The Bent Festival

"Well folks, the Bent Festival drew to a close last night with a record breaking crowd in attendance here in nyc. A huge thank you to everyone who made this year's festival possible...to all the artists, volunteers, venue staff, and audience members...you were all wonderful and kind and are the reason we keep doing this thing."

Title link takes you to more info and images from the event. Here's a post with a link to the shots for last years' event. Via brian comnes.

Imogen Heap - Just For Now (live at Studio 11 103.1FM)

YouTube via 75dollars. Just saw this on Sonic State. Not directly synth related, so file this one under looping. Apparently she does this all with an Electrix Repeater. If you like this, be sure to see this performance as well. Imogen Heap is absolute magic. I have to thank brian comnes for introducing me to her music back then.

Site Issues On Mac - Should I Cut Posts Down on Main Page?

See this post. I've had another report come in via email on the site being super slow and/or ultimately hanging on Mac, both Safari and Firefox. My stats show approximately 36% of visitors are on Mac. I need to understand how big of a problem this is. If you are on Mac and are not having any problems please post a comment. If are having problems after trying some of the tips in the previous post, please comment.

I currently have three days worth of posts on the main page before the archives. I do this so you have time to catch up on the main page and in case comments are active for a given post. Also on the old version of Blogger there wasn't an "Older Posts" link on the bottom of the page. Now there is. With that along with how much I do post, I'm thinking of cutting down to two days as you can always just click on the "Older Posts" link on the bottom of the page to get to the next day. Let me know what you all think. I can also limit it by number of posts as well. Take a look at my posts over the last three days and let me know what you think would be a good number before you have to click next.

This Week In Synths on CDM

BTW, since we are on a CDM roll, title link takes you to their ever amazing This Week In Synths column. It goes up every Friday like clockwork, and so far has been quite amazing. You can't go wrong with Mexican Wrestling and Donny. I know the author of the column personally. Top notch guy!

COMMONTONES

via SoNiCbRaT:

"I am doing an online collaboration with LDT from Bangkok and Eric Saliege from France... do check it out... we will be using synths and effect processors and some other to make music... basically it's to make one music a day, daily, for the month of May... :)"

Pretty cool. Title link takes you there. The first entry is up and includes, "a toy piano, a contact microphone, sampled on KORG Kaoss Pad III and grained, Roland SH101. Recorded live, except drums added later using Reaktor 5 and layering the toy piano samples, pitching them down and reversing them at parts."

BTW, if you haven't checked out an RSS reader this would be a good opportunity. The COMMONTONES site is a blog on Blogger. With a reader like Bloglines (my favorite), you can subsribe to it and you will get updates in Bloglines as new posts go up. You can subscribe to the sites on my blogroll on the right and any other site with RSS. It's super useful in that you don't have to remember to check back and you don't waste cycles going to the site only to find there's nothing new. With an RSS reader, if there is an update it comes to you. You can then click through and check it out. I currently track 216 feeds this way. Imagine going to 266 sites several times a day to look for updates. Not gonna happen, but with Bloglines I can just bring up one site and see it all.
