"Maria Magdalena" - on Yamaha HE-8

YouTube via organfairy
"After having build an electric glockenspiel, repaired an organ, been on a drum machine sight seeing, done a little girl car joyriding, and posed against a giant sculpture of four white undressed men I think it is time to just do an ordinary organ playing video again!
This time it is the 80's hit "Maria Magdalena" - originally performed by Italian singer Sandra - that I am playing in a multitrack arrangement. There is nothing special about the video this time except for a little trick in the beginning - I tried but I couldn't move my finger that fast.....

The instruments I used was Yamaha HE-8 organ, Roland CR-1000 drum machine, and Roland JX-8P synthesizer."

AudioMulch 2.0 live-patching screencast audio software

YouTube via AudioMulch
"This live patching demonstration was recorded for the launch of AudioMulch 2.0, June 5, 2009. An AudioMulch 2.0 patch is built from scratch, starting with a single guitar sample.

This is what we came up with the night before version 2.0 release but we'd love to see some AudioMulch users create and upload their own live-patching videos.

AudioMulch 2.0 is available at:
audiomulch.com

Thanks to Tobias Hengeveld for kindly giving permission to use a guitar loop sampled from his new album."

Yamaha FS1R

Click the image for the full size shot. Note the software editor. Trying to edit the FS1R via the unit itself is like trying to paint a portrait through a keyhole. The little snapshots in the image are the FM algorithms. The tiny boxes in each "graph" represents how each operator or oscillator modulates the other via the outlined signal path.

"This is the rackmountable version of the vintage analog matrix 6 synthesizer made in 1985. This is the original version (not the later remake. matrix 1000) made by Oberheim.

The matrix line of synthesizers were a step ahead of most other polyphonic synthesizers of the era due to the modulation matrix which enabled you to modulate almost any parameter by another parameter or source. This makes for very unique and complicated sounds.

The matrix 6r has a very brassy oberheim sound. Typical of the VCF CEM filters that it uses.
It can do almost any type of polyphonic sound you would ever need, ie leads basses pads and there are literally 1000s of patches available for you to try out.
I definitely say it has a strong presence. Whilst the oscillators are DCO's and don't noticeably drift, detuning and pulse width modulation on this synth are huge. It has some of the best strings, pads and brass sounds I have heard. I own a jupiter 8 and it is a noble competitor. It's no wonder that it has many patches named after the great synths CS-80, Prophet 5.. etc.

I've heard a lot of complaints that the matrix 6r is hard to edit etc. I personally used mine through software editors. It is quite easy to set midi controllers to adjust the filter cut off, resonance and envelope settings in real time without any lag or delay."

MiniMoogseum at the Orange Peel

"The late, great Bob Moog left a legacy that continues to reverberate in the sounds of thousands of musicians and bands. Now the Orange Peel is playing host to an interactive display that enshrines Moog’s work in a 'MiniMoogseum' — a predecessor to a planned full-fledged museum of all things Moog."
