"We take a look at the volca nubass, Korg's first analog synth to be equipped with a Nutube new-generation vacuum tube in its oscillator. Vacuum tube plus analog means that the sound is warm, thick, and rich. The nubass is also equipped with a 16-step sequencer for great acid bass lines.

The TB-303 was manufactured by the Roland Corporation in 1982 in limited numbers and became the sound of Acid in the late 1980s. Fast forward to today – and we have the Volca Nubass a worthy successor with some great new features."

"I happened to get my hands on the volca nubass, a vacuum tube powered analogue bass synthesizer. It is actually the first synthesizer ever featuring a Nutube (the latest vacuum tube technology developed by KORG). This tiny little thing can sound REALLY mean!

In this clip, I'm basically fooling around with the filter, the envelopes, the saturation and drive effects. Especially the sequencer functions "Accents", "Transpose" and "Slides" are coming in really handy when creating some typical acid bass lines. I'm loving the fact, that you can randomize all these three functions separately on the fly. So, you can create interesting variations of the original bass line or get completely new ideas with the hit of a button.

I just added a little reverb from the KORG KAOSS PAD KP3. The drums are coming from the volca sample."

But what if we use the Nu:Tekt OD:S tube overdrive pedal DIY kit to add even more tube gain to our signal? The result is a totally distorted acid bassline with massive squelch and filter rip."
