Ruffletron Synth Skirt Controller

Ruffletron - demo from lara grant on Vimeo.

A basic demo of the sensors embedded in the skirt and neck piece.
One of the yellow buttons is meant to have a deeper bass sound, but we recorded using the in jack on the camera, so it couldn't be captured.
You can tell I am not a musician.

I've always wanted to combine dance and light with my work in electronics and music. So I made a light sensitive wireless suit wich translates the light intensity from various parts on the body into raw midi data.

Roland TR-808 T-Shirt by The Dole Shirt

Some pics of my recently received Roland TR-808 T-Shirt from The Dole Shirt. You might remember it from this video. I have to say, this T is pretty nice. It's a standard Gildan cotton T. I'll see how the print holds up over time, it does look great. I like the Dole Shirt logo on the back - it's not too large, about the size of the bottom of a beer bottle.

"Cast your mind back, if you can, to 1988 and the (second) ‘Summer of Love’. Illegal parties were being hosted in inconspicuous venues up and down the country and the headline-grabbing acid house phenomenon was everywhere. Drug use and police raids fuelled negative press coverage, but the psychedelic sound of acid house had a defining role in the development of electronic music and became a part of music history.

Rather than focusing on the narcotic, this ElectricSun T-shirt is dedicated to the machine that made it all possible over 20 years ago – the Roland TB-303. The unique squelchy sound of the 303 dominated the latter part of the 80’s club and rave culture, and still continues to appear on tracks to this day. As well as acid house, 303 basslines could also be heard on more radio-friendly tunes such as Shannon’s ‘Let the Music Play‘,

Heaven 17’s ‘Let Me Go‘,

and Orange Juice’s ‘Rip It Up‘."
