"Up for sale is a vintage Moog Polymoog model 280a with the Polypedal Controller model 285a, legs with crossbars, hardcase and owner's manual. The synth is just been fully serviced and ready for the future. The service report is part of the sale. It sounds absolutely amazing!

Cosmetically it is in used, but fair condition for its age (1978). There are a few scratches, the plastic case is missing a small chip at the left rear corner, there's some wear and tear on the knobs and keys. The originally hardcase is in very used cosmetical condition, but the foam is in good condition and it gives the synth the right protection if you want to transport it. The Polypedal Controller has some minor rusty spots on the two front pedals, some scratches and little wear and tear. The legs have little signs of use and little rusty spots. The manual is in good condition and written in English. Please check all the photos for a good overall impression."

Tweaking Sounds on a Korg MS20 While Sequenced [Demo #5]

Published on Aug 13, 2019 gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2019

Tweaking sounds on an Korg MS-20 while getting sequenced by Beatstep Pro. I'm using a little circuit that converts the eurorack standard to pitch CV and gate triggers the MS-20 can understand."

Industrial Music Electronics aka The Harvestman makes a eurorack module called the English Tear for this purpose. You can find previous posts featuring the English Tear here.

Sketch for the Lost

Published on Oct 11, 2016 voltlife

"An ambient track based on subtle polymetric sequences and timbral variation.

Harmonic drone/sequence: Verbos Harmonic Oscillator into Clouds pitch shifting +1 octave with slight feedback. 7-note Moskwa sequence to HO scan input; slow LFO into width.

Main slow melody: MS20 Mini triangle wave (with subtly resonant filters) through uFold into long delay. Choices joystick controls fold amount and amount of LFO to uFold symmetry. MS 20 sequenced by Verbos Voltage Multistage through A156 and poorly calibrated English Tear (so the low notes go off key, but interestingly, I think), advanced by three gates in each 7-step Moskwa cycle.

Thin backup melody: MS20 multed to A189-1 for subtle bitcrushing, through Serge Resonant EQ into Wow & Flutter for short and wobbly delay. LFO modulates bit reduction; manual tweaking of EQ and delay feedback."

MATRIXSYNTH NAMM 2013: KORG MS20 Mini Pics

The booth was packed, I knew what this was, and I knew it would get plenty of coverage, so I took three quick pics and moved on.  Click them for their full size glory.

The key take away for me was that like the original this does not support the 1 Volt per Octave format of eurorack and other modern modular sythesizers, so if you plan to use this with one, you'll need a convertor like the recently announced Harvestman English Tear.

The Harvestman English Tear - Volt Per Octave Converter for KORG MS20

via The Harvestman on Facebook

"Many good things were displayed at NAMM. To me, one of the most important was the new Korg MS-20 Mini. I played with it for a long time and enjoyed it very much. It is very close to my full-size model. The MS-20 itself is an electronic instrument of extreme cultural importance, being the tool that motivated the development of several significant electronic music styles. This new version, available to all at a very low price, can only mean good things for the further development of these styles, and modular synthesis technique in general.

Because of this impending instrument release, I announce with great satisfaction ENGLISH TEAR, the first in a line of small utility modules. This module features the expected 'voltage processor' attenuverter and big offset knobs, but also includes a full set of functions for interfacing to an MS-20. Easy conversion from exponential volt-per-octave to linear hertz-per-volt and back, as well as V-trigger to S-trigger conversion. Jack normalling fixes the voltage processors to these converter circuits, so you may scale the input voltages as desired. The log/expo converter ciruits also have many other uses in your modular system beyond the conversion of pitched voltages.

Price? Cheaper than anything else I've done. It will be released when the MS-20 comes out. I was thinking of dropping it into the Zorlon/Donut production run scheduled for April, but if the MS is somehow released before that I can expedite the build."
