New Order – Blue Monday | Vintage Synthesizer Cover | Moog Source & Emulator II | 80s Synthpop

video upload by RetroSound

"Real Vintage Synthesizer cover of “Blue Monday” by New Order, recreating the iconic sound and atmosphere of this fantastic electronic dance track. Released in 1983, “Blue Monday” became one of the most influential electronic 80s Synthpop tracks of its era. This cover pays tribute to its unmistakable sound using vintage synthesizer and sampling technology inspired by the original production.

For this cover, I used my vintage synthesizers and classic hardware to capture the spirit of the original recording, focusing on the distinctive sounds and textures that made this track timeless.

🎹 Vintage Gear & Sound Design:
Moog Source – Bass sounds and the additional synthesizer parts
E-mu Emulator II – Synth Strings, DMX Drums, Guitar parts and other fx sounds

The goal was to stay true to the original character of Blue Monday, using authentic vintage instruments and sampling technology to bring its unmistakable 80s sound back to life.

If you're into New Order, classic synthpop, vintage synthesizers, analog bass sounds, the Emulator II, and the electronic music production of the 1980s, this cover is for you.

🎧 Listen, enjoy, and let the vintage synth sounds take you back to the golden age of electronic music.

Partials & Discrepancies 1.5.0 – 30+ Dry Presets | Additive Synth Update, No Talking

video upload by Unusable Engineering

"Partials & Discrepancies has just gotten an update, a new look and 42 new presets.

In this video I play through around 30 of the new Partials & Discrepancies 1.5.0 factory presets, played completely dry. No talking.

The on-screen text goes through the main additions in v1.5.0 while I play.

Partials & Discrepancies is an 8-voice additive synth built around up to 128 partials per voice, oscillator slots, voice discrepancies and a lot of movement between states.

Version 1.5.0 adds:
• Oscillator Detune
• Oscillator Smear, based on a tuned delay line
• Ring Modulator mode
• New self-oscillating filter
• Host-synced Mod Osc
• Key-reset and key-tracked noise for the Mod Osc
• Portamento and polyphonic legato
• Improved voice stealing
• New interface colors and layout
• 42 new factory presets

The video goes through around 30 of the new presets without external effects, so everything you hear comes directly from the synth - it was recorded straight from the iMac's output onto a Zoom H6 recorder.

- New CHORD algorithm
Accsess it via the Voice 3, Algo 3, Mode 3! It replaces one of the Karplus modes. PARAM1 morphs throuigh the waveforms, PARAM 2 sets the chord.

Three new generative sequencers

video upload by John Schussler

"I have had the Gamut Repetitor from Noise Engineering for a while, and then recently got the Random 8 and the Shooting Stars modules. Since all three are farming similar ground, if that's a saying, I figured I'd do a quick comparison.

Nothing exhaustive, just a feel for how each sounds with a quick plug in and fiddle.

There are two VCOs attached because the Shooting Stars only has two outputs. The Gamut and Random 8 have more, but it seemed to make more sense to just stick with 2 for all of them. The gate pattern is coming from a Numeric Repetitor, and is the same for all 3 so it's easier to hear the melodic differences.

VCOs are Plaits and PonyVCO. Envelope is Zadar.

Pine DSP releases Blox Rack (VST/AU/AAX)

video upload by Pine DSP

Press release follows:

"Pine DSP have announced the availability of Blox Rack, a modular effects rack plugin in the "500-series" mould, that adds a horizontal panel for EQ, modulation and other fine details.

Blox Rack's six effects – EQ, Comp, Chorus, Reverb, Delay, Exciter – are also available individually as separate plugins to load and run in a DAW for license holders of Blox Rack.

Mixing with a rack of plugins is a mostly great workflow, but when it comes to EQ, the vertical format can't offer you a speedy way to edit bands precisely or a view of the frequency spectrum running through it. That's why we added a pop-out horizontal panel to the top of Blox Rack – it acts as a context-sensitive view, helping you stay in the moment for EQ, modulation and precision ducking.
