2023/06 - Norns Dub

video upload by Stereoping

"Summer tunes warmup. The Monome Norns running the beautiful 'RAINDROPS' script is sent through a DIY-PCB Juno-6 Chorus with Stereo-mod. The Norns is intentionally not temposynced and accompanied by a modded Alesis HR-16 which makes funny things when one of the Voice Eproms is removed. The HR-16's audio runs through a Yamaha CS-5 lowpass into a DIY Axoloti-based effects unit with lots of knobs for realtime tweaking Reverb/Delay and a little granulizer. The HR-16's midiclock drives a Volca Drum with Midi-Out-mod. The Volca's sequencer's Midinotes (incl. probablitiy and ratchetings) are converted by a little DIY Midi-box into the suitable notes for the Solin8 (starting at 3:10), a cheap 8bit-glitch teensy-based WAV-Drumsounds-Player with downsampling faders. Droning with Pasco Scientific

video upload by osixoone sevenone

"A little drone with Pasco Scientific educational equipment, and a Tibetan singing bowl, looped with Axoloti. The mic input is pretty hummy, so i tuned the drone to the hum and made it part of the drone.
The Fourier Synthesizer is fixed at a base frequency off 440 Hz."

"A few weeks ago I saw this Pasco Scientific set on a second hand site, and thought that these would be great for making drone music. It was made for education on waveforms, AM, FM, and Fourier Synthesis, and once belonged to a University. Steve Mann made a great video about the Pasco Fourier Synthesizer [below]. Today i made a little drone video with this set, and looping it with the Axoloti Core. The dual oscillators have sine, saw, square and ramp waveforms, and there is AM, DSB (dual sideband) and FM. OSC 1 is routed to the modulation input for OSC 2. You can also cross modulate them. At 4:00 i patch the sum out OSC 1 modulation. The Fourier Synthesizer is fixed at 440 Hz, the harmonics have individual level and phase controls."

Pic of the setup.

PASCO FOURIER SYNTHESIZER: Understanding Fourier series with one of my favorite things from 1970s

video upload by Steve Mann

"One of my favorite things from my childhood was the PASCO FOURIER SYNTHESIZER which left me with a very deep and fundamental understanding of periodic waveforms and their Fourier series representations.
I was fortunate enough to be able to play on this apparatus back in the early 1970s.
Here I try to capture the ineffable sense of awe and wonder that it left upon me.
Also featured is the Eico460 cathode ray oscilloscope that I've had since childhood, modified by switching over to a transparent CRT so you can see inside it and understand how an oscillosocpe works.

In 1978 I composed a piece of music that contains only a single note (while its various harmonics gently rise and fall): Adagio for PASCO FOURIER SYNTHESIZER and Lock-in Amplifier.
In 2016 we (Splashtones) did a live performance of this piece, accompanied by hydraulophone and clarinet, as the headline act for VRTO 2016.

-=§ ACID §=- Cyclone TT-303, TT-606 & Axoloti DSP (w/ setup overview) #TTNM

Published on Mar 15, 2020 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Jamming with my Acid music setup again. MORE INFO BELOW :)

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

As usual, my two Cyclone Analogic Bass Bot TB-303 clones are MIDI synced to the TT-606 drum drone. I recently added two Axoloti DSPs to the setup then, which receive the individual instruments' audio streams for FX processing. There's overdrive, bit crushing, delay, reverb and more, to add some flavour to the 303 and 606. Attached to one Axoloti is a Korg nanoKontrol 2 USB-MIDI controller, which lets me adjust the individual effects as well as send MIDI commands to the Roland TR-606 clone, to mute the drum sounds and set shuffle amount.

Check out the Axoloti DSP here:
http://www.axoloti.com/

It's very easy to program, using a cross-platform virtual modular synth patcher software, like on the old Nord Modulars."

SUNDAY ACID (with Cyclone TT-303 mkII + TT-606) #TTNM

Published on Nov 10, 2019 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Got home from a run through the park and felt like jamming on the acid boxes! MORE INFO BELOW

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

Another try at playing my two TB-303 clones at the same times plus the Roland Drumatix TR-606 clone by Cyclone Analogic. I only added a little bit of the Zoom R16's Delay and Reverb to the bass lines.

I got really tempted to buy a Behringer TD-3 yesterday by the way, but I could resist XD I assume their prices on the secondhand market will be even better than they already are new. As I obviously don't really NEED another 303 it's fine to wait or maybe even not buy one ... we'll see. I will however continue to work on my Axoloti companion to the 606 and 303, adding effects like overdrive, distortion, delay and reverb into the little DSP box to add some grit, punch and roominess to the analog audio.

Questions or comments? Go ahead and post them below! :) Thanks for watching! Check out my channel for more Synthesizer Music.

more info - http://vtol.cc/filter/works/mayak

"Mayak is an interactive sound installation consisting of four LTE-modems connected to four Wi-Fi routers. The LED responsible for the display of the Wi-Fi-based data transmission from each of the routers is connected to an Arduino board. Arduino analyses the "flashing", and triggers the synthesizer generating sounds.

To all intents and purposes, the installation represents four open Wi-Fi Internet access points. By connecting to these points, people influence, through their network activity, a rhythmic sound generation process."

::vtol:: magnetophone

::vtol:: magnetophone from ::vtol:: on Vimeo.

Interactive sound object/instrument.

"It sometimes happens that first the piece is born, and only after this you suddenly realize what it is about and how it should be used. Last summer (2018) I very quickly produced an interactive algorithmic object for a small exhibition. This object was producing endless aleatoric compositions using rotating magnets and magnetic field sensor (it was not the first time that I was using this scheme). The title appeared by itself: Magnetophon. The obvious simplicity of the object made me plan some remakes to follow. And then, at some point I got an old classic Soviet pocket radio receiver Neiva RP-205 - this model was so popular that it is still in production, almost without changes (it is being made by ’Production Association “October” - Kamensk-Uralsky’). Suddendly everything came together - the memories of waiting for the favourite song in order to record it on the audio cassette, and many hours spent combing through the radio waves in search of certain noises. I added to my initial object an antenna, a radio receiver and upgraded the firmware for transforming the recorded radio broadcast whirl.

The idea to use radio as a part of musical instrument is not new at all, of course - the musicians, artists and engineers were always attracted by the possibility to incorporate radio noises or randomly received radio broadcasts into the sound flow, or use them as a base for synthesizing new sounds. But of course it’s not a reason to not use this technology again and again. Especially interesting to me are receivers which work in a wide spectrum of frequencies: SW, MW, LW. In spite of the fact that the quantity of the stations is diminishing every year, still even in Moscow from the balcony you can catch programs in 5-6 different languages (for some reason, very often they are theological)."

- axoloti board
- dc motors
- servo motor
- hall sensor
- leds
- ldr sensors
- custom electronics
- 1 channel sound system

Derelict (Axoloti synth, OP1 as a controller)

Published on Nov 6, 2018 ludotex

"Just started messing around with Axoloti. At first I got it to make a portable reverb for the OP1. But it's more fun to make a synth out of it AND a reverb/delay. It's a Blade Runner synth :)

All sounds are coming from the Axoloti, the OP1 is just sending midi (notes and CC for the pots). Straight to the recorder you see on the image.

The patch is a drone, some sine wave, a saw, noise, some subtle lfos, some chorus, reverb and tape delay."
