Yumi, the violin simulator

via hemicube on the Jasuto forum

"Meet Yumi, the violin simulator!

It's a silly name (I like those obviously) meaning 'bow' in Japanese...

So this is sorta the first thing that's been built with the new Jasuto Studio framework, the sound quality is amazing and absolutely no samples are used. It's using a fairly novel approach to achieve synthesis in realtime without aliasing or any sort of digital stepping, and yes it sounds like a true violin or even a cello.

I'm going to make a Youtube video demonstrating the sound quality next...

Also I'm not sure if that's the final UI or not, this app is more about functionality and sound quality. So yeah, I don't wanna give too many details but hopefully in a week or so it'll be out (iPad initially)!

"For the final time, for those into CMOS/Lunetta etc, the final contents are;

2 x 4015 giving 4 x 4 bit shift registers
1 x 4040 divider
1 x 40106 providing 6 x Oscs (these are pretty wide range and go from audio rates down to really low freq)
1x 4070 giving 4 x XOR
1x 4070 set up as an XOR chain
1 x 4093 giving 4 x Gateable oscs
3 x AREGVCA (Attack Release Envelope generator and Voltage controlled Amplifier)
1 x 4069 giving 2 x triangle LFO
1 x 4046 as VCO
1 x 4011 Pseudo ring modulator
1 x passive LP filter with LDR control
2 x 3 input passive mixer
4 input resistance mixer with diode summing

BlowPipes - Scottish Highland Bagpipes for the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad

YouTube via tradlessons | February 11, 2011 |

"BlowPipes is the best-sounding and easiest-to-play set of mouth-blown Scottish Highland Bagpipes available for the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad.

The drone and chanter sounds are provided by ePipes in Glasgow, Scotland, and are high quality per-note studio recordings of a world-class set of Great Highland Bagpipes.

Play a melody on the chanter by touching the holes while blowing into the microphone on your device or wired headset.

Touch the drone puck image to switch the drones on and off.

Touch the 'i' icon at the bottom center to bring up the settings page. Here you can adjust the blowing sensitivity as well as the balance between the drones and chanter.

You may also select between Top (iPod Touch 4G, iPad) or Bottom (iPhone) microphone location for your device.

No microphone? No problem! You can also play the chanter without blowing, just set the microphone location selector on the settings page to Off. Play the notes by just touching the chanter holes. In this mode, once you touch a hole, the chanter plays continuously just like a real Scottish Highland chanter. To stop the chanter playing, start and stop the drones.

The Flip switch on the settings page toggles between high/low and low/high note order on the chanter.

On the settings page, touch the ePipes logo to visit their website, or touch the TradLessons logo to learn more about my other music apps."

Intellijel μscale - quantized symmetry

Intellijel μscale - quantized symmetry from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"The μscale module is a cv quantizer and musical interval generator. In this simple patch I am using four VCO's. Cwejman VCO-2RM, VM-1,harvestman piston honda, and hertz donut. Everything is being CV sequenced by the output of the μscale. Clocked from one mini ELF LFO to a Doepfer 160, 161 then out to a-151 quad sequential switch controlling the MakeNoise Brains, and two pressure points doing long slow sequences back into the CV and Shift input on the Intellijel μscale. The drums are coming from the cwejman BLD and NS-04 for the white noise snare, and high hats. Effects used TipTop Z5000, Z-DSP, and Doepfer A-187

Note: this patch is completely modular, no drum machines or computers used here:)"
