"New public beta operating system for Waldorf Q+

The new firmware version 3a61 addresses two issues found on some Waldorf Q+ synthesizers:

1.) Filter select LED
The Phoenix Edition of Q+ has a bug right on the front panel: The printing of the Filter select LED for Filter 1 and 2 are accidentally swapped - to compensate this, enable the new global parameter "Filter LED swap" and the LEDs show the proper Filter - just as if we never had made this stupid mistake in the first place.

2.) Sporadic audio channel mismatch
This is one of the most evil bugs we ever faced, as it occurs only rarely, usually after some hours of operation. The audible symptoms are missing notes, like every 2nd or 4th keystroke, wrong effects or panorama setting for alternating notes etc. We have reasons to believe that this new firmware solves this, but as this malfunction is not reproducible and occurrence is unpredictable, we cannot be absolutely sure. This is why we release it as a public beta, as we do not want to promise a fix that we only assume could be fixed. We kindly ask you to test this new firmware on your Q+ and report both if it works as intended or not. Please send feedback to bugs(thatthing)waldorfmusic.de.

"Yay! It looks like my JP-8 is finally fixed. I bought it last summer and it's been in and out of the shop since then. OK, so I've got the JP-8 in DUAL mode with the same sound for both upper & lower with some slight differences and played with its built-in arpeggiator in RANDOM mode (a la Duran Duran). Next, I have the Jupiter running into the Fantom's external input sharing the MFX with the Infinate Phaser patch which I use to noodle around with along with the D Beam. I also tweak the JP-8's filter using an EV-5 pedal."

This handheld film film shows me being derailed by the weirdness of the bi-n-tic filter...how does it work ? I have no idea and quite honestly...I dont really feel I need to know. Its fun, its quirky and its cool.

This film was recorded at Roth Händle studios in Stockholm. This is where I spend my days recording bands, artists and with a bit of luck albums.
