputs, eliminating the potential need for stacking patch cables at the expense of more case real estate.

A suitable 64Gb SD card is included with the unit."

SYNTH-WERK SW 8101 BODE BARBERPOLE PHASER

video upload by SYNTH-WERK

"The BODE BARBERPOLE PHASER offers 9 phase stages and various sound manipulation features. The option to insert an additional effect into the feedback loop or one of the two audio pathes is one of them.

The main feature of the BPP/product is infinity phasing. Infinity phasing is a psychoacoustic effect based on the Shepard scale, which was introduced in 1964 by the psychologist Roger N. Shepard. It creates the illusion of an infinitely ascending or descending scale that never exceeds the limit of one‘s hearing.

The combination of the various features like left-right panning or the transfer of a monofonic input signal into a stereo output signal and modulation of the phaser creates a sonic soundstage in the tradition of Harald Bodes ”Klangumformer” principal. If you think you know the sound of a Phaser, you need to listen to the Barberpole Phaser to understand the possibilities of a 'Klangumformer'"

Complexification of LXR-02 drums with Echolocator & the Zen

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Complexification is a perfectly cromulent word to describe 'A drum machine with two delays; since this is no mere everyday serial setup. Here we have two stereo delays in alternating parallel mode embiggening a single drum pattern. In fact 'chronocomplexification' would have been more accurate but I thought the Youtubes would punish me for being stupid.

The aim is to take a simple single pattern and create variations and interest while having fun. I think everyone knows the feeling of having a single pattern and trying to expand it into something greater. Depending on what machines you use it can start to feel like you're fighting to advance. Here it's all just knob twiddling fun.

In the video I describe the routing of the stereo outputs: One to the AB pedal which is then manually switched to either the Zen or Echolocator; and one channel direct to the DAW 'dry'. In this demo I didn't use any of this dry signal. If this were a "real" finished track I'd probably mix in some of the dry bass drum just to keep things coherant. For the video I thought it more useful to just have the two delays' sound. For a more nuanced routing setup you could change the left-right balance of various voices and use the 'dry' channel to instead go to a third pedal effect which could also be manually switched on and off. Putting a looper somewhere in the chain could also be interesting.

With all this I'm increasingly feeling that moving up to a higher tier in the drums or synth department is perhaps not as significant as investing time and attention to effects.

The video is all one take with no DAW processing - even though I was extremely tempted to EQ the Zen parts to bring out the crunch and distortion. The couple of cuts in the track are from me trying to find slice points to bring it down from 30 minutes. The samples are from a couple of 1950s sci-fi movies just for a little variation.

Bad Gear - Too Expensive to feel SO CHEAP

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. The analog tones of Roland’s SH-101 have been a staple in electronic music production since the 80s.

However, those who didn’t buy the dip in the 90s will have to make do with oversized fridge magnets, Uli’s homage to plastic, blasphemous plugins or - in this case - Donner’s brand-new L1 which has no reason to be that expensive while feeling so cheap.
