ARP 2600 with Euclidean Circles

O.Z. Hall

"The Korg ARP 2600 is augmented by a eurorack cabinet built to support the 2600. The focus is on the Euclidean Circles (v1.9) module and the great rhythms you can easily create with it.

Thanks James Carr for building this cabinet for me!

Technical note. I'm using the Intellijel Metropolis sequencer as a clock source (to start/stop the sequence). The actual sequencing that you hear is from the Behringer 960 Sequential Controller."

ARP 2600 with AM2140 EMu Resonant Filter

O.Z. Hall

"This video explores expanding the ARP 2600 with an addition multi-mode filter. This is similar to what one might do with an ARP 2500 with both the 24db/oct Low Pass filter as well as the 1047 Colin multi-mode filter. I hope you enjoy the video"

ARP 2600 plus digital delay

O.Z. Hall

"This demo shows a Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP in eurorack format patched into the Korg ARP 2600 to finish off the arpeggiated sound with a digital delay and a drum voice. Here's more detail on the Z506: [posted here]

It is also a available in the 5U MU/Dotcom format."

ARP 2600 clock with divider

O.Z. Hall

"This video demonstrates a technique for using the internal sample and hold clock on the ARP 2600 as a gate. In addition, you can use the electronic switch as a divider, to get a clock at 1/2 the rate of the internal clock.

That technique plus the duophonic keyboard creates a very playable voicing that simulates a 3 voice chord."

ARP 2600 Ring Modulator as VCA

O.Z. Hall

"I don't want to flood the channel, but I thought this might be interesting to review. On the ARP 2600 I'm using the Ring Modulator as Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA). Normally the Ring Mod is used to get "clang" tones for bells, or to get the 'X-Wing fighter' radio voice. It's also usable as a VCA. In fact it's kind of "super" vca because it is a "4 quadrant" multiplier vs the normal VCA which is a 2 quadrant multiplier (google it ... interesting stuff)."

ARP Pro Soloist High Pass (HP) Filter Section Clone by O.Z. Hall

Published on May 14, 2020 O.Z. Hall

"I cloned the ARP Pro Soloist High Pass (HP) Filter section. The output of the high pass filter section goes straight into the 24DB/Oct Low Pass filter on the soloist.
There are 4 - 6DB/oct HP filter circuites at 4 different cutoffs. They are in parallel. The outputs are summed.
This video demonstrates each of the 4 filters in isolation. Next they filters are combined in every combination (limit two filters at a time)."

ARP 2600 configuration of a Synthesizers DotCom portable 22

Published on Sep 9, 2018 O.Z. Hall

"This is a follow-up video from my December 2015 video 'ARP 2600 configuration of a Synthesizers DotCom portable 22 cabinet '.

I have added a number of new custom modules which greatly expand the preset capability of the system. Part 1 describes the different modules in the system. Part 2 demos some preset sounds."

ARP 2600 configuration of a Synthesizers DotCom portable 22 cabinet

Published on Dec 27, 2015 O.Z. Hall

"This is a brief overview of a DOTCOM modular system in a Portable 22 cabinet. It was configured to have the capabilities of an ARP 2600 (minus the pre-amp, envelope follower and voltage processor sections). It features a normalized signal path and a "programmer" which supplies a mix of envelope generator, LFO, bias (cutoff) for the VCF. It also provides voltages to control the resonance, tuning of VCO3, Envelope generator controlling the SYNC effect (from the IAN Fritz 5 Pulser), and the "Fat" CV for the Synthia Saw Animator module."

Emulating Reverb and Delay using an Analog Modular Synthesizer

Published on Dec 26, 2015 O.Z. Hall

"This is a short vlog on emulating reverb and digital delay effects using an analog modular synthesizer. the synthesizer used is mostly a DOTCOM synth in a Portable 22 cabinet. it is designed to emulate the capabilities of the ARP 2600 synthesizer in two respects: 1) the functionality of the modules 2) a 'normalized signal path', to minimize the patching required."
