CR78 Essential 80s Synthpop part 1 (Juno Synths, Electribe SX)

YouTube via harlemnightsmusic

"Tributing the early 80s classics again, this time a softer side, based on the Roland CR78 drummachine, which was used in many of my all time favourite New Wave tracks. Drum sounds were sampled and patterns rebuilt in the Korg Electribe ESX, with additional Linndrum sounds where in the original tracks acoustic drumkits were added.

All synth and bass sounds are from my Roland Juno 106 (1984) and Juno 60 (1982) synths, trying to emulate the Prophets and other synths used in the original tracks. Additional fx by Boss SE50.

All recreated by ear. None of the original tracks were sampled.

- Daryl Hall & John Oates - I can't go for that
- Gary Numan - Remind me to Smile
- Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) - Enola Gay
- Soft Cell - Tainted Love
- Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight
- Roxy Music - Jealous Guy
- Blondie - Atomic

Enjoy

"Tristan Perich: Interval Studies
audio art exhibition in Copenhagen
closing this Sunday

Mikrogalleriet's solo exhibition for New York-based composer and artist Tristan Perich ends this Sunday in Copenhagen. His new body of work, Interval Studies, is a formal look at musical intervals as a dense continuum of microtonal pitch, expressed en masse as discrete 1-bit frequencies distributed across hundreds of individual speakers. Each speaker, emitting a single, primitive 1-bit tone, becomes a microscopic voice in the total cluster, substituting individual pitch for larger sonic masses.

First Play With Roland TR-909

YouTube via snolan1990
"So I got my 909 last week and this is my first proper play with it. There are alot of videos on Youtube that show the TR-909 being used in an Acid House or Techno context but not many showing it being used for the french disco sound that it is perhaps best known for so I thougt I would put a little sample based jam to show what it's capable of.

For those interested in the hardware the SP-808 is master clock and playing all the samples, The 727 is adding the latin sounds the 707 a couple of other sounds and the 909 in charge of the majority of the drums. Everything is in track play and I'm twiddling the Cutoff & Resonance on the filter."

Ableton Tutorial: Get to know your Synths using Synth Chains

Ableton Tutorial: Get to know your Synths using Synth Chains from Jason Timothy on Vimeo.

"MusicSoftwareTraining.com twitter.com/AbletonVids This is an approach to learning more about the capabilities of the Synths you have at your disposal. There is nothing worse than having too many choices and not knowing which synth will create the sound you want the best. By using Synth Chains, you have a solution. Also great for easy access to your favorite presets."
