doubledekka slider demo

YouTube Uploaded by sduck409 on May 16, 2011

"A quickly made sloppy video that was made by request - just to show off the sliders on the DoubleDekka VCO and their effect on the sound. I managed to figure out how to do picture in picture in final cut express for this, but still haven't figured out lots of other things, so it's pretty basic. The shots of my scope were made with my flip camera, which was hanging in a hastily arranged contraption, so forgive the wobbliness at the beginning. And my 21$ scope either isn't very good at this sort of thing, or I don't really know how to use it right, or both, so again, forgive the way the waveforms jump around. The sound was recorded direct into the computer, so at least it's done fairly well."

Modified Toys Are Us

The Modified Toy Orchestra are exactly as they're described: A group that uses modified toys as musical instruments. Led by Brian Duffy, the British band taps the musical potential hidden in discarded toys, producing varying and novel electronic soundscapes.

The Orchestra's motif is to use toys that have been discarded and to never pay more than one pound for it. The band boasts a repository of old toys including a 30-year-old Touch & Tell and a rare Hula Barbie. Before delving full-time into toys, Duffy worked as a sound artist producing music for bands and installations, and even created a device that converts starlight into music.

Prior to their Asian premiere in Hong Kong, the band was invited to host a series of workshops at the Polytechnic University to reveal the secrets behind toy modification."

Lars at the Waldorf Wave

via Till "Qwave" Kopper in the comments of this post.

Update via Qwave in the comments: "The keyboard above the WAVE is an Emu Emax II with 3 MB (!!!) Ram and a removable hard disk on top of it. The wooden housing that you see on the upper left of the picture is my good old Moog Prodigy. My first own real synth."

"All synth sounds come from JX3P and Juno except the bass in the middle, that's Novation K-Station. Some 707 drums." JX-3P is producing the trumpet like sound.

"nothing but processed recordings (no instruments and synthesis involved) and the main drone is stereo filtering with two Moog MF-101 Lowpass filters creating some cool resonance and panning effects."

"Please visit http://www.myspace.com/kotomaiola or http://www.youtube.com/user/kotoxx to know more about Koto

This is a completed Version of Jabdah by a fan (user Pelorcitos) with images of Star Wars.

Koto is an Italian synth pop group that originally consisted of Anfrando Maiola and Stefano Cundari, later with Michiel van der Kuy too. Their most popular songs were "Visitors", "Dragon's Legend", "Chinese Revenge" and "Jabdah", released in 1983-1988. Koto is often associated with a genre of music called Spacesynth, a music style streamed from Space Disco. Unfortunately, it has been reported that Stefano Cundari died some time between 1991 and 1992 from a brain tumor."

"Sounds made with Metasonix Phattytron:
ibreathfire.mp3
holedriller.mp3"

Also see the Metasonix TS-22 Pentode Filterbank Serial Number 2.

On the difference between the two: "The phattytron was a full synth voice with MIDI containing the ideas and circuits that later went on to become the Wretch Machine. The TS-22 is just a badass Filterbank! :)"
