Moog Sound Studio Generative Patches: DFAM + Subharmonicon

video upload by Anton Anru

"Welcome to the soundset for the semi-modular system, Moog Sound Studio: DFAM + Subharmonicon. DS Generative is a collection of 25 patches. This genre of sound design is very popular inside modular culture, and Moog Sound Studio suggests a good set of features to enter this club.
The bank covers a wide range of tones: warm, deep, bright, metallic, soft, expressive, dreamy, dark, evolving, detuned, inharmonic, noisy, distorted and others.

🧊 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/moog...

Controlled chaos and randomness, probability, non-repetitiveness, tempo break, pattern uniqueness, short and long sounds alternation, unexpected changes, silence and density, harmonic and fx-like tones, freaky splashes during a sequence - all these things are included in the soundset.

Generative timbre may be a good addition to (or a lead part of) ambient or techno tracks, jams and performances. You may also record fragments into your DAW or sampler, slice it to one-shots or make loops - you’ll get a unique material for further processing.
The main point of the soundset is the high level of interconnection. In this patchbook, the timbres of the synths are soldered and can’t exist separately:
🔸 they modulate each other with Envelopes
🔸 a sequence from one synth may change parameters on the other one
🔸 triggers interaction, clock/rhythm, run/stop modulations break predictable patterns
🔸 audio signals from VCOs may be used as modulation sources to create harmonies/intervals or crazy experimental inharmonic tones.

The soundset is presented in PDF format. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn a lot about the synths and discover their true depth.

To recreate these patches, you need up to 13 patch cords.

There are audio examples of all patches inside the folder with the soundset. Audio examples for a patch are presented in three variants: DFAM only, Subharmonicon only, and both together.

Moog Sound Studio: DFAM + Subharmonicon. 50 Combo Patches. + Samples. Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"Welcome to the soundset for a semi-modular system, Moog Sound Studio: DFAM + Subharmonicon.
It is a collection of 50 patches that include basses, drums/percussion, leads, plucks, stabs/chords, generative-style patterns. There is a wide range of sound colors inside the pack: massive and gentle, aggressive and soft, bright and dull, harmonic and dissonant tones, straight and polymetric rhythms.

🔮 Get the soundset: https://bit.ly/3x756yg

Highlights:
✅ high level of interconnection of the synths
✅ thoroughly set parameters
✅ detailed notes for patches full of tips and tricks
✅ audio examples in 3 versions: DFAM only, Subharmonicon only, both together
✅ to recreate these patches you need up to 12 patch cords
✅ one of my hardest work ever, I spent up to 2 hours for each patch
✅ FREE BONUS: 150 samples with Scale and BPM (75-126 BPM), Wav 24/44100

The main point of the soundset is the high level of interconnection, not just syncing the two synths with independent timbres (individual patches for DFAM and Subharmonicon are also available on my website). In this patchbook the timbres of the synths are soldered and can’t exist separately:
🔸 they modulate each other with Envelopes
🔸 a sequence from one synth may change parameters on the other one
🔸 triggers interaction, clock/rhythm, run/stop modulations break predictable patterns
🔸 audio signals from VCOs may be used as modulation sources to create harmonies/intervals or 🔸 crazy experimental inharmonic tones

At the same time, they play different and clear roles, it’s not a sound mess, but two synths working in close cooperation.

💽 Also, there’s a separate folder with WAV samples with the same timbres, with Scale and BPM information. You may use them inside a sampler or DAW if you want 100% same sound as in the examples. Slice them for one-shots or loops, this is a great material for further editing and processing.

The soundset is presented in the form of PDF-Document. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters worth tweaking during the playback, how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn lots of things about the synth and discover its true depth.

Each patch has audio examples, they help to understand how a patch is supposed to sound. Audio examples for a patch are presented in three variants: DFAM only, Subharmonicon only, and both together.

Christmas Lights 🎄 in Madrid

video upload by Oblivion Corner

Music and video by supporting member, Oblivion Corner.

"Took the Navibus to see the city's Christmas Lights in Madrid. Filmed the various holiday lights and Madrid city streets such as Gran Via and Cibeles. Celebrate the bright colors and city architecture on display. Wishing you all joyful Season's Greetings.
#christmaslights #madrid #fujixt4

This Fuji video test was shot from the top floor of the Navibus, using the Fuji XT4 camera paired with a Fujinon XF 23mm f2 lens. The video format settings for the original footage were Eterna film simulation, 4K 50p with a bitrate of 200 Mbps in Long GOP compression.

The video from the Fujifilm X-T4 was then edited and color graded in Final Cut Pro where certain clips were also additionally stabilized in software. This was in addition to IBIS on the Fuji camera which was set to active (but without boost or camera DIS).

Electrograve Beat Happening Analog Pad Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by KAZUNOBU KOIKE

via this auction

"In the 1980s, when techno-pop was at its peak, analog drum synth gadgets that were made by manufacturers of various sizes but are now endangered. Beat Happening is the royal road to the modern age when analog drum synth sounds are oblivion or beyond.

By applying vibration to the black rectangular pad on the top of the main unit, pleasant (?) Sounds such as "Pyo-n", "Pasha-n", and "Kinkin", which are unique to analog drum synths, pop out. By adding a built-in pitch-swinging modulation to it, a retro game-like cheapness is reproduced.

On the surface of the main body, there are "Ptich (slider)" that determines the pitch, "Sens" and "Decay" that control the effect of the envelope, "Sweep" that controls the rise and fall of the pitch, and its ON / OFF switch and modulation effect. "Depth" and "Rate" that control the depth and speed of the cycle, the master volume on the right side, the "HOLD" switch that keeps outputting the synth sound regardless of the vibration to the pad, and the lower side of the main unit Is equipped with an “EXT.INPUT” jack that triggers the input signal. Since you can input an audio signal to this EXT.INPUT and control the sound of the main unit by that input, connect an external drum pad, a sound source such as a click or kick drum, and even a guitar, and every time you pick the guitar, " You can also enjoy the act of making a sound like "Pyon". It is a tool that allows you to easily enjoy cheap and kitsch analog drum synth sounds, which are rarely heard nowadays, but with a full-fledged operation feeling."

Thee Olde Tale of Moog Grandmother and thee Legend

video upload by Oblivion Corner

"Moog Grandmother analog synth and Synapse Audio The Legend VST are both played live in this loose dungeon synth jam. See how the much feted hardware analog synth plays along with a software emulation of the quintessential Minimoog.

Warm and relaxing synthesizer tones emanate from this live jam which has been edited from conciseness. Enjoy the blissful melodies accompanied by sundry picture in picture scenes from the Bayeux tapestry appearing to the right of the synthesizers.

You can see the Moog Grandmother lightly patched to expand its semi modular subtractive synth grandeur and allow for a richer palate of sounds. Meanwhile, the medieval figures echo the musical bewilderment and gently dissociative effect that synthesizer music can have on the listener.

The distinguished yet hesitant musical motifs counterpoint the genteel sonic timbre of the two synthesizer instruments.

A Failure of Imagination (i) // Shot on Fuji XT4

video upload by Oblivion Corner

"Music by Cybersyn. Used with permission by Oblivion Corner.
Full Album available now: https://synthandsundry.bandcamp.com/a...
For inchoate ramblings, read on ...

A cold concrete bench on a seasonably warm day is a slice of heaven. Add to that a location in a quiet corner and we are proverbially off to the races. This video features a track that was set to be included in a concept album about Cybersyn, a forward-thinking 70s antecedent to the internet and ‘big data’, being fictionally smuggled out of Chile just as the democratically-elected government collapsed due to the autocratic onslaught by brutal forces backed by the CIA and US corporations, named and unnamed, since those events. Thinking of what could have been is always a wistful exercise when it comes to technology.

This music imagines a form of progressive technocracy as the backbone of the technological developments that occurred in France throughout the 70s and 80s: high speed rail, space launch systems, interactive information systems accessible to all and a home computing revolution. The fictional machination of the album linked above imagines that all this national progress was enabled by the visionary capabilities of Cybersyn. Once more, it’s worth emphasizing that this is fiction. France did develop Ariane rockets, Minitel information terminals and the TGV high speed rail network but this was primarily thanks to the decisive actions of the government of the time which pushed these projects forward.

However, the idea of Cybersyn and the future it potentially augured has both a more sinister and melancholic side too. This is also represented in the music and visuals of this video. The influences here are two-fold, cinematic and literary. First of all, there’s la Nuit des Traquées (Night of the Hunted) the under-appreciated B-movie by Jean Rollin, starring the incomparable Brigitte Lahaie. The premise is that a nuclear accident has caused the emission of dangerous fast moving particles that have affected people in the surrounding area, causing amnesia and a loss of cognitive ability. A shadowy organisation has detained and subsequently relocates those affected to an ominous corporate skyscraper as the victims devolve into haunted animalistic shadows of themselves. Secondly, Les Forteresses Noires a novel by Patrick Grainville about a banker, a nightshift doctor, a sculptress and teenagers worshipping an odd assemblage of sewage rats. The common element here is that both the film and the novel are set in La Défense business district in Paris.

The location captured in this video is very much reminiscent of the architecture and solitary concrete corners of La Défense business district. The ominous nature of corporate architecture as well as the promise and paranoia of technology are the notions being conveyed here. However another idea that lies at the foundation of this music and album it was going to part of is “what could have been”. Namely, how would technology have evolved if at every fork the market forces of shortsighted thinking, cost-cutting and convenience had not been heeded. For example, what if Betamax had become the dominant video format of the 80s? What if France had pursued its homegrown CYCLADES network protocol instead of the X.25 based TRANSPAC standard? What if PC compatibles had never become as ubiquitous? What would the technological landscape look like now? This track and all the others featured in the album above (they will get their own videos in due course) aim to give a feeling of what that would have been like interspersed with the aforementioned intrigues and ideas.

This video was filmed with the Fujifilm XT4 camera using the Fujinon XF 23mm f2 lens.

OP-1 Deep Dive #3 | DIGITAL is BETTER?

video upload by Oblivion Corner

"Discover the Digital synth engine on the Teenage Engineering OP-1. This mystifying OP1 synthesizer has complex interactions between its four sound parameters: wavefolder, octave, ring modulator / detune and something called 'digitalness'. This video gives you an overview of each parameter in turn and proposes a way to demystify how to tweak your sounds on this OP-1 synth engine and get more out of it. Before finishing off, there's also time to highlight one of my fave sound presets on Digital.

OP-1 Deep Dive #2 | Pulse synth engine

video upload by Oblivion Corner

"The Pulse synth on the Teenage Engineering OP-1 synthesizer is described as being a "dual pulsetrain oscillator". This OP1 synth engine works primarily by allowing you to change the distance between the two pulses that form the oscillator. Additionally, a one knob filter, amplitude and modulation control round out the sound shaping options available on this OP-1 synth engine.

OP-1 New Firmware 243: USB Audio, Finally! 😊

video upload by Oblivion Corner

"A new significant firmware update has landed for the Teenage Engineering OP-1. This quick video shows how to update your OP-1 with the latest firmware.
#teenageengineering #op1 #firmware
A decade in the waiting, the OP1 finally gets USB Audio. I've tested it and see that you can send or receive two channels of audio to or from the OP-1. All you need is the firmware update installed and then your computer, tablet or phone should be able to "see" the OP-1 as an audio source or destination. Very exciting indeed!
