Solar 42 anti-GAS therapy 💸

video upload by Speldosa

"I created this song, that I named 'Drune', as a form of anti-GAS therapy with the respect to the Solar 42, where I set out to create an ambient piece with some form of drone bass together with a layer that used a 5-step sequence (the same number of steps that the Solar 42 sequencer has). I'm pleasantly surprised with how far I could get with the gear I already own.

I play the Expressive E Osmose live (using the factory patch called 'Stellaris') and send it to the Analog Four mkII where I add some reverb. The white noise and bass comes from a single, monophonic patch on the Analog Four mkII, where I play sustained drone notes utilizing all four voices. Everything then gets sent to the Syntakt where the additional elements are added, using a single pattern, before heading to the Analog Heat +FX for mastering. What you hear is recorded directly from the latter."

The UDO Super 6 paired with a reverb pedal is 🌈🦄🐧

video upload by Speldosa

"For this piece, named "Cooldown", I brought out my UDO Super 6 and paired it up with my Boss Reverb RV-6 for some reverb. Everything then goes through the Elektron Syntakt, which in turn sens everything to the Elektron Analog Heat +FX. What you hear is recorded directly from the Analog Heat +FX without any post-processing applied."

Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O.II Midi Looper

video upload by Perplex On

"This jam tries to utilize the #ep133 as a midi looper, punching in midi notes live into it and sending them to the iPad playing #klevgrand #speldosa. I realized that a few punch-in fx on the EP-133 do midi related stuff which is great for adding a bit of spice to the loops in real-time. Other convenient thing is that the iPad also powers the EP-133 in addition to having midi over the same cable. Thanks to my little wooden birdie friends for the support."

Speldosa - Wintergatan Music Box

video upload by Klevgrand

"We're so happy and proud to announce a unique collaboration and release together with @Wintergatan

Speldosa – Wintergatan Music Box is an instrument that combines the physical craftsmanship with the digital. Speldosa (Swedish for “Music Box”) is the essence of the shared beliefs of Klevgrand and Wintergatan, and their fascination with minimalism. A simple melody played on a music box can contain an equal amount of emotional power as any symphonic work.

"Speldosa is the result of a unique collaboration between Klevgrand and the Swedish artist Wintergatan/Martin Molin. Wintergatan has primarily worked in the physical world (the Marble Machine is probably the most astonishing example), while Klevgrand has performed its craft within the digital sphere. When these two worlds now meet, it results in a product that both visually and audibly inspires the creation of music that you didn’t know you had in you.

Speldosa (Swedish for "Music Box") is the essence of the shared beliefs of Klevgrand and Wintergatan, and their fascination with minimalism. A simple melody played on a music box can contain an equal amount of emotional power as any symphonic work. There is something about the music box sound that never ceases to fascinate.

The instrument itself has been meticulously recorded by Wintergatan and transformed into a playable digital instrument plugin. It features four different models (Modern, Vintage, Antique, and Eternal = Reversed), two different Room models, and an algorithmic reverb.

Wintergatan about Speldosa:

I created the sound by sampling a music box using an acoustic guitar as resonance box. I chose the best samples and it was instant magic. The Music Box went on to become the sonic signature for my two bands, Detektivbyrån and Wintergatan, both recognised for their unique sound. The Speldosa has been the secret sauce in my music career and i hope other musicians finds it as useful as i have.
There is a special quality to this exact music box sound that lifts it above the novelty feeling of a toy and turns it into a real music instrument. It just sounds so good, that’s really it. And it is a sound that makes you write music instantly - the music comes from the sound itself.
During the collaboration with Klevgrand, when they sent me the first beta version of the plugin, i ended up playing around with the sound for three hours, losing track of time. I wrote three songs that day when i was scheduled to actually do something else. That's what the sound does to me, and i think it will do the same for others."
