Binary Music ARP Odyssey For Kontakt 4

ARP Odyssey For Kontakt 4 by BinaryMusic

www.binarymusic.co.uk
"Consisting of 101 presets made up of approximately 1,400 individual samples, the ARP Odyssey library is an incredibly detailed recreation of a classic vintage synthesizer.

The patches cover a wide range of sounds including bass, leads, pads, percussion and effects, all with the unique Odyssey character. There's also a selection of sounds from the original ARP Odyssey patch book and a set of sounds that were sampled with different filter settings mapped to velocity.

The History
There were three main versions of the Odyssey. The first white-faced models were manufactured from 1972, then the black and gold face from 1974.
The model that we've sampled is a black and orange faced 2821 from about 1979. This has the advantage of more stable oscillators - though nothing like the stability that we take for granted in modern gear. The Odyssey has attracted an eclectic mix of players: Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, George Duke, Portishead, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Ultravox, Gary Numan and Abba!

The Process
Throughout the entire sampling process, the aim has been to be faithful to the sound at source. No filtering or effects processing has been applied within Kontakt. Where there is filter/frequency modulation, it has been created on the Odyssey and then recorded in samples long enough to retain the movement. There's also a selection of
'Multi VCF' patches, where different filter cutoff settings have been sampled and mapped to different velocities."

"Behind the scenes I have still been concentrating on the MacBeth Micromac desktop analogue synthesizer! Here is a picture of the casing that I have just received from a German metalwork company that will ultimately be the the Micromac enclosure. I have place a PCB layout diagram (partially complete) on the top surface to guage positioning..."

sonaur: an ambient toy [for Android]

"I wanted to create an app that lay somewhere between an ecosystem and a musical instrument. The hope is that sonaur requires less attention both, and still provides a reasonable amount of intrigue.

Sonaur contains three distinct lifeforms. You can interact with them individually, or together; creating new sounds and visual patterns for your enjoyment."

"Extended tutorial looking at how to sync LFOs to the mix BPM.
First example is a simple sync filter sweep. Second more complex example is how to mix and offset LFOs to make syncopated modulations.
Finally, a quick look at the Articulation parameter and how to misuse the Chords parameter to get some 80's style synth pop cheese."
