5U - FM Drone

video by Precarious333 Music

"Testing out some modules (outside the case). Patch is an ElectroSmith VCO with linear FM from Q106A sine which is sequenced by a SympleSEQ. Saw out from ElectroSmith to Barton BMC034 Switched Resistor VCF (built by Lower West Side Studio) running 2 low pass filters in series. Barton BMC034 is modulated by Encore Universal Event Generator running through the inverter on Q155 with inversion modulated by an audio frequency signal from SSL 1710 5-PULSER which is processing the same Q106A FM-ing the ElectroSmith VCO, introducing a pitch heard as the accented notes. The inverter output is then fed to the Curver section of Q155 modulated by a second Encore UEG. Simple, right? Ha-ha!

Q155 Curver is a really great module. Works great to add uniqueness to modulation signals and audio alike. I'm sure I'll find a place for it in every patch.

A minute into the video I introduce an inverted copy of the sequence controlling Q106A into the Clock input on the Barton BMC034. This is an experimental input on a very strange filter producing unexpected results. In this instance we get a sweet spot that produces truncated versions of the sequence because the filter freaks out creating dead zones. I like that kind of thing. \ (•◡•) /

Things fall into chaos when I exponentially FM the ElectroSmith VCO by another VCO running a different sequence which degenerates into the noise at the end.

Nathan Wilmarth: Voltage Controlled Joy

video upload by synthesizersdotcom

"Experience the Electrifying Sound of Nathan Wilmarth's "Voltage Controlled Joy" – Winner of The DotCompetition 2023! 🎹🎶

Immerse yourself in the enthralling world of synthesizers as we present to you Nathan Wilmarth's award-winning performance of "Voltage Controlled Joy." This vibrant and innovative composition triumphed over all the other entries in the prestigious DotCompetition 2023, hosted by Synthesizers.com.
Nathan's impressive mastery of Synthesizers.com modules manifests itself in this captivating piece, featuring an eclectic blend of electronic sounds and dynamic beats to deliver a truly mesmerizing auditory experience. 🎧🎚️

Dive deep into the intricacies of this multifaceted composition as we unravel how Nathan meticulously designed the enchanting soundscape:
Driven by gates from the Q173, a drum loop breathes life into "Voltage Controlled Joy." The hi-hat, snare, and kick are jointly sculpted with a combination of Q173, Q110, Q107, Q157, Q156, Q112, Q109, Q108 and Q124 modules.

The hypnotic bass line stems from the Q169 #1 oscillator and employs the internal EG, further enhanced by the Q107A and Q158 modules.
The lead/solo playing features the Q169 #2 oscillator with PWM from the internal LFO and runs through a Q150A and Q158, controlled by a Q179.
An intricate arpeggio segment emanates from the Q175A module, while the Q174 Ch.2 manipulates the pitch to create a harmonious blend of polyphonic chords.

The Q960 sequence and its ratcheting effect are facilitated by a standard synth patch and a selection of modules, including the Q106, Q150A, Q109A, Q108, Q128, Q125, and Q963.

In addition, the Q119A plays a vital role in controlling the patch’s captivating progression.

Experience the magic of "Voltage Controlled Joy" and see why it emerged victorious at The DotCompetition 2023. Be sure to shop for Synthesizers.com modules to create your own show-stopping tunes!"

Introducing the Synthesizer.com Q190 Triple Tuner

video upload by synthesizersdotcom

"The Q190 tuner module allows you to keep a watchful eye on the frequencies up to 3 oscillators are producing. Frequencies from all analog oscillators will drift slightly as a result of normal changes in internal cabinet temperature. Now it's easier than ever to ensure your oscillators are doing exactly what you want them to do. Whether you are onstage or in the studio the Q190 is a must have for those patches that need precision from an oscillator or oscillator bank."

New Synthesizers.com Q179 Envelope++

via synthesizers.com

"The Q179 Envelope++ module is a full-featured voltage-controlled envelope generator with many unique features including bizarre curves, a VCA and looping. Special modes offer dual-envelopes and 4-step sequencing. The Q179 can also be used as an LFO, gate divider, gate delay, arpeggiator, quantizer, random source, and more.

The envelope mode provides voltage-control of Attack, Decay, Release phases along with amplitude. Special features include control of initial Delay and Attack peak holding, along with linear, exponential and log curves.

Voltage control of slopes and amplitude is designed specifically to make using velocity signals from a keyboard intuitive and musically expressive. Press a key fast to produce a faster attack and higher amplitude. Use off-velocity from the Q174 MIDI Interface to control the release time according to how fast you release a key. The Q179 Envelope++ is made for musicians and their music.

Positive and inverted outputs makes it easy to send the output to a VCA and VCF without using a multiple and the THRU makes daisy-chaining simple. A multi-colored LED provides indication of the current state.
Envelope looping occurs automatically when a gate plug is not inserted, or controlled by a gate in GL mode (Gated Looping). When looping, outputs can be used as a multi-segment LFO with VC of speed, slopes and amplitude, and a variable pulse-width is available at the THRU output.

The dual-envelope mode creates an attack/sustain/decay envelope at the +OUTPUT and a separate delay/attack/hold/decay envelope at the -OUTPUT. These envelopes can loop automatically or by gate control. The THRU output operates as a voltage-controlled gate delay and gate extender.

The Q179 Envelope++ also offers a 4-step sequencer mode, complete with an internal clock and quantized outputs. Forward, up/down and random sequences are available. Works great as a keyboard arpeggiator, or stack multiple modules for longer sequences.

$256.00 USD - PJ Wrote: A fancy EG and dual EGs and a sequencer in one package? With a quantizer and gate delay too? Ummm, I'll take 4!"
