Beats and a Bassline with Noise and a Sequenced Low Pass Filter

YouTube Uploaded by Rhythmicons on Apr 1, 2012

"I began this program attempting to create a noise based drum sequence, by using the sequencer to modulate the Moogerfooger 101 Filter, but when I turned the resonance to maximum, It came with a bassline included! Best listened to on Good Speakers.
I then ran that through a phaser and delay for other effects."

First Sequences with Voyager, Taurus, and MoogerFoogers

Uploaded by Rhythmicons on Apr 1, 2012

"This is the first sequence that I programmed with a brand new Q119 sequencer from Synthesizers.com. I ran the sequencer through the freqbox, the 101 filter and through a Moog 104z Delay. The sequencer is running a 3x8 sequence controlling the freq of the Freqbox, the Cutoff Freq of the Filter and the Delay Time. Modulation of the Delay time creates alternate "squashed" pitches that simulates polyphonics.

THe same sequence is then sped up and sent to the Taurus 3, where I do an impromptu Voyager solo over it......without thinking to tune the instruments together first."

Etherwave Plus Theremin Controls Minimoog Voyager Part 1.

YouTube via Rhythmicons
"This is a demonstration of the Etherwave Plus controlling the MiniMoog Voyager Analog Synthesizer. In the second part I demonstrate a spur of the moment Theremin Excercise in which the Gate CV activates a Sample and Hold, sent to the Freqbox for random note matching/harmonization.
Just in case any of you out there were wondering what it would sound like for a Voyager to be a slave to the Theremin, here it is a new Etherwave Plus demonstration. Not very melodic, this demo is just to give you an idea of the way the Theremin and the Voyager respond and react to this new area of control.

I had a Standard Theremin upgraded at the factory.

Thanks for watching!

Droning Machine

YouTube Published on Jun 7, 2012 by Rhythmicons

"The Freqbox is a very underrated device.

This is very simple programming, just some slight modulation of the waveshape, to an overdriven 101 LPF. Then a random sequence with most of the pots totally CCW seemed to simulate a two person morse code conversation using the Ringmod as a pitch source.

Oscs sent to a synthesiers.com VCA and to the MF 104z Delay prior to going to the board.

I think the camera's mic input is mono."

Serge 5u Tones and Timbres

video upload by Rhythmicons

"These are 5u Serge circuits by Ken Stone/Catgirl Synth and Elby designs, assembled and paneled by by Lower West Side studios. The Dual Universal Slope Generators are the sound sources going into the STG Soundlabs mixer before heading into the Resonant EQ and '73 Filter. From there the signal is going to a Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo, a Roland DC-50, and an AKG BX-10. With this program I tried to capture what it is like to try to maintain a smile while feeling awful inside. I began with the desire to create something beautiful with the Serge, but the pull towards the experimental is sometimes far too great to resist."

ála Subotnick

Published on Feb 7, 2015 Rhythmicons

"Inspired by a technique mentioned by Morton Subotnick in the 'I Dream of Wires' documentary, I took three sequencers at different rates and lengths to create a sort of pseudo-random or quazi-aleatoric pattern.

The Synthesizers.com q960 set at a very slow rate is controlling the pitch of the Moog Voyager. The q119 is controlling the Voyager's filter. The Moog CP-251 LFO is controlling the speed of the q962 Sequential switch , which is bouncing between the rows at its own speed. The output of the Voyager is gong to the Vermona VSR3 spring reverb.

If anyone has any ideas how to get rid of the hum, let me know.

Thanks for watching."

Filter Beats

YouTube Uploaded by Rhythmicons on Dec 3, 2010

"I wanted to see if I could create a beat using only a filter and a white noise source. What I ended up creating was more of a bassline once the Filter was fully resonant.
Here is the result in a high quality audio."

Squarewave Filtering

Published on Sep 22, 2014 Rhythmicons

"A Tektronix 475 takes a look at a square wave generated by a Synthesizers.com q106 oscillator and filtered by a q107 Slate Variable Filter. The scope will show the effects of pulse width modulation, as it is being filtered though Lowpass, Bandpass, Notch, and High pass filter settings with and without resonance.

Towards the end of the video I will briefly select ramp, sawtooth, triangle and sine with the same above effects applied.

Sorry for the unsteady cam. Got your motion sickness pills handy?

Thanks for watching"

A Piece for Modular and Theremin

Published on Nov 18, 2019 Rhythmicons

"This is a draft of a concept of an alien world. Recorded in one take.

Moslab 901 oscillators with a bit of FM on the filter going to an AKG BX-10 Reverb. Theremin going to a Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo with a touch of delay and reverb.

Thanks for listening."

Etherferatu

YouTube via Rhythmicons. Added to this post.
"Moog Music Theremin Halloween Contest Entry 2009

Poem:
The Beast arises from an aunnum's slumber
Driven by an endless hunger.
His crimson eye in search of blood
From your veins shall come the scarlet flood.

Into the night the hunter prowls.
Through cobblestone streets and warewolf howls.
The Prey so easily seduced, its sweet.
To The beconing call of Trick or Treat.

Ahh, a bit of reluctance at the door,
Of corse you know, this means war.

Etherferatu spies from afar
This victim's name he soon shall call.

The master of the night retires
To his coffin.....(Hey your food is ready)
Mommy, Im dubbing vocals, I told you never to bother me when im dubbing voals.
Oh this is live? This mic is still on? (Oh Crap)

Happy Halloween , MoogerFoogers."

Moog (2019) Vs Moslab 901b Oscillator Comparison

video by Rhythmicons

"There is rigorous debate in the modular community concerning how authentic the sound of the clones are to the actual Moogs. Moog as a brand inspires confidence in the quality and fetches hefty asking prices on the used market. Their scarcity (prior to 2015) and price keep these out of the hands of most but nevertheless are coveted because of their sound, history, and prestige. For many, the clones are the only option, but some (such as myself) would never be satisfied that the clones really capture the magic until they could hear for themselves how the two systems sound side-by-side.
This video series seeks to answer this question, beginning with the venerable 901B oscillator. The series will then progress to the filters, and then comparing complete synth voices."
