RIP Donna Summer

Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby(1975)

YouTube Uploaded by glauciomunduruca on Sep 10, 2006

Donna Summer passed a way today at the age of 63.

"In 1975, Summer approached Moroder with an idea for a song she and Bellotte were working on for another singer. She had come up with the lyric 'love to love you, baby'. Moroder was interested in developing the new sound that was becoming popular and used Summer's lyric to develop the song. Moroder persuaded Summer to record what was to be a demo track for another performer. She later said that she had thought of how the song might sound if Marilyn Monroe had sung it and began cooing the lyrics. To get into the mood of recording the song, she requested Moroder turn off the lights while they sat on a sofa with him inducing her moans and groans. After hearing playback of the song, Moroder felt Summer's version should actually be released. Although some radio stations refused to play it due to its suggestive style, "Love to Love You" found chart success in several European countries, and made the Top 5 in the United Kingdom... In 1977, Summer released the concept album I Remember Yesterday. This album included her second top ten single, 'I Feel Love', which reached number six in the US and number one in the UK."

All sounds analogue, no effects other than the Juno Chorus effects. Cakewalk Music Creator 6 used for midi and recording. No harm intended"

Korg Wavestation A/D and SR with Analog Resonant Filter Patch For Sale

YouTube via 123synthland — June 18, 2010 — "Wavestation owners have often complained about the lack of a resonant filter in this synths voice architecture, but the effects section has a filter distortion effect with resonance that can be modulated by MIDI controller data. Not everyone knows how to do set this up, so we created a special patch for people who buy our Wavestations that makes good use of this feature and demonstrates the Wavestations ability to sound more like an analog synth. This patch is a useful starting point for creating your own patches with a similar filter effect. The patch on this particular A/D is located in RAM bank C, patch 49, and is entitled "hoover by TTI". The name Hoover refers to the classic analog synth sound used in many early 90s techno tracks, originally made on a Roland Alpha Juno synth. TTI, well, that's the abbreviation of our company name. :) This patch uses 2 filter effects. The modulation wheel is set up to sweep the cutoff frequency of the first filter and the aftertouch sweeps the cutoff of the 2nd filter. We programmed another variation of this patch (entitled "WavSeq by TTI") in RAM bank C, patch 48, that uses internal wavesequences along with a single filter effect controlled by the modulation wheel.

We are selling this particular Wavestation AD as well as an SR right now. - if anyone's interested, please email us at minime123 at onebox dot com."

Night fall. By TSF, MsM6

YouTube via TheSynthFreq via Mini of http://www.tonetweakers.com aka 123Synthland on Ebay
"This is a new 80s composition from TSF and MsM6. My sister is joining me in my part of the studio as she is using my Casio CZ-5000 to control the Motif 6. The Motif 6 has a faulty pitch bend so, the CZ-5000 is a controller for that issue. I am playing the bass line on the Alpha Juno-1, and the chords on the Roland D-50. My sister is playing the lead. This song is a lot of fun and we are just improving it as we go. Long live the 80s synth sound!"

"Sines of life" (better audio)

"Hi!This is video 2 of "Sines of life". It was re-recorded for better audio quality in the bass sound. This song was written by Danielle.
Synths used: Roland D-50 (strings) Roland JV-880 (Jupiter strings) Motif 6- (electric bass) Korg EMX-1 (original beat sequence) Alpha Juno-1 (lead E-guitar)"

Korg KPR-77 How To Initialize and Record a Pattern

YouTube via 123synthland. 123synthland on Ebay
"As professional vintage synth dealers, we buy and sell KPR-77 drum machines from time to time. It's a fun little machine. The pattern write procedure isn't immediately obvious to those who are unfamiliar, so we thought it would be nice to post a video showing how to initialize and write a pattern.
Chris Wareham's posted more complete instructions for pattern and song writing here: http://www.chriswareham.demon.co.uk/k... Enjoy! Mini. http://www.tonetweakers.com"

Annoy Your Neighbors or Drive Your Dog Nuts* with a Serge Modular Synthesizer

YouTube via 123synthland. 123synthland on Ebay
"We just prepared this 4 panel Serge modular synthesizer for a customer and figured it would be a good idea to take a video to show that it works, so we quickly threw together this horrible patch using many of the modules in this system. The end result is a whole bunch of noise, but some people like noise. if you're one of those people, well, this one's for you! Note: Serge synths can make non-annoying sounds too. *results may vary.

Wham Last Christmas Video feat. Yamaha SHS10 Keytar for keyboardists with guitar-envy

YouTube via 123synthland

"That's right, after many years of being vintage synth dealers, we're trying to break into the music video business. Considering the high quality of this video, it may shock you to learn that this was our very first attempt at making a serious music video! We would like to personally thank George and Andrew for their patience. But seriously, this video was really meant to show you the beautiful Yamaha SHS10 Keytar we're about to offer up for sale. For some reason, hardly a day goes by when we don't get an email from someone looking for a keytar. We find this quite annoying considering, although we sell 'tars once in a while, we really specialize in vintage analog synths like Moogs and ARPs and don't usually cater to keyboardists who wish they were guitarists. (No offense) But back to the video! This SHS-10 is unlike most keytars in that it's got built in sounds. A couple of them are actually pretty good. And the analog drum patterns are really cool too! But you might not know it from listening to this clip of the onboard demo tune, a cover of Wham's "Last Christmas". If you don't like the internal sounds, there's a MIDI out so you can control external synths with it as well. We hope you enjoyed getting your Wham on like we did. Email us anytime at minime123@onebox.com"
