Introducing the Tiptop Audio HATS808 Drum Module

"Introducing the HATS808, part of our new series of drum modules that brings analog percussion into the modular synth world, instantly turning your system into a self-contained music machine.

The HATS808 is the TR-808's real, analog closed and open hi-hat circuits adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and test to sound just like it did back in the 80's. Adapting to modular format has allowed us to add some special features for each voice like independent accent levels, a high-powered gain stage, and a dual-input pulse-shaper. Filter Q and VC-Q knobs were added to the main band-pass filter for additional tuning and to allow you to generate crushed tones and self-oscillation at the knob's max position - all without compromising the signature sound of the TR-808 hig-hats.

The HATS808 sizzling sound is made using six analog square wave oscillators mixed and processed by band-pass filters. This multi-oscillator design is what gives the 808 hi-hat sounds their unique metallic character and makes each HSTS808 sound slightly different from one another. The original 'choke' circuitry that makes it sound so dynamic and tight is fully implemented, just like the original, but can also be disabled if needed by disconnecting the internal connection between the two hats.

Just like the other drums in their series, the HATS807 high-powered output gain stage allows you to further harmonize the sound using distortion and clipping. On each input, we have included a dual pulse-shaper circuit so you can trigger your HATS808 with Trigger/Gate signals from step sequencers, clock dividers or any other pulse/clock sources. This eliminates the need to shape pulses sent to the module and ensures the same stable sound at peak power, regardless of your pulse sour. All these unique features make integrating this legendary sound generator into your modular synth easy, unleashing the power of real analog drums.

For more information please check the HATS808 User Guide." http://www.tiptopaudio.com/ht808.php

JLR

YouTube Uploaded by JohnLRice on Feb 6, 2012

"In a recent video I wasn't using the Moon Modular 568 trigger sequencer so I made a smiley face on it by activating certain switches. (an expensive 'Lite-Brite' toy!) I then realized I could do a pretty accurate representation of my JLR logo in the same way. Then I decided to try to make a patch to see what my logo "sounds like"! ;-) That's what this video is.

A Modcan 53B clock feeds the Moon 554 clock divider (and also the Modcan 59B delay). The first four outputs drive the 568 trigger sequencer and initially the divisors are set to 1, 2, 3 and 4. The 568 is in 4x32 mode and each bank is being used as the clock for one of the 4 banks of the 569 sequencer in 4x8 mode. Initially the 569 banks are operating in "up" mode but about halfway through I switch them all to random. I also switch the clock divisions 2, 3 and 4 to just 1 about 3/4 of the way through.

Thanks for watching!"

Voyager Test Run III

"My third attempt at recording a live noise session with the Moog Voyager. The sequenced notes on the Voyager were midi controlled from the TR-909. I ran the drum machine through the Tube Zipper. The M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 recorded the live audio."

MacBeth Micromac Changes

via Ken MacBeth on Facebook

"Having return back from that NAMM thing- I've made some changes to the micromac- another three controls to the front, and two key jack sockets! A major improvement for me is having the Tuning, Glide and now s eparate Noise Volume control added onto the front. It extends the size of the module minimally- but worth it! To those who wanted external PWM- bot Oscillators 1 and 2 now have this... Also- where originally white noise was selected as an option instead od Osc 3 at audio/modulation- the modulation noise is the splattery and wet Pink Noise!"

Roland TB-303 Analog Bassline Synthesizer With Orignal Box & Bag

via this auction

"comes with:

The TB-303 itself - I'd say an 8 out of 10 cosmetically
The original vinyl carrying case - 9 out to 10 and these sell for like $100 themselves!
The original box - Maybe a 5 out of 10 as it's a big banged up and has a couple of small tears but its still all there!
The original manual - 7 out of 10 and just as confusing as when it was new ;)
The original CHORD WHEEL - Super rare and practically nobody kept hold of these things and they go for like $180 themselves!"
