Here’s a barely-used Butterfly Benjolin from Macumbista’s new “RM” series of Benjolins: a pair of Rob Hordijk’s oft-copied Benjolin synthesizers in a distinctive cigar box enclosure, made under license and with several improvements by Macumbista Instruments and Frog Leg Synthesis. The most obvious enhancement is the ring modulator now standard in Macumbista’s Benjolin designs, which greatly expands the timbral possibilities. XOR-ing signals can be a nice substitute for RM in a pitch, but it’s great to have the real thing and really dial your sounds in. Patching two ring modulators in series opens up some wild sounds. Within its deceptively simple architecture, you’ll find ample opportunity for sound design, strange loops, and a fair bit of chaos. I’ve just never had the *grĂ¡* for R2R/digital shift registers/runglers that so many of my peers have. I gave it a chance, and now I’ll let it go to someone similarly curious, or to one of those obsessives out there. If you’re curious about these, there are loads of videos about the Benjolin on YouTube that will give you a sense of what it can do. There aren’t many videos of the “Butterfly Benjolin V4,” which has the ring modulator and additional enhancements, of which this is a lovely example. Here’s the manual for Macumbista’s new “RM” line of Benjolins: https://macumbista.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Benjo-cheat-sheet-1.2-mid.pdf The Butterfly is two of these in a single enclosure with shared power supply, common 0v, etc. Shipping from Berlin, Germany. It will ship with a 12v line-lump power supply in sturdy packaging."

New SEOK Eurorack Modules - DRIPS, AT, M22, & ROTARIES
SEOK - DRIPS – Voltage Controlled Analog Filter [DEMO no talk]
video upload by SEOK synthesizers
via SEOK Eurorack Modules
DRIPS
A warm and bubbly 12 dB/oct analog Eurorack filter with dual voltage control of frequency. Low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass outputs in one compact 8 hp module.
With external signals, the filter stays soft, clean, and precise. Adding resonance gives a liquid acid tone (like a good filter coffee). When driven into self-oscillation, it produces sine waves perfect for deep bass, kicks, and percussive sounds.
An integrated VCA placed after the filter lets you shape both tone and dynamics in a single path – precise when clean, saturated and raw when pushed.
Raise the offset to move seamlessly from rhythmic sequences to heavy drones.
Background:
We wanted to build a versatile Eurorack VCF/VCA with a balanced function-to-HP ratio. For us, ergonomics are as important as function – it should feel intuitive and spacious around the core controls.
And since we’re from Sweden, we couldn’t resist adding a little warmth.

"Programmable analog drum machine from East Germany, often tagged as the "east block TR-808". I think it deserves better than this comparision, since it's a very nice sounding drum machine on its own, with many features for the time (MIDI IN and OUT - sync and trigger, stereo output, optional trigger inputs and individual outputs etc)
Unit was serviced, calibrated and is in fully working order. It has the latest firmware which fix the MIDI timing issue earlier units had. If you don't know these units check the quick demo I made with this very unit. (led blinking is of course only due to video refresh rate, they don't blink in real) I serviced several of those units through the years. Cosmetic is in excellent condition with only very little wear and scuff."

Dimensional Patching - Exploring Sumu's Space Module
video upload by Madrona Labs
"Today we're breaking down the Space module—Sumu's advanced panner and mixer section. With 64 partials per voice and individual control over each one's placement in the stereo field, Sumu opens up some serious spatial possibilities. By patching any partial output to the x, y, or z axis, we transform our spectral data into a dimensional landscape we can navigate and manipulate. We'll also explore home and field patterns, and how modulating the field pattern's speed generates spatial movement directly from our partials.

Sequential Announces Free OS Update for Take 5 Synthesizer — Adds Poly Chain and More

OS Update introduces 10-voice Poly Chain, new arpeggiator patterns, Whiplash arp timing mode, and violet noise.
San Francisco, CA — November 6, 2025— Sequential today announced a major OS update for its popular Take 5 polyphonic synthesizer, delivering powerful new features that expand its creative capabilities. This update is free for all Take 5 owners and is available now from the Sequential website.
The centerpiece of the update is Poly Chain, which allows two Take 5s to be linked for a fully integrated 10-voice instrument. This means players can perform bigger chords and more complex arrangements without worrying about voice stealing. All front-panel controls are mirrored from one unit to the other for seamless sound tweaking, as if they were a single, expanded synth.
The arpeggiator gets a serious creative boost with 10 new play modes designed to inspire fresh rhythmic and melodic ideas. Modes like Spiral and Leapfrog introduce surprising new musical elements, creating parts that feel alive. These patterns go beyond simple up-and- down motion, using virtual “playheads” to weave intricate note paths, adding new flavor to your compositions.
Another standout feature is Whiplash, a new timing mode that keeps each arpeggiator cycle the same length regardless of how many notes you hold. The result? Notes bunch together or spread apart dynamically, producing rhythmic tension and release that stays in-step with the overall bar-length of your composition.
Finally, the update also adds violet noise, which emphasizes high frequencies while reducing low-end content. This opens up new possibilities for sound design, from smooth and shimmering textures to airy percussive layers.
"Musicians love the sound of Take 5, and we get asked regularly for ways to expand the polyphony," said David Gibbons, CEO of Sequential.
"This new software makes it possible to use it as a massive 10-voice synth — while also adding some fun and creative new capabilities."
The Sequential Take 5 combines classic Prophet-5 tone with a compact, portable design and an intuitive layout that feels great to play. With five voices of polyphony (and now ten with a desktop module companion), authentic analog oscillators, the iconic Prophet-5 filter, and deep modulation options, it’s the perfect gateway to Sequential’s legendary sound.

Oberheim Releases Free OS Update for TEO-5 Synthesizer — Adds Poly Chain and More

OS Update introduces 10-voice Poly Chain, new arpeggiator patterns, Whiplash arp timing mode, and violet noise.
San Francisco, CA — November 6, 2025— Oberheim today announced a free OS update for its acclaimed TEO-5 synthesizer, adding powerful new features that make the instrument even more versatile and inspiring. The update is now available for download from Oberheim's website.
The highlight of the update is Poly Chain, enabling two TEO-5 units to be linked for a fully synchronized 10-voice Oberheim experience. This allows for complex chords and lush textures without compromise, and all panel controls are mirrored across both units for consistent sound and performance.
Additionally, the arpeggiator now includes 10 new play modes that go far beyond traditional patterns. Modes like Spiral and Leapfrog introduce new rhythm and melody, creating parts that twist, turn, and evolve in ways that spark creativity.
Also new is Whiplash, a timing mode that keeps each arpeggiator cycle the same length no matter how many keys you hold. This means the note values shift dynamically, producing rhythmic tension and release that stays in-step with the overall bar-length of your composition.
To round out the update, violet noise joins the sonic palette. With its emphasis on high frequencies and reduced low-end content, violet noise is ideal for creating smooth shimmering textures, airy effects, and unique percussive elements.
"TEO-5 was designed to bring the classic Oberheim sound to more players," said Tom Oberheim. "This update pushes that vision further — adding features that make it even more useful and inspiring."
TEO-5 combines authentic Oberheim tone with modern creative tools. With true analog oscillators, the legendary SEM filter, linear through-zero FM, and a deep modulation matrix, TEO-5 offers a vast sonic palette in a compact, performance-ready design. Take the next step with TEO-5 and download the Poly Chain OS Update today.
The TEO-5 OS update is now available for free download at https://oberheim.com/products/teo-5-poly-chain-os-update/
Olivella Modular Furia | Discrete transistor filter & VCA
video upload by Tom Churchill
"Olivella Modular's Furia is a 4-pole transistor ladder filter, based on the E-mu Modular 2100 LPF designed by Dave Rossum in the 1970s, paired with a discrete transistor VCA with tons of gain. There are no ICs anywhere in the audio path, so it has an authentically vintage sound, and it distorts in a really musical way. In this video, I give an overview of Furia’s signal path and controls and build a few patches to demonstrate how it sounds.
Chapters:
00:00 Intro & patch previews
01:42 Furia overview
07:41 Pinging the input
09:41 Overdriven acid
13:54 Furia as a low-pass gate
16:39 Dirty drum machine preamp
22:00 Audio-rate cutoff modulation"
"FURIA is a discrete 4-pole ladder filter and a transistor VCA with a variable response CV curve control. It isn't 'just' a filter, but an all-around vintage-sounding sculpting and performing tool.
The filter section is based on the venerable E-mu Modular 2100 LPF, but unlike it, there're no ICs in the audio path - even the output stage op-amps are transistor based, both in the VCF and VCA sections.
As its name suggests, FURIA has plenty of gain on tap: the INPUT LEVEL knob starts distorting around 9 o'clock and interacts with the resonance in interesting ways, while the VCA and its X10 input switch can transform the filtered sound into nasty acid basslines - no external distortion required.
You can use the filter and VCA independently or in series, with an AMP CV input that's normalled to the FREQ CV input to facilitate a LPG-like configuration.
The AMP IN allows you to mix a signal into the VCA after the filter - for example, a higher register FM'd or wavefolded sine wave with a bassier filtered sawtooth from the LPF stage.
Unlike most ladder filters, FURIA's LPF is fully DC-coupled, though internal offsets may produce slight clicks at the VCA stage.
To remedy that, the DIP switch on the back lets you selectively AC-couple the VCF and VCA inputs and outputs, reducing clicks and offsets for audio purposes. It also allows you to change the VCF -> VCA normalling for series, parallel or independent use."
Hello Drummertime - Tubbutec
video upload by Stazma and Tubbutec
"This was the very first patch I did when I got the Drummertime in the studio (30 minutes ago hahaha). I just played around and that's the result. Bass triggered by the accent, drums from the amazing 6mod6 also by @tubbutec and @lpzwmodules
You can connect these two with special cable on the back so you don't have to use patch chords but well I was in a hurry and wanted to jam ;-)
More infos about the Drummertime & Tubbutec here: https://tubbutec.de/drummertime/
Have fun!!!!"
"Tubbutec Drummertime is a TR-x0x-inspired step sequencer for drums.
It is available in different Eurorack form factors, features large, tactile buttons, and has many powerful features.
Drummertime is optimized for live performance and allows quick programming and editing of drum patterns.
Big sibling of 6equencer."
