What began with tape loops and musique concrète evolved through machines like the Fairlight CMI, SP-1200, Akai S950, MPC and ASR-10: each introducing new limitations, new workflows and, eventually, entirely new musical languages.

From hip-hop and jungle to French house, microhouse and experimental electronics, producers learned to treat recorded sound not as something fixed, but as raw material.

This video traces how the sampler became an instrument and how chopping, pitching, looping, resampling and microsampling reshaped electronic music."
