Buchla 223e Ring Jam

YouTube Uploaded by djangosfire on Jan 14, 2012

"Just a little Buchla Jam - Main VCO is the 258v. The 223e is used as an Arpeggiator and as a transposing keyboard...... also covering some manual mixing duties too. Heavy CV processing via the 256e this time around . . . it was needed to mix/route control signals between the 291e & 292e used in series. Panning via 292e + 281e AND the 206e as well."

Holst Mars on Sound Lab Mark II and ULTIMATE

Ray Wilson is the man behind Music From Outer Space aka MFOS. This is one of his videos.

"This is multi-track MIDI driving MIDI to CV which drives the Sound Lab Mark II and the Sound Lab ULTIMATE. All MIDI was broken down to mono tracks and each played through the MIDI to CV convertor. I set each patch to what I thought sounded good in the position and I think in the end it seems to work. I tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and... I'll stop there. ALL sounds are purely from the MIDI driven synths. Reverb was applied during mix down. I'll stop there. I used SONAR Producer to mix down the tracks (well over 60 stereo) and I think that along with the video it's decently cool. I forgot to mention that I designed and built the synthesizers. If you want to build one go to musicfromouterspace with a dot and then the obligatory com for plans and PC boards.

Remember it's only a hobby but making music with synths is what got me into it so very long ago. Gustav Holst has fired my imagination since I first heard "The Planets". If you haven't heard it by a symphony you don't know what you're missing. I really hope you think of this as true "Music From Outer Space"

Cheers All"

A modified speak and math is also playing along in the background"

"In early British electronic music history, FC Judd is not the only overlooked and little discussed composer working in the late 1950s and 60s – in fact he is one of a number now largely forgotten. His unacknowledged importance hinges on a wide range of electronic activities – from his compositions, self-built synthesizer and sound visualisation system – to his books, magazine articles, radio broadcasts and lectures to amateur tape recording clubs up and down the country. Fred was the prime mover in disseminating electronic sounds and musique concrete to the general public – not just encouraging them to listen, but moreover to experiment for themselves with tape recorders and tone generators.

Frederick Charles Judd was born in 1914 in Woodford, east London, and like so many youngsters of his generation developed an early and abiding passion for radio. With the outbreak of WW2 he served in the RAF Coastal Command working with highly secret radar equipment, just as electronic music pioneer Tristram Cary was engaged in similar work in the Royal Navy. Both men were later in contact, and used their skilled engineering backgrounds to develop their musical interests through electronics. Fred had no formal musical training though he was competent on guitar and organ, and it appears that the combination of music, radio, tape recording and circuitry inevitably drew him to experimenting with electronic music during the mid-1950s."

Hollow Sun Steampunk MUSIC LABORATORY MACHINES SUITE

via Hollow Sun

"As the popularity of the Music Laboratory Machines continues to grow, many have requested the facility to buy all of them as a bundle so this is just such an opportunity with the advantage of a modest discount on buying them individually.

The bundle includes Oscillosine, Organa, Broken, Interference Generator, TriOsc, Techtron, Shangri La, Novalite, Modular Toolkit and Cognosphere and, as a special bonus, the Dotcom Xmas Special is also thrown in for good measure. A total of eleven unique and intriguing Kontakt 4 instruments. This represents not just great value but provides a massive palette of sounds to be exploited in your music.

Despite their unashamed and bold oddness and eccentricity, the Music Laboratory Machines are suitable for almost any genre of contemporary music and are a sound designer's wet dream with the sonic capabilites they offer. They are also ideal tools for movie, TV, library music and games scorers to bring something different to the table.

Hollow Sun's Music Laboratory Machines represent not just innovative GUI design and sound design possibilities but are also great value for money. This bundle brings all of these instruments into one neat 1.5GB package that'll also save you a few of the Queen's shillings as well....

Which is not to be sniffed at in this day and age!"
