Prismatic Spray II - exploring the stereo engines

video upload by Arman Bohn

"You can find my devices here:
https://distropolisgoods.com/

Prismatic Spray II should be released VERY soon.

In this video, I take a look at the stereo bytebeat engines of the Prismatic Spray II and some features such as the filter and various visualizations.

I'm using a little mini PC to view the visualizations via Web Serial from the Prismatic Spray II via USB. There is NO video output from the synth - it is sending serial data that a compatible browser is interpreting and displaying.

I'm also using an OMX-27 MIDI keyboard from ‪@nevetsokyeron‬ to show that the synth can be played chromatically from an external MIDI keyboard."

Oberheim DS-2a Sequencer - Quick Demo

video upload by Eric Frampton

"Just got this DS-2a up and running so I thought I'd hook it up to the OB-X and see how it works.

Important note about the operation of the DS-2a: it cannot quantize so, as you'll see, building a repeating sequence can be a bit of a hit-or-miss proposition.

Magicós - double-necked synth guitar

video upload by Love Hultén

"In LH Labs, demonstrating Magicós 2 - A triangular oddity born from deranged imagination and psychedelic fandom. Somewhere inside, the voice of Alexis Mardas. Mellotron leads and divine drones, a double-necked wonder indeed. A nothing box plugged into the crystalline emitter, chakras align. In the detachable base, reverse delay/ethereal glow combined with fuzz that filter signals into a carpet of sonic moss.

Neck 1: Tangerine (1010music)
Neck 2: Lemondrop (1010music)
Detachable base: Lore (walrus audio effects) and TARs (collision devices)"

Magicós - The Wanderer

video upload by Love Hultén

"In a sweeter universe, a sweeter apple grew and dominated mind-expanding technology. Far from the obsidian slabs, a sacred geometry spawns out of the ruined columns of Athens. Magicós appears to the wanderer, ready to transmit and teleport them to fields beyond the realms we know…"

A.I. Experiments: The Infinite Drum Machine

video upload by Google for Developers

"Check out https://g.co/aiexperiments to learn more.

Sounds are complex and vary widely. This experiment uses machine learning to organize thousands of everyday sounds. The computer wasn’t given any descriptions or tags – only the audio. Using a technique called t-SNE, the computer placed similar sounds closer together. You can use the map to explore neighborhoods of similar sounds and even make beats using the drum sequencer. http://g.co/aiexperiments

Built by Kyle McDonald, Manny Tan, Yotam Mann, and friends at Google Creative Lab. Thanks to the London Philharmonia for contributing some sounds to this project. t-SNE animation featured in video by Gene Kogan.

Fender Rhodes through nanobox | lemondrop

video upload by Benjamin Dehli

"Signal-processing chain built around a Fender Rhodes piano and a 1010music nanobox | lemondrop.

The Rhodes piano's pickup output is blended with a contact microphone attached inside the instrument to capture mechanical key noise. The combined signal is routed into the lemondrop and used as a live input granular oscillator source. Granular parameters are adjusted in real time to reshape the incoming audio.

Both the processed signal from the lemondrop and the direct Rhodes signal are then sent through the stereo BBD delay on a Moog Matriarch. I also added some reverb from a Chase Bliss Audio & Meris CXM 1978 to create a bit more space and depth.

Instruments:
1010music nanobox | lemondrop
Rhodes Mark I Stage Piano

Effects:
Alex Franklinos Stereo Transformer Saturator
Avion Studios RetroFlyer Preamp
Chase Bliss Audio & Meris CXM 1978
DIY Recording Equipment G Bus VCA Compressor
Hairball Audio FET/RACK Revision D
Handsome Audio Zulu
Moog Matriarch (Stereo BBD Delay)
