DIY Mutable Shades (or How to Patch Sidechain Compression for Eurorack)

video upload by Extralife

"In this video I build a Mutable Instruments Shades triple attenuverter module for my eurorack system. I'm using it in combination with a doepfer envelope follower and a VCA to create a sidechain compressor for my synth bass and drum machine setup.

In this video I build the "Shane" PCB from modular-addict, but as you'll see I found it unsatisfactory from a layout and documentation perspective. I think a better alternative is the 'Mutated Shane' pcb v2 from Pusherman, which looks to have been updated a little bit: https://pushermanproductions.com/prod..."

Mads The Synthesizer Addict's First Homemade Synthesizer

My First Homemade Synthesizer! Published on Jun 27, 2018

"This machine was created using Axoloti http://www.axoloti.com/
Thanks to Johannes Taelman for making it so easy for me to get started making synthesizers!
This has helped me coping with my synthesizer addiction for a while...

At its core, its a 5 voice digital FM synth which has 3 modulators.
- Its being sequenced by the Arturia Keystep.
You can choose how much of each modulator can effect the carrier and you have an attack & decay knob for one of the modulators.
This makes for a nice FM sounding machine that is easily modified, but also lacking depth.

- It comes with a 4 stage envelope and has an infinity knob to basically sustain the notes forever.

- You can switch out the filter & resonance knobs to be controlling a bitcrusher effect OR the super far-out-granular effect you hear all over the video.

Where it ironically says "Instrument Selection" you have reverb and a knob that controls either reverb amount, decay or lowpass filtering on the reverb it self.

The front panel and the wooden box was laser cut and laser engraved. I used 3D software to design and measure the box and a vector software to create the layout of the front and back panel.
-I would not recommend using acrylic for the front panel, it bends...

Gear Addict Clothing - Synth Ts

via Jordan:
"I've always had a hard time finding cool t shirts and stuff to wear so I went on some forums and started talking to people-- and found out that people have a hard time finding cool gear too. I hate all the generic t's I see in trendy stores...so we started brainstorming, put together some ideas, and i made some designs.

Our designs range from microphones and recording related, to analog gear, vintage and modular synths, theremins and other fun stuff. I am constantly talking to people in the community on forums and making new designs. We are a small community so why not help each other out.

I figure Matrixsynth would be a great place to get ideas and suggestions from people, as well as great exposure for the kinds of people we are trying to design shirts and other accessories for. Above sales is the community-- we design shirts by and for our small little niche, and would like to try to extend out to more people."

If you have any ideas feel free to comment or shoot Jordan an email at gearaddict at gmail.com.
