New Synth Gear and Makers in January 2015

After this year's massive New Years post, I thought it might be interesting to see how many new makers and new gear announcements we received in a single month.

This may or may not become a monthly theme on the site depending on interest.  If you think it's worth while, leave a comment.

Synthrotek MST VCO Now Available!

You've seen the videos first here and here. The Synthrotek MST VCO based on George Mattson's Mattson Mini Modular VCO design is now available here. This completes the Synthrotek MST eurorack line of modules and offers a complete system. Previously a George Mattson system was only available in the proprietary Mattson Mini Modular format along with a few individual eurorack modules from Division-6.

The new MST VCO is available in complete, kit, and PCB/Panel form.

Here's what Synthrotek has to say about the release:

The VCO was the last of the modules that are essential to this complete voice. Synthrotek MST MIDI to CV Expander with Keyboard

The MST MIDI to CV Expander module is a tiny but extremely powerful expansion module for the MST MIDI to CV Converter. The Expander includes an arpeggiator and allows you to have additional CV, gate, velocity, modulation and aftertouch outputs on a separate MIDI channel. You can also set it to the same MIDI channel as the Converter and use one of the three note priority selections, which will allow you to do duophony/pseudo-polyphony. You can daisy-chain Expanders together to add even more channels.

The Expander really shines when it is used with a DAW. Multiple Expanders can be set to different MIDI channels in any sequencer (like Ableton for example), making live performance with your Eurorack simple.

The Expander connects to the MIDI to CV Converter using an I2C cable (included).

The ’07 Buffered Multiple Module is the original buffered mult. designed and invented by George Mattson in 2007.

The MST ‘07 Buffered Multiple is a PRECISION buffered mult that is perfect for for 1V/O CV sources. A signal plugged into Input 1 will be available from all 14 outputs. Break the chain by adding a second signal into input 2; signal 1 comes out 4 outputs and signal 2 is available at the remaining 10. Plug in as many as 4 inputs, each split 3 or 4 times. What you put in you GET OUT!

"This is a quick, rough demo of our new MST MIDI-to-CV Module and some of it's functions. We show how you can send MIDI information from your DAW (in this case, Ableton Live) and use the MIDI to CV convertor of our module to control a Eurorack system. We also demonstrate sending information back the other way to your DAW; for example, using an LFO in your Eurorack setup to send a Square Wave out to the MST MIDI-to-CV module, which can then be used to change the tempo of your DAW. We also show how you can use the MST MIDI-to-CV module on other gear, like the Korg Volca Sample."

"The MST Expressor allows you to use expression pedals with your modular, taking a "hands-off" approach to expand your control and creativity. It has two identical powered expression pedal processing units in one handy module, allowing you to do things such as:

- Control volume with your foot
- Attenuate CV or audio if no expression pedal is plugged in
- Add positive or negative voltage with the flick of an ankle:
- Sweep a filter cutoff
- Transpose CV

- Direct audio volume control
