Bob Moog Foundation Auction: Mini Moog Felt Sculpture

via this auction

"This auction is for a piece by Australian artist Seja Vogel.

Piece Description: Small Mini Moog Synth sculpture, handcrafted from felt.

Medium: Felt

Recently referred to as the “synth whisperer” by Mess and Noise magazine, Australian Seja Vogel is probably better known as a musician than anything else. However her recent solo album features a cover of handmade felt synthesizers created by Vogel. “I started making little felt instruments a couple of years ago, just as presents for friends. I always try to get them as accurate as I can to the real ones - to get every key, every button and every slider to match.” She is the only artist represented in the auction who does not call Asheville home. Her donation of a felt synth to the foundation was the inspiration for the art auction.

You can see more of Seja's work online at: www.etsy.com/shop/pulsewidth"

Michelle Moog-Koussa on EM

Michelle Moog-Koussa recently wrote an article on EM's 25th anniversary. Her father, Bob Moog, and the Bob Moog Foundation are of course mentioned. The following is a brief excerpt.

"At the time that EM came into being in 1975, electronic music may have been in its toddler stages, but Bob had already been coaxing sound from electricity for more than 20 years. At age 14, he began building Theremins with his father. Five years later, he wrote his first article, titled 'The Theremin,' which was published in the January 1954 issue of Radio and Television News. A demand for Theremin parts and kits followed, and R.A. Moog was founded in the basement of Bob’s parent’s house. He was 19 years old."

Launchpad basics tutorial - The DSP Project

YouTube via TheDSPproject — May 20, 2010 — "I have just received a Launchpad from the good people at Novation and I am really enjoying it so far. I have already done a first impressions review comparing the Launchpad vs APC40 so I thought a tutorial might be more interesting. So in this episode I am going to cover the basics of how the different modes work. Comment if you want to see more Launchpad tutorials and I might dig in deeper!

More Info on the Ruin & Wesen KPR-77 Ultimate Mods Series: Bass Drum

"This week, Ruin brings you the beginning of a series of blogs about modding the Korg KPR-77 into a badass TR-606/808 killer.

When I first came into contact with this drum machine, I noticed several things about it that were severely lacking. First of which being the bass drum. When I heard that damn bass drum, I thought of someone punching a cardboard box. That thing has too short of decay, and the pitch is too high for my taste. On top of that, there is not much punch to the drum. All of this adds up to a severely anorexic kick drum. When half your time with a song is spent tweaking the sounds, this kick drum can really get you down.

This is probably the hardest set of mods to perform on the KPR-77 in this series, but as you will see, it is still extremely easy to perform." You'll find more details on the Ruin & Wesen blog here.

1970'S ROLAND SH-7 SYNTHESIZER

via this auction
"KRAZY RARE CHEAP. This unit was rescued from the metal crushers here in Chicago. When I got it the cord was cut so I assumed the unit was toast. I hooked up a cord and ITS ALIVE!! Its dusty and funky but I was able to make some really kool and crazy sound with this unit as it is. These things must be built like tanks!!"
