Serge 5u Tones and Timbres

video upload by Rhythmicons

"These are 5u Serge circuits by Ken Stone/Catgirl Synth and Elby designs, assembled and paneled by by Lower West Side studios. The Dual Universal Slope Generators are the sound sources going into the STG Soundlabs mixer before heading into the Resonant EQ and '73 Filter. From there the signal is going to a Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo, a Roland DC-50, and an AKG BX-10. With this program I tried to capture what it is like to try to maintain a smile while feeling awful inside. I began with the desire to create something beautiful with the Serge, but the pull towards the experimental is sometimes far too great to resist."

5u Serge With Reverbs and Delays

video upload by Rhythmicons

"A 5u Serge 'panel' consisting of two Dual Universal Slope Generators, a Smooth and Stepped Generator, a Waveform Multiplier, a Resonant EQ, a '73 VCF are creating the audio. A 5u Buchla Source of Uncertainty module modulates the time of a sequencer, that is sent to the Filter cutoff. A STG Soundlabs mixer harnesses the DUSGs. All of the signals are being routed to an AKX BX10, a Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo, and a Roland DC 50 for reverb and delay effects."

A Tribute to Klaus Schulze pt. 1

video upload by Rhythmicons

"More to come.

Moogerfoogers at work:
The CP-251 sends noise to the 105B Bass Murf.
Delay is provided by the MF-104z.
The Freqbox provides a bass drone fed to the MF-101 Low Pass Filter.

A Synthesizers Dotcom q960 sends pitch and gate signals to a bank of Moslab 921bs. Those are then filtered by the Moslab 904b Hi Pass filter.
Later, the LFO of the CP251 modulates the rate of the sequencer."

Moog (2019) Vs Moslab 901b Oscillator Comparison

video by Rhythmicons

"There is rigorous debate in the modular community concerning how authentic the sound of the clones are to the actual Moogs. Moog as a brand inspires confidence in the quality and fetches hefty asking prices on the used market. Their scarcity (prior to 2015) and price keep these out of the hands of most but nevertheless are coveted because of their sound, history, and prestige. For many, the clones are the only option, but some (such as myself) would never be satisfied that the clones really capture the magic until they could hear for themselves how the two systems sound side-by-side.
This video series seeks to answer this question, beginning with the venerable 901B oscillator. The series will then progress to the filters, and then comparing complete synth voices."

Warm by the Analog Fire (Drone/Sequence part 2)

Published on Nov 15, 2015 Rhythmicons

"This is an extension of the other drone I did earlier today but with numerous effects, stereo processing and sequencing.

Moslab Modular
Synthesizers.com sequencer
AKG BX-10 Reverb
Moog Bass Murf
Moog 104z Delay
Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo Tape Delay

So the output was split into a few signals, one going to the murf and the moog delay. The murf is going to the board and the delay is going to the board, panned left and right.
Another signal is going to the BX-10 which is going to the board panned to the center.
The third signal is going to the RE-301 where it is affected with chorus and echo. The Chorus output is going to the board, and the delay is going to the board both panned opposites.
Delay times are all set to different rates.
There is some droning to show the characteristic of the effects and some sequencing to showcase the delays. I think there were 5 channels of the moslab going back into the board."
