Selmer Clavioline

via this auction

The Clavioline was the basis for the Vox / Jennings Univox. Invented in 1947 it is one of the very first electronic instruments, a monophonic synthesizer based on all-valve circuitry. A portable unit with its own valve amplifier and 10" speaker, it is also possible to use this mounted underneath a piano keyboard. The Clavioline is capable of some really out-there sounds. Famously used on "Telstar" by The Tornados (Joe Meek), it was also Sun Ra's signature instrument."

MOOG 1130 DRUM CONTROLLER

via this auction

Don't miss the videos below.

"It was most certainly used by TANGERINE DREAM, TOMITA and CARL PALMER(TOCCATA from BRAIN SALAD SURGERY) [Update: a reliable source states Carl Palmer did not use a Moog 1130 for Brain Salad). If you are a drummer, I don't see how you could not want this if you are into ANALOG SYNTHESIS of any sort. Also, I am totally shocked that MOOG has not developed something new based off of this accessory.

MOOG 1130 DRUM CONTROLLER is an accessory item that works with the MOOG MODULAR, MOOG MINIMOOG, MOOG MICROMOOG, etc. It is quite dynamic in performance as well as in ANALOG SYNTHESIS. It has a true TOM DRUM HEAD atop and you can play it with your hands or drumsticks--VERY TACTILE.

It has two CONTROL FUNCTIONS marked "SCALE" and "SENSITIVITY" and all other functions are controlled via your Analog Synthesizer.

The CONTROLLER has a standard drum attachment for mounting on a DRUM STAND. By far this is way more flexible and spectacular than the SYNARE--and I own a SYNARE.

As you can read from the photograph, MOOG 1130 DRUM CONTROLLER is extremely easy to set-up and use. The EXTENSION CABLE allows for ease of set-up for the MINIMOOG or compatible ANALOG SYNTHESIZER. It can be modded for the new MINIMOOG, but I just did not take the time to do so.

Here [below] are two Youtube links showing two feature performances of the DRUM CONTROLLER: please note that the controller is not limited to just beeps and buzzes and is quite capable of considerable musical tones, etc."

Evolution of a Synthwerks Module

Evolution of a Synthwerks Module Part 1 of 2

"Steve Turnidge takes us through the design, evolution and realization of the Synthwerks FSR-4 synthesizer performance module."

Synthwerks will be presenting at next Wednesday's PNW Modular Synth Manufacturer's event

Evolution of a Synthwerks Module Part 2 of 2

"Watch as the Synthwerks team hooks up the very first FSR-4 for the very first time. Will it work?"
Be sure to check out the Synthwerks interview on electronicmusic.com. via that interview:
"Synthwerks will strive to make a variety of modules but we are really focussing on performance modules. Modules that the player interacts with to control the rest of their rig.

The first set of modules in production include a module based on FSR (Force Sensing Resistor) technology and will produce control voltages and gates based on the pressure applied to 4 pads on the front panel. There also will be two different manual gate modules using light touch arcade style pushbuttons. Synthwerks will also be producing utility modules such as our 5V supply modules that will provide not only a 5 volt source to the bus, but offer a patch cord checker and either a gooseneck LED light or access to the 5V source to frontpanel jacks.

We have many designs in the queue and there often will be various versions of the same modules so the user can pick one that really fills the hole they see in their system. That is what Synthwerks is all about - looking at the market, seeing what holes are there and filling them. You will probably not see any standard, vanilla modules from us - no VCOs, Ring Modulators, LPFs and the like. There are plenty of those to choose from other companies."

Note Steve Turnidge is the Chair of the Pacific Northwest Division of AES. James Husted will be presenting at next Wednesday's PNW Modular Synth Manufacturer's event.

Roland TR 606 + Bliptronic 5000

YouTube via cosmohelectrastudio
"tr 606 trigerring the Bliptronic 5000.
You can't trigger the notes of the Bliptronic, only the start of its sequence, so you have to run the TR at the same speed of ones of the BPM presets of the Bliptronic, or play with the differences of speeds !

At the beginning of the video, I play at 120 BPM (TR 606 is slave of the midi clock of the RX 5 via the KMS 30 midi to din sync 24 converter), after I let the 606 at 120 BPM and change the speed of the bliptronic."

Update:

TR 606 + TR 808 + Bliptronic 5000 + Boss SYB 3 + SH 2000

"A kind of pop song I will record soon."
