"The embedded youtube video is of the unit for sale here at reverb, with audio fed directly into the camera. The unit is in good condition, but operationally, the keybed has some issues, with some notes not triggering. The bushings on the keybad feel good, but a keyboard tech is needed to bring the unit up to 100%. It is, as demonstrated in the video, perfectly playable over MIDI."

Arc Spectral Filter

Published on Jul 24, 2017 stretta

"This a demo of an FFT filter device I made for Ableton Live and the monome arc. Really satisfying how musical it is. The amplitudes of the FFT are determined by a 2D table which can be rotated. The lookup and rotation can be fed by two LFOs. You can import your own tables for an infinite variety of filter responses. The source audio is Stretta Cloud - just a pedal tone of detuned sawtooths."

Counterspin

Published on Nov 27, 2016

"Multi-tracked Eurorack modular with Monome and OB6.

This is a composition that I first started last year, based on two Max patches: Electric Dharma Wheels and Polygome. I have reimagined that piece and recorded several different parts on a couple eurorack systems (I have access to one at work and a system at home) and on a DSI OB6…and also on my little travel Eurorack when I was at my parent’s home for Thanksgiving. :)

The Max patch Electric Dharma Wheels is programmed to fire off a note every time a wheel on the Arc4 crosses 12 O’clock. Additionally, you can define multiple notes and give each one a probability. The patch is playing four voices on the eurorack (Cwejman, Cloud Generator, Braids, and Modcan Triple Osc). You hear this as the ambient ‘tone’ that starts the track and then comes in and out throughout. The whole thing goes through a Cwejman MMF2 and Intellijel Rainmaker.

I did two percussion patches. The first one is based on MI Grids in Euclidean mode. It plays a combo of some percussion modules and also some noise-based synth voices…like a BLD, and an Audio Damage Neuron. The second patch is from a Circadian Rhythms, also playing a mix of drum modules and noise sources. There was a Jomox Modbase in there as well. Always such a SOLID low end!

Now we come to the real meat of the meal. Polygome is another clever Max patch by Stretta. I programmed a few arpeggiation patterns. Monome Grids then plays these patterns, starting on whatever note you select, so you can get some fun poly-rhythms and harmonic things going on. I set up a dumby soft synth and recorded a one-take improvisation that I captured as midi.

I then spit that midi track out to the trusty OB6, and recorded a take with all the generated notes firing, as is. Sometimes there are 4 or 5 notes playing at a time.

Then I divided that dense midi track into two mono tracks. A lead and a bass.

The lead is played by an Atlantis through the Rainmaker. It comes in at :55.

The bass also comes in at :55, and is the Atlantis again, but with a Dixie II for more of a dual-oscillator ‘Moog’ sound.

I did a fair amount of editing of the percussion tracks (including the use of Audio Damage Replicant doing some randomizing), but other than that, not much was done effects wise in the box. So 98% of what your hearing is just as things came off the synths."

"This is a Wiard 300 series Waveform City module. The WFC combines a classic multi waveform analog oscillator with a non-linear digital wave table generator. If you're looking at this auction, you most likely know what It does. This module is out of production. Module is in very nice condition and functions perfectly. Comes with original factory ROM. Buy it now and I will include the Stretta ROMs!"

Monome Meets Modular

Monome Meets Modular from DUDADIUS on Vimeo.

"The Arc4 is playing a Max patch from Stretta called Electric Dharma Wheels. Basically an FM synth that gets played by the four wheels, with notes you define. Different notes for clockwise and counter-clockwise, with presets (I switch to a higher register set of notes towards the end). This is going through the essential Valhalla DSP Shimmer reverb.

The Grid128 is playing the Max patch called Parc, from Tehn. It has four step sequencer rows, but you can define a range of notes for each step and it selects from those at random. It also gives you some other multi-trigger/division options for each step and other cool variations.

Those four rows are going through Ableton Live, via Expert Sleepers stuff, to four straight-ahead modular voices. The first being a Macbeth Dual Oscillator and Backend Filter. Second voice is a Cwejman VCO-2RM and MMF6 (with a little additional FM from an RG6). Third is a Rubicon with some pulse width mod, going into a Dr. Octature. Then lastly, is the Atlantis, just doing it’s Atlantis-y thing.

The simple drum loop is a clip within Ableton. Just played it all down live through the Intellijel Dubmix with a little Modcan Dual Delay."

Audio Damage Dub Jr. demo

Published on Sep 21, 2013 stretta·78 videos

"A real time demo attempting to show some of the range of the Dub Jr.

This patch looks more complicated than it actually is. Most of the patch is dormant. You're hearing the direct output of the Dub Jr.The source Ostinato is simply an oscillator modulated by a filter. The Dub Jr. is modulated by two identical sources consisting of an LFO into a S&H, which is triggered by a Trigger Riot.

I originally shot this directly framing the Dub Jr, but the video was nonsensical when I was directing my focus on the modulation sources."

MMF Monome Beap 23032013

Published on Mar 23, 2013 stretta·72 videos

"I spent this week 'modularizing' monome apps to work with Beap. Friday night, my new Make Noise MMF arrives. I'm a bit of a low pass gate snob, so I was pretty excited to plug it in. In this video, the MMG is pretty much the only thing you're hearing. I'm modulating the MMG with four sources, three of them sequences driven by the monome. There are five sequencers in all, and there is a monome 64 switching among them. The other two sequencers are modulating pitch and FM index of a two operator FM pair, using the FM osc in Beap. This is sent directly to the MMG.

At one point I throw in a post-MMG VCA because I had that patched in to experiment with ring clamping, but I don't use it for long.

Beap can be downloaded at my github.

Traveling Through Grain Space

Traveling Through Grain Space from bar|none on Vimeo.

Trying to use the soundplane for something experimental which is basically a surface for traveling through a single long sample, selecting cool points and then being able to play those grains pitch-wise but with the ability to travel as well using the continuous surface.

At points if it gets disorienting, it's like trying to hone in on a radio signal using coarse and fine tuning to discover something.

Soundplane is also responding to pressure as well a x position and relative to where you first touched a pitch. I don't have y connected but I could. Pressure controls volume envelope.

arc|tangent is a new monome arc app I am working on for high resolution control of anything in a generic sense with a lot of options for routing on the fly. Resolutions are variable from highly quantized to pretty much unlimited resolution if you are willing to spin the dial enough times. Visual feedback on the arc helps you understand what is happening. This allows for very high resolution control of scrubbing through a large sample in coarse or fine increments and control of many other parameters at high or low resolution.

The sound source is Monolake - Granulator. I am just controlling it in an unusual way and with finer control than you can do with the M4L patch controls alone.

The sample is a Stretta sample of a bunch of raw takes from a modular session of his. It is totally raw unedited material.

This was a very first rough test. There are so many tweaks you can make to make the control more musical. This is very exciting and fun. Different material yields totally different results and you can approach it in many ways.
