Gemini 1: Twin Elektron Monomachines
Published on Jan 24, 2014 acemonvw·79 videos
"Inspired by the new Rytm machine, I decided to use a monomachine for drum sounds only. Most of these (kick, snare, hi hats) use the FM+
source. Only one sound used noise.
Although this is not one of my best pieces, I wanted to put something
up to celebrate getting (almost) 500 subscribers :D So thank you everyone for
subscribing!"

Spectralis tutorial #13: Double your polyphonic MIDI parts
Published on Oct 25, 2013 acemonvw·70 videos
"Created a new tutorial (or really a tip/trick) to double the polyphonic parts you can sequence external gear with. Typically, one might think that they can only use the three Dsynth parts, routed to send MIDI notes to external gear, not its internal sampler, to record polyphonic parts. The Asynth (or hybrid synth) parts are monophonic, but because all notes are sent (just one has priority) this means that when you route the signal to a MIDI channel, you can have 3 more polyphonic parts (there are three monophonic 'parts' in the Asynth section, and you can do this for each).
Feel free to ask any questions you might have!
Sorry for all the 'umms', I make these for the fun of it. They are not scripted (I'm sure that's obvious).

"A quick, simple piece I put together using the Spectralis 2 Sample Library V2 from Radikal Technologies. I routed the bass sample through the LP and MM analog filters and used noise for some extra parts, otherwise... this was completely done using only the sample library."

Elektron Monomachine Demo #2: Megaman Spark Man Theme (Nintendo SID ed.)

"Elektron Monomachine demo of Megaman Spark Man Stage music from
Nintendo using SID emulation and noise.
I spent the weekend remaking, or rather, making this piece as close to

just listened to the song and tried my best to recreate this song using
SID and Noise...

Spectralis 2 Fixed Filterbank drums and trigger groups demo
Published on Oct 10, 2013 acemonvw·66 videos
"Only one sample (for strings) was used in this piece. The rest is the
Hybrid Synth, Fixed Filterbank (for drums), and some sequencer lines.
Enjoy :)"
via Michael Dennis Raleigh on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge
"Basically, noise is being passed through different frequencies to create the bass kick, snare, and hi-hats. They might not sound the greatest, but they're not sampled drums. I think it's a neat feature of the spectralis to be able to do this. Further into the song I created a stronger bass kick using the hybrid synth and adding a sequencer-line to detune it in 1 step (so it would go beeoow from a higher note to a lower one, around 4:30 min)."

Using the Microsoft Surface Pro to Edit the Clavia Nord Modulars
Clavia Nord Modular (and G2) editors + Microsoft Surface Pro demo
Published on Oct 5, 2013 acemonvw·63 videos
I'm actually the person referred to in the video that asked about using the Surface Pro to edit the Clavia Nord Modular (I have the Micro Modular). Big thanks to acemonvw for testing this out! I was curious if the touch interface would work well. It appears that with the pen it indeed does. One thing I didn't think about though, was whether the Micro Modular would be recognized by the editor running on Windows 8. You'd think it would but someone I know and trust wasn't so sure. Also, I recently switched to a Mac and tried the editor using Wine which runs Windows programs. The editor picked up my MIDI device but oddly it did not pick up the Micro Modular. If anyone out there has a Nord Modular and a Surface Pro, let us know if the editor picks up the hardware and works with it. Regardless, the G2 editor does work, produces audio and best of all, it is free. If you have a Surface Pro, you have a free modular.
Update: it looks like it works with the Roland UM-ONE MIDI out on Windows 8 as you can see in this video with an Acer W510.
Video description:
"This demo goes through using the Nord Modular (0:00) and G2 (6:00) editors on the Surface Pro. If you want to just know 'Does the Surface Pro work well with these editors?' my answer is 'yes, but...'
The 'but' being that it seemed most useful using the pen throughout. While I at first felt that your fingers would work fine for knob twisting and such, even on the Nord Modular editor (not G2), I looked back at the video and felt that my finger still had trouble catching the knobs. However, I would say WITH the pen, you would have very little trouble using the editors. I hope you enjoyed the video and that it provided you with some insight into this combination. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you :)"
