various & unique sounds of the Korg Modwave / Native

video upload by Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com)

"Patches / presets compatible with VST / Native plugin. Vid 3 with softer, slower sounds (& more pads): [2nd video here] | My thoughts & how to buy this soundset / soundpack: https://sounds-for-synths.com/korg-mo...

No talking demo of Korg Modwave. I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, reverbs, noises and other effects are part of the Modwave engine & mod matrix. I recorded my demo straight through an audio card. Also, you don’t need any custom wavetables or add-ons for my patches to work – just a standard Modwave / Native unit."

Prophet-6 versatility demo - 150 custom patches / presets (for music, soundtrack, games)

video upload by Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com)

Update: new video added below.

"My review & how to buy my soundpack: http://sounds-for-synths.com/sequenti...

No talking demo of Sequential Prophet-6. All patches custom-made by Jexus. I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, reverbs, noises and other effects are part of the Prophet-6 engine. However, I was using a limiter, so some of the sounds in my demo may sound a bit more beefy."

the mighty M.F. / 130 patches for Arturia Microfreak (vid 2)

video upload by Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com)

"My thoughts on the synth & how to buy: https://sounds-for-synths.com/arturia...

No talking demo. All patches custom-made by Jexus. As you all know the Microfreak is monoaural and has no onboard FX. It sounds slightly different and more “stereo” in my demo because some of the sounds have been EQ-ed, and many of the sounds have a chorus and / or stereo delay & reverb applied (but nothing that would dramatically alter the original timbre of the synth like phasers, flangers, pitch shifters, etc). The wet / dry ratio is usually 20:80 (or 20% mix in other words), reaching 50:50 in a few patches (I used the simplest presets on a Lexicon MX). I wanted to make the sounds nice for the ear but I also wanted show the true sound of this synth without too much embellishment or experimentation.

Here's a short FX dry/wet comparison to give you an idea what the patches sound like without FX:"

Sequential OB-6 | Inside (ambient demo)

video upload by MIDERA

MIDERA OB-6 posts

"I have honestly stared at this synth more than any other synth for the last three years, online that is. I watched videos upon videos and thought "it sounds good... but what is it that people *love* about it?" I wasn't going to spend $2000+ on a synth without testing it. No, I only do that with everything else (like the Prophet 10 and Prophet 12). Ok, so I do do that.

I managed to play one locally. Twice. The desktop version. I walked away from my first experience thinking "Wow, their Virus TI2 sounds amazing." I own the TI1, so obviously I didn't need that. But the point was, I didn't really think the OB-6 was that great.

Then, I managed to go back, this time with my own headphones. My opinion didn't change. However, this time they had an Oberheim OB-Xa, which sounded incredible, I could hardly believe my ears. I left, again, disappointed by the OB-6.

Fast-forward, I was going to do a trade, my JX-3P + cash for a friend's OB-6 keyboard. Well, they took the JX-3P but needed the OB-6 for a show, so I let them bring that later. In the process, they decided not to keep the JX-3P, but did let me borrow their OB-6, for a few hours, just to sit and play, which was awfully kind of them. What you hear is my time with it. Or rather, the first half of that time with it. I knew nothing about it, but I *DID* tune it prior to starting recording - and it managed to get out of tune by the end.

Peak / Summit - part 2 (250 custom patches / presets)

video upload by Jexus

"No talking demo of Novation Peak & Summit. All patches custom-made by Jexus. I did not use additional FX in the demo, all the delays, reverbs, noises, loops and other effects are part of the Peak / Summit engine & mod matrix.

---

So I bought the Summit and made patches for it and then learned that they won't be accepted by the Peak. So then I bought the Peak and recreated the patches in Peak format. Then, when I was auditioning the patches on Peak and Summit simultaneously I thought they sounded cool together. So I decided to make a video this way. So I had to buy a new widescreen camera and a new capture card. Then I realized I also needed to upgrade my video editing software and change some plugins. So everything is different;)

Additional info about the setup: the patches will work and sound the same on Peak and Summit. By saying "chained" I mean just the Midi connection. The Peak is receiving all notes and knob info from my Summit (via a Midi cable). The synths are playing the exact same patches, but they are producing the audio independently and you are hearing Peak in the left channel of your headphones and the Summit in the right channel. The voice architecture / allocating is unaffected and unchanged - take a look at the "voice LEDs" on the Summit and Peak. When I hit a key and the patch is for example a 3-voice patch, you will see three LEDs blinking on the Peak and also three LEDs blinking on the Summit (and what naturally follows, if I use another finger to hit another key so that 2 keys are depressed, three new LEDs will light up, totalling in six). So the patches are not exceeding the voice count of the synths - you don't need to do any tricks to play them the same way I'm playing them;)

My patches come in a soundbank saved as a sysex file exported directly from my Peak & Summit. They will work on both synths! Also, you don't need any custom / external wavetables. All you need is a standard factory unit of Peak or Summit. In the demo I'm sometimes using the bi-timbral setting of the Summit (multimode with patch A and patch B active). If you have a Peak, you will receive the soundpack as a collection of single layer patches. If you have a Summit, you will also get single layer patches plus the multimode setup from the demo."

Great Synth Mysteries Ep. 4: Whatever Happened to the LinnDrum II

video upload by Noir Et Blanc Vie

"So, it's been over 2 years since I completed an episode of Great Synth Mysteries. Cool. Well, I honestly thought about this for at least a year, really hard to top that Jexus two parter ya know. The reason this story worked was because I was lucky enough to find a solid storyline using Internet Wayback Machine, so the research took FOREVER. (Plus, new interviews gave me better insights) I'll probably do 1 of these a year going forward, but these are by far my favorites. I'm a story teller, and this (while it takes sometimes a dang year) is the ultimate rush for brain like mine who needs to tell a compelling story. I hope you enjoy it, and I thank everyone who deals with all my low effort content in the meantime lol
