Prophet X Showcase With J3P0

Playlist:

1. Prophet X Showcase With J3P0 - Les
“Les” — Progressive Soul. This is a mellow and melodic groove built around the warm textures of Prophet X electric piano, tasty B3-style organ, a lush synth pad, and punchy synth brass.

It’s no secret that the Prophet X is Sequential’s most ground-breaking evolution of the Prophet yet. With an ultra-powerful synergy of two simultaneous 16-bit, 48kHz sample-based instruments plus two high-resolution digital oscillators — all processed through analog filters — it covers a vast expanse of sonic and stylistic territory.

To test the limits of what the P-X could do in the hands of one of our most talented artist friends, we asked keyboardist/composer/producer J3PO (Julian Pollack) to stretch it in every direction possible. He responded by unleashing his creativity on five original short pieces, inspired and created entirely by the Prophet X.

We share them with you here — proof that the Prophet X can take you anywhere.
2. Prophet X Showcase With J3P0 - Tribal Feud
'Tribal Feud' — Cinematic. Equal parts tension and release, this piece is a mini master class in film scoring. It features breathy Prophet X choirs, orchestral-style percussion, sparkling acoustic guitars, and silky synth strings.
3. Prophet X Showcase With J3P0 - Home With You
“Home With You” — Americana. The spotlight here is on an expressive, crystalline solo acoustic guitar, complete with hammer-ons and subtle, slide-type embellishments. This is the Prophet X at its most expressive, with its tonal richness and nuance on full display.
4. Prophet X Showcase With J3P0 - Neon Skies
“Neon Skies” — Synthwave. With a moody 80’s-style cinematic vibe, this piece showcases powerful Prophet X drums, thick synth bass, a swirling synth pad, and an anthemic synth lead.
5. Prophet X Showcase With J3P0 - Thunder
“Thunder” — Experimental Trap. A moody showcase of synth build-ups and breakdowns. On display here are sizzling Prophet X electronic drums, tuned percussion, atmospheric pads, and soaring synth leads.

Sequential Artist Spotlight: Corbu

video upload by Sequential

"Corbu is the music and visual art made by a grown-up choirboy-turned-psychonaut, and a hairstylist/lyricist who had barely touched an instrument until she was playing on a Jumbotron at Austin City Limits. Jonathan Graves and Amanda create dirty, electronic dreampop as a kind of medicine, trying to lure their audience deeper into their own subconscious while giving them something to sing along to. Jonathan has written a number of Corbu songs in his dreams, and Amanda contributes real-world, "non-musical" samples and textures that push and pull against the pop song format, as they occasionally dive off a cliff together into a pool of abstraction and ambient noise. Corbu has toured with Bloc Party, performed with Goldfrapp, played at Austin City Limits and Electric Forest festivals, and finished their debut album Crayon Soul with Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, MGMT, The Flaming Lips). Their Lost & Found EP, featuring a collaboration with Jimi Goodwin of the band Doves, is out now.

This video spotlight features Jonathan Graves of Corbu and the Mopho x4.

Sequential Artist Spotlight Interview with DELAURENTIS

You can find the interview on Sequential's website here.

"Musician, producer, composer, writer, and singer – DeLaurentis is one and more. It’s the story of a French little girl who would watch her dad playing music, and quickly understood that musical notes could spring up and fly away from her arms, her hands, her fingers. The music was a part of her. With this revelation, the sky opened up to her. After several years spent at the Conservatory she became a self-taught producer, and discovered the world of computer music influenced by Laurie Anderson, one of the first women to pioneer electronic music. DeLaurentis settled in Paris in 2015, and released her first two EPs. She started to get noticed then, with her unique universe and music videos. Her new album “UNICA” is due to release on September 3rd, 2021. We chatted with DeLaurentis on how she uses the Prophet Rev2 in her music."

First announced on May 9th, Novation's latest Circuit Rhythm is here.

Details via Novation:

"Introducing Novation Circuit Rhythm

Sample, make beats, and perform like never before, with the latest addition to the Circuit family. The wait is finally over. The next addition to our Novation Circuit family is here to bring new life to beatmaking and turn samples in to stellar tracks. With eight sample tracks, built-in recording, performance effects, on-the-go capabilities and more, Circuit Rhythm is the beatmaker’s best friend. In a brand-new direction for Novation, Circuit Rhythm puts sampling in the spotlight and provides a whole host of fresh features aimed to take beatmaking to new heights.

Sampling is at the heart of Circuit Rhythm. Record straight into Circuit Rhythm through the audio inputs, and instantly capture sound from records, synths, or even a phone. Designed with a focus on immediate sampling and artistic expression, users can capture creative ideas quickly and stay inspired.

With a lightning-fast sequencer, beatmakers can start turning those samples into killer beats with ease. Whether playing in drums, making basslines or chopping straight from vinyl, music makers can play back samples however they want and listen through stereo out or with headphones. Re-sample and sculpt sounds with limitless creative possibilities.

Circuit Rhythm’s eight sample tracks, each with their own 32-step patterns chainable for 256 steps per track, gives creators sample space to find their groove and craft killer tracks, all with an intuitive screenless workflow, common to all Circuit products. Stay quantised or give beats real human feel and go off-grid and record to micro steps. Keep beats interesting with probability and pattern mutate.

Performers can take to the stage with Circuit Rhythm and bring vibrant performance- focused Grid FX to their beats. Give samples character with beat repeat, vinyl simulation, and many more effects to really create massive sound. Circuit Rhythm is well-equipped to handle any scenario and is brilliant for making dope beats in the studio or used to capture creative ideas for beatmakers on the move. Make Circuit Rhythm part of a studio set up with full-size five-pin MIDI in, out, and thru, and analogue sync out, and monitoring through audio or headphone outputs.

Circuit Rhythm is completely portable. With a compact and tough build, built-in rechargeable battery and microSD card slot for expandable storage or loading in samples and projects, music makers never have to stop creating with Circuit Rhythm.

With Novation’s online companion Components, Circuit Rhythm’s creative potential expands even further. Users can dive into Circuit Rhythm using the browser-based or standalone desktop app, and load samples, backup projects, download artist-made soundpacks, and create custom patches so that creators can give their music production their unique flavour.
